What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #567

on my desk…

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

assembling paper flowers

First, let’s take care of business. I often share works in progress and forget to share the final project. But today I am correcting it. Last week I cut out these beautiful daffodils on my Silhouette and I completed them this week.

I do need to work on my hot glue gun techniques because as usual, the glue was all over my fingers. I also need to learn how to wrap the floral tape tighter. Overall, I am pleased with how pretty they are.

Last minute Easter cards.

Inspired by the pretty cards I saw last week on WOYWW’s desks, I decided at the last minute to make a few Easter cards. I grabbed some digital images I already had cut out, Copic markers and located some pretty paper and got to work.

The final cards.

I made four cards and mailed two. I created mailing stickers on my Silhouette to use on the envelopes.

Mailing stickers I made on the Silhouette.

I decided they wouldn’t be complete without cute mailing stickers in happy Easter colors. I used them on some envelopes I had in my stash from Paper Source.

Paper Easter eggs and flowers.

While my Silhouette was open I found a cute cutfile for paper eggs and flowers. It was originally supposed to be put on a wreath but I had other ideas. My sister gave me this cute bunny stand a few years ago and I knew I wanted to display it with my other Easter decorations so that is where I placed the eggs. You can’t see but I create one with rose gold paper so we would have one lucky egg!

Easter breakfast!

I woke up early Easter to make a yummy Easter breakfast – Cinnamon french toast and Coconut and cinnamon waffles with a pot of green tea. Then we spent time video chatting with family which helped to create a little normalcy to the day.

Yesterday I had my husband take a picture of me next to some of my flowering shrubs. They look best during gray wet days. The colors appear to glow. Short-lived so I always make sure to spend time enjoying their blooming season.

This morning, I grabbed one of those coloring books I showed you last week and have just begun to color. Will probably listen to podcasts and an audiobook while I color. Today I am going to try to take it easy.

Stay well, my friends.

on my desk…

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Hello, my friends! My desk is at the beginning stages of a project. I found a wonderful file on Silhouette to make paper daffodils. I am inspired by my blooms in my front yard. So I picked some paper this morning and began cutting them out.

There is something special to me about looking at the cut files, on the cutting mate. Even the negative space they leave behind makes me pause. I bought those three white vases you see on my desk from IKEA many years ago. They have been hanging around in my craft room ever since. So I decided I will put the daffodils in them once I assemble them.

As we are a few weeks out from my real escape into my outdoor gardening, I decided to look through my coloring book collection to find some spring images to color. These three coloring books made the cut.

Last Saturday, I joined some of my crafty friends on Zoom for a craft session. I thought I would be on for an hour and before I knew it 4 hours later we all signed off. It was really nice to craft and engage with friends. We plan on doing another session this Saturday. Perhaps it will be a regular occurrence. Below is the picture I colored with my Prismacolor pencils and of course I had to use a little bit of Nuvo drops as accents.

I would not call myself a stress eater before now. Let’s say I have indulged a little in the past but nothing like now. I find I am constantly in search of something. So naturally, the clothes are starting to stretch when I wear them. I decided to combat the bad habit by starting back up with regular strength training. I have always done it at home but lately, I had put it aside. I started on Monday and I have to say I am sore but feeling really good after I complete each workout.

This is the time of year I start to walk around my garden and look to see who will be joining me again of my plant family. Some casualties occur but most of the time I see them peeking out of the soil. My peonies are starting to peek out. That is them in the picture below.

My spring flowers in the front are in full bloom. They look amazing on cloudy days.

I love all the different varieties. They are the source of my paper flower inspiration. So I am going to try to use papers with similar colors.

I am not sure which one I like better the lighter colored ones or the ones below.

There are also a few hyacinths peeking out. I wish I had planted more because the contrast is fantastic.

