What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #592

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends! It’s Wednesday and you know what time it is. Time to snoop. For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Today, on my desk, you can see a few things. The scrapbook in the middle is my One Little Word scrapbook. I am going back and filling in a little journaling I forgot a few months ago. I have made it a goal to complete this scrapbook by year’s end. I have been participating in One Little Word for years and never have completed it. I am playing a little catch up because I haven’t completed August and September’s prompts. I am going to finish them today so I can listen to October’s prompt. You can also see a new batch of letter stickers I bought for my book journal. I was running low so I bought some more. I use them to spell out the titles’ of the books when I review them. And right next to my tea mug is some cards I am working on.

Remember I bought the electronic Sizzix a few weeks ago? Well look what I found while poking around my craft room yesterday…some Sizzix dies. They make four different tag sizes. So I am excited to use them in my new machine to make some Christmas tags. Isn’t just wonderful when you find little treasures in your craft room you forgot you had?

This week I am continuing to read my way through the Frederick Douglass book. I am proud to say I am half way through this chunkster. If I stay on schedule, I will finish reading it by the end of the month.

Quick garden pick… I know I shared this one before but it seems to be blooming more profusely as everything else is dying back for the season. I sit next to it for my 10 minutes of vitamin D break each day.

A new stamp I just received that I can’t tell you how much I can’t wait to play with it. It’s a background stamp and I see endless possibilities. I will share when I make them.

My Halloween decor is up in my craft room. I bought these lights a few weeks back and I can’t tell you how much joy I find when I plug them in each day.

I think I will move them up a bit so you can see the boo and eek better.

Above are the cards I made during Saturday’s Zoom Craft session. I’m thinking of turning them into birthday cards. I also did some embossing with the embossing folders for future cardmaking.

Lastly, I will leave you with a picture I took from my youngest son’s bedroom window. Typically, this tree starts to change color on the top and slowly works it’s way down. I discovered this many years ago because I love studing the trees in my yard. But this year, it’s happening about 2 weeks early and going fast. The leaves are dropping fast. So I thought I would snap a photo before they go. I hope you all are well and making fun projects. I will pop around today and tomorrow to see what you are up to.

Happy Monday: Mums everywhere!

Hello and happy Monday! Great week and weekend. Last week, we finally made it out on a date night. We haven’t gone in months so it was really fun. We tried a new Spanish Restuarant and I think I ate everything on the tapas menu!!Oh and happy fall! I love autumn and the fall flowers are a favorite so I drove to my favorite garden center on Friday and bought up a bunch of mums to plant around my garden.  I planted yellow mums in the front between my Coreopsis. I thought the yellow was a better choice to make things pop.I planted alternating purple and yellow in pots at the end of my driveway. As they fully bloom they will be a welcome burst of color when we drive into our driveway.I planted this amazing pink mum. Yes, I can’t believe they are pink. They remind me of Dahlias or Zinnias. I planted them in pots near my veggie beds. I picked plants with plenty of buds that had not opened yet. Because I love to watch the color burst over time.

I also planted three new maroon flowers in my rear raised bed. I am not sure how well they will do. I think they get enough sun but in the past, they don’t do well on the sloped ground. They get lanky and lean too much for my taste. But maybe since I put them lower, they might thrive. These are the colors that make my heart melt. I love the deep color and can’t wait for them all to bloom.I like seeing mums in the fall. They really brighten up the landscape before winter approaches.

I also took the time to buy some spring bulbs and planted them too. Because who doesn’t a few happy flowers in early spring?

Have a blessed day!

Happy Monday! Fall and Football joy

foundersday2016

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I had a nice weekend with my family too. We attended the annual Founder’s day in our town. The boys like walking around and getting pizza and I of course needed my fried dough.  Nick went off to hang out with his friend’s while Apollo, Leao and I checked out the vendors. Not much to my taste but I did pick up a free sample of honey and am enjoying it in my tea as I type right now.  I snagged 2 great books from the library sale for $2. Now that is a bargain! We also spent time with my in-laws on Sunday and had a belated birthday celebration for my mother-in-law. I picked up the most gorgeous variety of cupcakes from Whole Foods instead of a cake so we could all just indulge for a bit. I have to admit it was pretty yummy.  I realize in my haste to inhale those yummies, I forgot to take a picture of them. I would love to have showed you all the pretty details they put into them.

hannaford

On one sad note, one of my favorite supermarkets (Hannaford) closed it’s doors on Sunday at 3pm. A new market called Big Y will be taking it’s place. I hope the staff stays because they are absolutely lovely and I hope they continue to stock some organic items.

But what really made my weekend was the return of the Patriot’s and football season. I watched the 1pm game and then when we got home, I prepared for bed and watched the Patriot’s play. It was hard not seeing our quarterback at the helm due to his 4-game suspension but the game was exciting right up to the last few seconds. Go Pats!!

Fall is my favorite time of year from the clothes, colors, foliage, food and football. I get excited as it approaches each year because it’s like a New year for me. I know January is the New Year but I celebrate new beginnings twice a year. Once in September and then in January. I also base my work schedule around the school year, so this is the time of year, I begin creating new product lines and ideas flow so naturally. The crisp morning air rock’s my world and the football anthem playing on the TV fills me with hope for new beginnings. It’s so funny how much joy I have doing a simple thing such as watching the games with Leao and my father-in-law but I really look forward to it each week. I also have a friend who we virtually watch the games by texting each other after bad calls or crazy plays.  It’s been our ritual for some time and it’s another way she and I connect each week. It’s great fun.

So I hope today and the week ahead is beautiful for you and remember to slow down to cherish the moments because they are always there waiting for you.

Tag Tuesday: #2 – Fall blessings

nov4_2014a

Hello and welcome to Tag Tuesday. For my second installment, I thought a fall theme. Although the temperatures here lately make me think of winter.  I used a digi from The Paper Shelter and colored her up with my Copics. I bought this image because it reminded me of my love hate relationship with fall. I am a big fan of the fall on the east coast.  I love the crisp air and smell of wood burning and am still in awe of the vibrant colors when the leaves change.  The relationship typically sours when the leaves start to fall. Because then I am faced with raking and bagging them.  So this year, I got on board and we have hired someone to do this for us so we can use those hours doing something we enjoy and my back is also grateful.

I used Crate Paper ‘Farmhouse for the paper on this tag.  The deep rich colors make me happy.  I pulled a coordinating ribbon out of my stash and then topped it with this fun wool-like flower from Recollections. For the words I used a Jillibean Soup label from my Project Life stash.

I hope you are having a great day. Today is election day and I will be heading out to vote this morning with my boys and then treating them to the movies.

Have a blessed day!
