What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #595

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends! It’s Wednesday and you know what time it is. Time to snoop. For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Confession, my desk photo was taken last night because I knew I wouldn’t have time to process the photos etc. this morning. I have to take my boys to their first dentist appointment since the pandemic broke out. I am a bit anxious. Our jobs as parents are to keep our children safe and I have to put them in harms way, to ensure their teeth are healthy. So it sort of goes against my instinct. I am very careful with exposing my boys to any unnecessary exposure so I am a bit of a bundle of nerves this morning. So send positive energy that all three of us come out Covid-free.

I started a coloring book page a few days ago for Halloween. It’s a color-along and I am loving the color combos for the sky. I hope to finish it before Halloween. I will share it when I do. No trick or treating for us. I hope trick or treaters come to our door, it will make me sad. I will keep our lights off to discourage visits. It’s very sad for the kids.

Last Saturday’s crop was fun as usual and I played around with a new die to create the birthday cards above.

My father-in-law’s birthday was this past week so I also made him a birthday card with a new birthday stamp, patterned paper and my Copics.

Talk about scary, on the way to visit my in-laws this weekend, the raised highway I ride has been having construction work performed on it for months and on this day they were breaking down the other side of the highway. So as we slowly passed we could feel the whole road shake. I took the picture and then closed my eyes (no judgement ladies) while my husband drove us past.

I have been missing my coloring books so I am also started another page last week. It’s good practice coloring water.

Let’s talk about Covid binge shopping. I’m just sayin’ that this pile of delight arrived a few days ago and I can’t stop smiling. I will share them with you as I use them. Covid has been brutal to my bank account.

Stress from the upcoming election has made me sink deeper into my books. I plan on doing some today after all the dental appointment errands. This is one of my many book nooks in my house. This one makes me happy because I enjoy looking at one of my bookcases (Yes, I said one of my bookcases. I have several. That’s what bookworms do!!)

I am a big fan of sunrise and sunsets and this one my son took for me with his camera on Saturday evening. It was this spectacular. I can’t explain how happy it makes me to look at sunsets. I hope it brings a smile to your faces. I am off now but will stop by later today and for the rest of the week. (I am slow at making my rounds lately).

On my desk today, you will see my OLW scrapbook. I am determined to finish it by the end of the year. I’ve got some pictures there to be cut to include in the scrapbook. October we had to select a few songs that we resonate with right now. Then we have to print up a bit of the lyrics to include in October’s layout. I plan to be all caught up by Friday. That way I will be ready for November’s prompt. So scrapbooking is happening at my desk this week. You can also see 6 new ink pads I am trying out from Altenew. I thought this would be an easy way to see if I like them before I commit to buying big ink pads. The colors in this pack are so pretty.

Above is a photo of what happens to my desk while I am on my weekly craft session. Last Saturday, I was really productive and completed some cards and played around with more dies. It’s funny how messy I get when I craft. One day I will just embrace my mess and stop worrying about it.

Above are a few of the cards I created. I love butterflies and the white sheet I stamped up a bunch to color. We stayed up until late into the night again. It’s just what I need after each work week.

I kept on seeing my friend Ashley eating some yummy pretzels during our craft session. So I finally caved and ordered them. They arrive at your door fresh and I took them out and immediately froze them. Now all my boys have to do is take one out of the freezer and bake it for 8 minutes. They are so yummy and the smell is incredible. So crafting friends are not just enablers of craft stuff they also enable snack shopping!!

A quick post today because I have some things to work on today. My husband surprised me on Monday with a new Kindle. Anyone that knows me, knows I love to read and I read both physical, electronic and audio books. My Kindle is old and was no longer supported by my library app called Libby where I can check out ebooks from my library. So I was pretty sad and started using my husband’s reader. So he decided to get me the new version so I could continue to enjoy my ebooks. I thought it was so thoughtful. He’s a keeper.

Have a wonderful day and stay well.

After heavy rain all of yesterday and late into the night, the clouds have lifted and the sun is shining bright making me very happy.

On my desk you can see my laptop, some new goodies that arrived for playtime, my coloring book, planner, and other odds and ends.

Thea my desk plant was getting lonely when I am away from my desk so I bought Drew the Dracaena to keep her company. He may require more light so I will see if he can thrive on my desk or else he will be moved closer to the window. Thea is a bit of a diva but I think she will warm up to Drew.

Above is my latest bargain. I was in Michael’s last week and decided to go into the clearance section. I am so glad I did. I found the stunning paper pack for $1.77!! I couldn’t believe it. I wish they had two because I would have bought more.

I used some of my new dies to make cardfronts at Saturday’s Zoom Craft session. I cut up the paper from that paper pack and love how it looks behind the silhouette deer and trees. I had intended on making some distress backgrounds but this was even easier without the mess. I also tested out some single deer dies. I just love animals in silhouette.

On Sunday, we made the trek to Ikea to go buy a new desk for my youngest son. This was a picture of the line. It’s long but it constantly moved so I didn’t mind much. They only allow a limited amount in the store so they set this up outside. Like Disney World, without the fun rides at the end. But I have to say once we got inside it was really nice. It felt like we had the store to ourselves. Definitely worth the wait. We found a great desk and a few other items.

I will leave you with the start of a new coloring page. I have been missing my coloring books so I made a point to take one out and listened to an audiobook while I colored. I found this great color pallette on Youtube so I have limited colors to choose from but it’s making for a fun time.

I hope you all well. I will visit desks over the next few days like I usually do.

Happy crafting!

Hello, my crafty friends! It’s Wednesday and you know what time it is. Time to snoop. Today, on my desk, you can see a few things. The scrapbook in the middle is my One Little Word scrapbook. I am going back and filling in a little journaling I forgot a few months ago. I have made it a goal to complete this scrapbook by year’s end. I have been participating in One Little Word for years and never have completed it. I am playing a little catch up because I haven’t completed August and September’s prompts. I am going to finish them today so I can listen to October’s prompt. You can also see a new batch of letter stickers I bought for my book journal. I was running low so I bought some more. I use them to spell out the titles’ of the books when I review them. And right next to my tea mug is some cards I am working on.

Remember I bought the electronic Sizzix a few weeks ago? Well look what I found while poking around my craft room yesterday…some Sizzix dies. They make four different tag sizes. So I am excited to use them in my new machine to make some Christmas tags. Isn’t just wonderful when you find little treasures in your craft room you forgot you had?

This week I am continuing to read my way through the Frederick Douglass book. I am proud to say I am half way through this chunkster. If I stay on schedule, I will finish reading it by the end of the month.

Quick garden pick… I know I shared this one before but it seems to be blooming more profusely as everything else is dying back for the season. I sit next to it for my 10 minutes of vitamin D break each day.

A new stamp I just received that I can’t tell you how much I can’t wait to play with it. It’s a background stamp and I see endless possibilities. I will share when I make them.

My Halloween decor is up in my craft room. I bought these lights a few weeks back and I can’t tell you how much joy I find when I plug them in each day.

I think I will move them up a bit so you can see the boo and eek better.

Above are the cards I made during Saturday’s Zoom Craft session. I’m thinking of turning them into birthday cards. I also did some embossing with the embossing folders for future cardmaking.

Lastly, I will leave you with a picture I took from my youngest son’s bedroom window. Typically, this tree starts to change color on the top and slowly works it’s way down. I discovered this many years ago because I love studing the trees in my yard. But this year, it’s happening about 2 weeks early and going fast. The leaves are dropping fast. So I thought I would snap a photo before they go. I hope you all are well and making fun projects. I will pop around today and tomorrow to see what you are up to.