Overall, we are all doing well. Some days run smoothly in our home and other days not as much but we are all adjusting. I finally took a ride in my car through the neighborhood with my husband. It was weird seeing people out walking with face masks. I found some in my laundry room that should last us for a while. After that, we will have to make some. I hadn’t left my house since March 16 so I have to say, the ride was great. We didn’t stop anywhere we just drove around. How are you holding up my friends?

on my desk…

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Hello, my crafty friends! I hope you all are well. This lovely desk hop and snoop is a perfect activity in these uncertain times we find ourselves. I am seeking all the pleasant distractions I can get while hunkering down at home. So let’s talk about what I am up to today. I am late posting because I actually got a little caught up crafting before taking these photos. On my desk, you will see I pulled out my goodies to complete this page in my traveler’s journal.

On the left you can see the container I am keeping some of my supplies while working on this scrapbook. I found the bag of wooden stars and hearts while peeking into my messy craft closet. Yes, you heard right, I peeked in there. I plan on tackling that closet over the next week so stay tuned for a reveal. In the meantime, I am using what supplies are in my craft room.

middle of my desk.

You might have noticed I don’t have my black Tim Holtz glass mat on my desk. I had to take it off while re-gluing one of the rubber pads that are on the bottom. It kept coming off so I decided I better glue it before I lose it. So it’s drying in the corner and I pulled out my pink cutting mat.

right side of my desk.

I do have two new items to share. I bought this great alpha stamp set and coordinating numbers from Feed Your Craft. They will be perfect to stamp titles in each of my journals. The font is really pretty to me. I haven’t bought letter stickers for a very long time. But I came across this gorgeous packet from Simple Stories. It has so many pretty colors and two different sizes of each color. So I can’t wait to use them in the journals. You can see my breakfast on the right – steel cut oats, banana slices, blueberries, bare naked granola and as if that is not enough I top that with candied pecans!! Yummy!!!

close-ups of Nuvo drops.

I am still loving my Nuvo drops. On this layout, I tried to match the color of the sunrise. I have this set aside on my desk to dry completely before I close it. I think they look so pretty.

final layout.

Here is my first layout. I used my computer to type out my journaling and I used some of my ephemera to add additional accents to the layout. I can’t wait for the drops to dry so I can work on another page.

But looking at this photo makes me a little sad today when I hear that there will be an extension of the school’s closure dates. Originally they said April 7th but now it looks like it will span the entire month of April. My boys are on video chats with their teachers today so hopefully, they will be able to continue to educate during these uncertain times. I am glad they are still giving assignments because my boys need to be busy so they won’t start to stress about the isolation.

I am taking this time to do some spring cleaning, read, craft, listen to my favorite podcasts and love on my family. I will be doing some snooping today and over the next few days.

I pray you all to stay well and indulge in some regular self-care.

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #560

on my desk…

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all well. I am just getting back into the swing of things. Last week was my boys’ school break so I spent part of the week running them around to activities with friends and part of the time being Nurse Mom to my oldest, who was recovering from his wisdom teeth surgery. So I am finally back at my craft table and it feels good. The weather is really strange. It has been in the 50s and this time of year we are supposed to have snow and highs only in the 30s. It’s frightening how much our weather has changed.

New craft haul!

A new haul of craft goodies arrived on Monday of this week and I can’t stop looking at them. So today I decided to test them out with my inks. I like to test out my stamps when I first get them to see how well they perform. I bought two sets of stamps to use in my reading journal. I am absolutely loving them. They are a perfect size and are very versatile.

Stamping up my new stamps.

I know you can see in the photo but I heat embossed them in gold and oo la la, I really love it!

Testing different inks.

This next set will be used on cards. I love the bubble-script font. It reminds me of middle school when we used to cover our books with paperbags and use our best cursive bubble letters to write our names (and sometimes the names of the boys we liked in the inside cover!).

This last one that I got to play with has so many sentiments to use on a variety of cards. I think I will look for one of my small circle dies and use that to cut a bunch out for future use.

Lovely sentiment stamps.

I wanted to share some coloring pages I did over the weekend while crafting with my friends but I have to run to pick up the boys from school. They have early release today. So maybe I can include them next time. I hope you all are well and I will be by this afternoon to see what you have been up to.
