What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday – #538

on my desk

Hello friends! It’s that time again! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

I am a little late to the party today but you will be pleased to see I am actually being rather productive this morning. I am calling today Silhouette designing day in my craft room because I am working in my Silhouette app today. I have some of my tools out for the first shot on my desk. Remember those coasters I showed you a few weeks ago? I wanted to customize them and make them into a housewarming gift for my sister-in-law. Well that’s them in the desk shot before I got to work. I also have sticker paper out, Silhouette tools, scissors, my laptop, etc.

Cutting vinyl for my home decor items.

I have all sorts of vinyl but this is my first time using the Oracal 651 brand by Silhouette. It claims to be perfect for indoor and outdoor projects and it has a perfect shine so I thought it would be perfect for these coasters.

Coasters
Laying out vinyl on coasters.

I created a mock version in paper for sizing and placement purposes. Then I used my weeding tool and carefully began laying down the vinyl.

Smoothing down the letters.

I began with the first letter and used the paper mock up to help align it. Then I layed down the remaining letters which are all attached for easier placement and then smoothed out air bubbles.

I liked the look of the initial straddling the marble and wood. So I usede my T-ruler to help with placement. I thought it would be fun to have her name on some and first initial on others. Underneath them you can see my second project all cut out on the Silhouette.

I think they came out great. I will be sending them with my husband this weekend. He and his brother’s are all going to fly in and spending the weekend with their sister as a housewarming guests!! It will be fun for them to have quality sibling time without spouses and kids. I am really happy for them because I think we lose sight of our siblings sometimes in the daily happenings of family life. So I am hoping this will be the beginning of an annual sibling trip.

fall boxes created on the Silhouette.
I assembled these fall beauties.

The paper you saw under the coasters, I cut out on my Silhouette and assembled these adorable fall themed boxes. I decided to shake it up and interchange the tops for a pretty contrast. I couldn’t find my red line tape which is really good so I used my ATG but will look around later and restick them once I find the red line tape.

My last project this morning was to convert digital files I bought online to stickers on my Silhouette so I can print and cut them on the machine to use in my planners.

New fall stickers for my planners.

Isn’t she cute? I love the fall colors and now I can just grab a few anytime I need one in my jounals.

A morning spent with my Silhouette makes for a productive morning today. I hope you all are having productive days. I’ll pop by later today and through the weekend.

Happy crafting!

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday – #491

Good morning my crafty WOYWW friends! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

It’s Halloween here and I didn’t let it slip by without a little decorating in my craft room. I put up my little signs and cut out bats on my Silhouette to hang in my book nook.

That’s as scary as I get. I don’t care much for the creepy stuff but I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to spice up my craft room a bit.

Now on to my desk. I was working on a little coloring yesterday while my boys worked on their homework. This coloring book is the beautiful ‘Ivy and the Inky Butterfly by Johanna Basford. I love how this is both a storybook and coloring book.

You can see my color combinations I wrote them out as I used them. I discovered a few that will definitely be added to my favorites list. You can also see some of my Nuvo drops. I went crazy and snagged a bunch a few months ago and although they are similar to Ranger’s Distress Stickles, oh they are so much more. So I am having a blast playing with them. You can also see my Prisma color swatches that I always have on hand when I color.

I am still working on my commissioned project and yesterday I made some good progress. I will continue once I finish this post so once again I will take a few days to get around to desk visits.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and Happy Halloween!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #429ish

Good morning everyone! It’s already hot and sunny this morning. Yesterday was in the 90s and so humid out I moved like a turtle! So a lovely day to be in my craft room.

On my desk is my latest project I am working on – a fall wreath. It’s a cutfile I bought last year from the Silhouette Design Store. The flowers are mums which are one of my favorites so I can’t wait to see how this final wreath looks.  As I am typing, I am simultaneously cutting a few more flowers in a grayish shade and then I will begin using my burnishing tool to roll and shape the petals. I have a wild looking wreath I recently purchased that I may use these with our I may find the round flat one that is made of a very heavy cardstock as the base.  Another option is that I may cut out one in heavy cardstock that came with the cutfiles myself.

You can also see on the left a Prisma Color chart for my color pencils. I recently caved and bought the big 72 pencil set. I figured, I own enough coloring books to justify having a bit more variety in colors. Yup, that’s the craft addict logic…don’t judge!!

The chart that Cheetarah asked about last week on my desk is more visible today and it is a Hex Chart created by Sandy Allnock an amazing artist to assist people that use Copics with color selections. I have gotten so used to using it, that when I forget to bring it with me to a craft session with my girlfriends, I feel lost.

Underneath the lovely stamp and die set on the right is some new yellow shades of cardstock to use for the center of my flowers. I will be using that on the flowers I am creating for this project.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday),  head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Have a blessed day!

Valentine’s Decor for the craft room

valentine-decor2I snagged this cute pillow at Target to put on my reading nook chair. It’s perfect for Valentine’s day but I think I will keep it for a while because if goes really nice with my chair.

valentine-decor1Yes that is a sign of a booklover – a pile of books hanging out. They make me happy even though they should be on a shelf.

Are you putting any Valentine’s or Love-themed items up in your home?
