What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #489

Good morning my crafty WOYWW friends! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Hello, hello, hello! Today both my boys have half days so I can’t babble on as usual.  On my desk, you see my newest bullet journal. I am using this one as my new book journal. I really like this brand for a journal and thought it would be nice to have all of my journals from the same brand. That way they will look nice and uniform on my shelf. I chose a pretty pink one for this one.

I have my color pencils out because I am doing a two-page spread for Non-fiction November which is a Booktube challenge to promote more non-fiction reading. I found great inspiration for a visual display in book journals on Pinterest. So I created a bookshelf and placed books on the shelves I then added titles to the books that I can use as options to read during the month of November for the challenge.  I realize after I started writing in titles that I included some fiction books from my TBR. So I think I will go back and leave only non-fiction titles.  I am a slow reader and November is a holiday month so I will not get to all of these books so, after November, I  will just use it as a Non-fiction TBR list. I used some cute plant stickers I had bought a while back from Target to add interest to the shelves. I also think I will add the year to the page. As I read the books, I think I will color them in for more visual motivation.

On the top right, you can also see some blue acrylic paint I have from another coloring page. It’s laying out to dry but hopefully, I can share it with you when I am complete. On the left, under my pencil case you can see a card I made a while back and some new phrase die-cuts I bought. I decided to cut out a bunch so that they are ready for use on projects instead of having to pull out my Cuttlebug to cut them each time.

Well, I need to run but I hope you all are having a wonderful day with at least a dash of crafty time!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #487

Good morning my crafty WOYWW friends! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Well, talk about crappy lighting this morning. It’s so gray outside and I don’t think my indoor lights made anything better so I apologize for the poor lighting today. I will make sure when I finish this page that I take a picture on a nice bright day.

Today I am trying to continue to work on this page from Kerby Rosanes book’ “Fantomorphia“. This is the second page I aim to complete in this gorgeous coloring book. I am trying out another technique I learned on YouTube. I am using matte acrylic paint to cover the background. I painted it black. I think it makes the image pop. I learned that if you use acrylic paint that is matte, then you can color over them with colored pencils rather easily. So instead of having to take hours and hours using a black colored pencil coloring the background, I used a variety of sized brushes to apply the acrylic paint. It’s very fast and dries fast. I am now going over the little areas I missed or that were too small for my brush with my black colored pencils.  I plan on using my colored pencils to color the gears next and then I will either use my Wink of Stella over the top or try out another technique painting a coat of some of my Nuvo crystal drops. I want the gears to sparkle.

On the right are my rulers, colored pencils and gel pens. I like using this little kitchen tray to hold colors I use in each project for easy access. You can also see the corner of a photo of some of my Hawaiian family and my family from our recent trip.

On the left of my desk, you can see a package that contains some new craft supplies I ordered from Simon Says Stamps.  I purchased some dies and more Nuvo drops.  You can also see some foam tape on the desk. I couldn’t find the one I had already purchased a long time ago. This, of course, is a side-effect of craft hoarding. I have a craft closet that holds many of my supplies. I think the door really should have police tape over it because it is quite dangerous to open the door without stuff falling out. Yup, it is in desperate need of cleaning. That is where I suspect my original foam tape is located. So, for now, it is in the crafting abyss.

Well enough of my yapping, so I can come snoop on some desks.

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday – #485

Good morning my crafty WOYWW friends! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday),  head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

My goal is to try to stick to participating every other Wednesday. I have unsuccessfully attempted this in the past but I thought I would try again. So here I am.

This morning’s desk is filled with one of my new stamp set’s coordinating dies. In the past, I never bought the coordinating dies because they forced me to reach deeper into my wallet and I figured I could just fussy cut the stamped images out when needed.  Fast forward to today, and I still hesitate but depending on the complexity of the shapes I will cave and buy the dies. They make the process more efficient and this year I need more efficiency with production.

In preparation, I am using my wire cutters to cut out the dies so that I can use them. I tested one out on an image I colored up on my recent crop. My old faithful Cuttlebug is on the left. The postcard in the middle of the lady reading and sipping tea is from Russia. To the right, is my first attempt at a new color combination for sunflowers with my Copic markers. The one to the left is watercolored with my new watercolor set from Altenew. My brand new coloring book that arrived yesterday is in my inbox on the far right.

Today is a shorter work day because my oldest has a half day so I am working as efficient as possible. So pardon me and I will be sure to visit some desks tomorrow.

Have a crafty day!

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday – #483

Good morning my crafty WOYWW friends! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday),  head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Well, stop the search parties because I have once again resurfaced to play. The last time I participated in WOYWW was #470!! Since then, I had a fantastic summer and Hawaiian vacation to really crank things up. I am a self-employed crafter and this was the first summer I decided to stop putting so much pressure on myself and took the summer off to be with my boys and dear husband. So that’s what I did, so with it came me abandoning my blog too.

As both my boys are both in school again, today is my first day back to work and boy is it a bit crazy. I hired my youngest son, yesterday to help me create an inventory of all my stamping inks.  Let’s just say that I have been crafting for years and have amassed quite a collection. So the first thing I did was give my son specs for the creation of a spreadsheet so that once I establish this system, I can maintain moving forward.

Because let’s face it, we all know the feeling of ordering some craft product only to find out days or weeks later, that you already own it!!  I wanted to track the manufacturers, the type of ink, the color and how many I own, also have it tell me if I need to re-order any.

Once he created the spreadsheet, I duplicated it and removed some of the fields for printing purposes and added a ‘swatch’ column so that I could visibly see my entire inventory. I found a fun leaf stamp and got to stamping.  Boy did it take time. I had no idea how many ink pads I own. I am extremely impressed that almost all of them were still juicy. I have some of them for so many years, I think some of the companies might have even gone out of business by now. But the fact that they are still moist is surprising.

But now I am left with an awesome system to help me when I am creating products. I can find just the right color and type of ink to use in minutes. So it was well worth the hours to create it.

I will leave you with one photo from our vacation and then later I will write a proper post to share some more of the fantastic details. I hope you all are well and I look forward to re-connecting with you talented WOYWW friends.  Keep craftin!!
