What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #549

on my desk…

Hello my crafty friends. Last night we had a little snow and now this morning I woke to no internet access. So I packed up and headed to my closest Starbucks. I arrived to find that they don’t have access here either so I will wait and once it’s up I will push this post live. The funny thing is that this is nothing compared to the storm we had last week and we had power and internet access just fine.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Today, my desk is a busy flurry of stuff. I am frantically trying to complete the ’12 Days of Christmas’ tablescape for our upcoming ladies craft day on Saturday. We are having a themed meal around the 12 Days of Christmas and exchanging gifts. Oh yeah, and maybe some crafting will actually happen!! So on my desk you can see the first two numbers that I have assembled. I will embellish them more once I complete assembling them. I am not a big fan of glue sticks but the creator of these files recommends using it so that I can easily move the pieces around when adhering them. I am using the glue stick to attach them to the inner components that enable them to be hung as ornaments. I don’t intend on using them as ornaments only as table décor. I will be sure to share photos next week of the completed set.

Cut components.

This is what they look like once I cut out all of the components on my Silhouette. I figured out a genius way to  cut them out without wasting a lot of paper. It took some focus but I was able to do it.

Putting together number two.

This is what two turtle doves look like before I fully assembled it. It was really great to use up some of my mounds of paper. I have so much paper in my craft room, I could open a craft store.

These are the components to allow me to hang them.

Above you can see the components that must be assembled and glued to the inside of the elements to give them dimension and to enable them to be hung. I am using the hot glue on this part.

They are really fun to assemble, and I can’t wait to see them all finished. If I can save them and transport them back home after the party I will use them next year at my home.

It is crazy that Christmas is two weeks away. I haven’t finished my shopping. I haven’t sent out all of my Christmas cards. I am a mess. I am not going to let it swallow me up though. I suspect I am not alone in this holiday panic and I want to enjoy the season. So somehow, I will have to relax and let it be.

Well I am going to head out to pick up my boys. Today they have an early release and I promised them lunch at Panera!

I’ll be around to snoop tomorrow!

Happy crafting!

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday – #495

Good morning to my crafty WOYWW friends! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Well hello there! It’s so sunny here right now that it is making me happy. It made taking a photo this morning of my somewhat clean desk a joy.  On the right you can see the box ready to go with the custom card order I had been working on for the last few weeks. I am going to mail them off to my client today. Above that box is a container with all my bits I use in my dot journals. You can see some cute Starry lights I found in the dollar spot at target. Not sure what I will do with them yet. Of course, there is a teacup on my desk. Tea is my beverage of choice pretty much all year but especially in the winter. I am trying out a car diffuser for the first time. This year my husband bought me a diffusor and some lovely essential oils and I use it in my craft room. So I can use the same oils in the car. I am thinking of getting a pine scent to keep me in the holiday spirit. Oh, and yes, it’s on right now — Christmas music. I waited until our Thanksgiving holiday ended and then I rushed to put on Holiday music. Right now ‘Santa Baby’ is playing while I type.

The green cardstock is two segments for a 3D Christmas tree advent calendar I am cutting out on my Silhouette.  As I begin to prepare holiday decor for my home, I also supplement it with themed paper crafts.

On the left are Copics, paint brushes, embossing powders and a pile of books and odds and ends. But let’s just rejoice in being able to see some of my actual desktop. haha!! We had a lovely Thanksgiving with my in-laws and on Saturday, my husband took me to see the incredible Former First Lady Michelle speak. I had pre-ordered her memoir and found out she was coming here to speak so he bought tickets. It was such an inspirational talk that I will never forget. I miss our former president and first lady so much. Well, I have to hustle. I am dismissing the boys early for flu shots and I need to wrap up a few things. Have a blessed day my friends.

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #429ish

Good morning everyone! It’s already hot and sunny this morning. Yesterday was in the 90s and so humid out I moved like a turtle! So a lovely day to be in my craft room.

On my desk is my latest project I am working on – a fall wreath. It’s a cutfile I bought last year from the Silhouette Design Store. The flowers are mums which are one of my favorites so I can’t wait to see how this final wreath looks.  As I am typing, I am simultaneously cutting a few more flowers in a grayish shade and then I will begin using my burnishing tool to roll and shape the petals. I have a wild looking wreath I recently purchased that I may use these with our I may find the round flat one that is made of a very heavy cardstock as the base.  Another option is that I may cut out one in heavy cardstock that came with the cutfiles myself.

You can also see on the left a Prisma Color chart for my color pencils. I recently caved and bought the big 72 pencil set. I figured, I own enough coloring books to justify having a bit more variety in colors. Yup, that’s the craft addict logic…don’t judge!!

The chart that Cheetarah asked about last week on my desk is more visible today and it is a Hex Chart created by Sandy Allnock an amazing artist to assist people that use Copics with color selections. I have gotten so used to using it, that when I forget to bring it with me to a craft session with my girlfriends, I feel lost.

Underneath the lovely stamp and die set on the right is some new yellow shades of cardstock to use for the center of my flowers. I will be using that on the flowers I am creating for this project.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday),  head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Have a blessed day!

Fun Halloween Decor

halloweendecor1Uh oh…I apologize for the email spam yesterday for those who subscribe. I was shutting down my computer yesterday and accidentally posted the rough draft of this post. I quickly pulled it before it went live but unfortunately, I can’t stop the email once they are sent.

Any way, ditch that old email and check out this post which actually has some photos. I have a great area in my craft room where I often display photos, my boy’s artwork and seasonal décor. I decided that I needed some Halloween pieces so I headed over to my Silhouette and cut out these cuties. Joan would be pleased that I assembled them without assistance. She is one of my crafty friends that laughs because I always have some craft assembly project that puzzles me and I ask for her help.

One of the great things about having my Silhouette is I can whip up things fairly fast to display in the house. So it will be fun to see the boys notice this little Halloween village when they enter my craft room.

I hope you all are having a blessed day!
