What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #569

on my desk…

Hello everyone! I can not understand how it is already Wednesday again. I can’t keep up with the time. I am late because after my morning workout I decided to wash my hair and I did not realize how much my hair has grown since going to a salon. I was due for a trim before businesses closed and we were housebound. So now I am way overdue and drying my hair took longer than normal this morning. So here I am. I also had to cancel my annual physical this week and re-schedule. I called my doctor’s office only to here the assistant told me she had openings in July. I may be extra cautious but I refuse to set foot in a hospital unless it’s an emergency. I feel fine now and don’t have any questions for my doctor so I don’t see the reason to see her. So when I feel it’s safe, we can meet again.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

On my desk you can see my coloring book and on the left you can see the journal I am using for One Little Word. Each year you pick a word and then she provides video prompts each month. My friend and I are working through it together and today I am working on wrapping up my April entries. At the end of the year, I will share some pages from it.

I had some coloring time this week.

I had a chance to start a new coloring page. I was in the spring mood so I searched for flowers. This page is fun but it takes quite some time for each flower to make them look dimensional. I am finished with the hard ones and then I will begin working on the leaves. This is the Ivy and Inky Butterfly coloring book by Johanna Basford. I love the whimsical images.

Weeding in my garden.

The weather was so beautiful last Saturday that I got my first opportunity to get into my garden. So weeding was my first order of duty. I have lots of them so this will take a while.

My fruit atree farm area all weeded.

I cleaned up the weeds in my fruit tree farm area. It was covered with so many dreaded weeds. But my lovely husband joined me and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed breathing in the fresh air and feeling the warm sun on my skin. I am not a fan of weeds but it is so rewarding to see them after. I always take before and after photos so I can appreciate all the work.

This is a photo of one of my dwarf fruit trees. I missed photographing the other trees when they were in full bloom because it was so crappy outside then.

Above is another dwarf fruit tree and me peeking through. They are nearly done blooming. I am hoping the squirrel will not eat everything this year.

The weather was warm enough for my son to open up his studio (a.k.a. clubhouse). I thought it would be fun to take a picture of it through the blossoms. It makes the studio look magical!

Above you can see the bits and pieces of a die cut. I wonder if you can tell what they will make. I cut them all out on my Silhouette in preparation for mass production for a card. I can’t say what it is until next week after I assemble and send them out to the recipients. But I have been having fun cutting them out.

I hope you all are well and I intend on enjoying the sunshine today so I will visit most of you tomorrow. Stay well.

assembling paper flowers

First, let’s take care of business. I often share works in progress and forget to share the final project. But today I am correcting it. Last week I cut out these beautiful daffodils on my Silhouette and I completed them this week.

I do need to work on my hot glue gun techniques because as usual, the glue was all over my fingers. I also need to learn how to wrap the floral tape tighter. Overall, I am pleased with how pretty they are.

Last minute Easter cards.

Inspired by the pretty cards I saw last week on WOYWW’s desks, I decided at the last minute to make a few Easter cards. I grabbed some digital images I already had cut out, Copic markers and located some pretty paper and got to work.

The final cards.

I made four cards and mailed two. I created mailing stickers on my Silhouette to use on the envelopes.

Mailing stickers I made on the Silhouette.

I decided they wouldn’t be complete without cute mailing stickers in happy Easter colors. I used them on some envelopes I had in my stash from Paper Source.

Paper Easter eggs and flowers.

While my Silhouette was open I found a cute cutfile for paper eggs and flowers. It was originally supposed to be put on a wreath but I had other ideas. My sister gave me this cute bunny stand a few years ago and I knew I wanted to display it with my other Easter decorations so that is where I placed the eggs. You can’t see but I create one with rose gold paper so we would have one lucky egg!

Easter breakfast!

I woke up early Easter to make a yummy Easter breakfast – Cinnamon french toast and Coconut and cinnamon waffles with a pot of green tea. Then we spent time video chatting with family which helped to create a little normalcy to the day.

Yesterday I had my husband take a picture of me next to some of my flowering shrubs. They look best during gray wet days. The colors appear to glow. Short-lived so I always make sure to spend time enjoying their blooming season.

This morning, I grabbed one of those coloring books I showed you last week and have just begun to color. Will probably listen to podcasts and an audiobook while I color. Today I am going to try to take it easy.

Stay well, my friends.

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends! I hope this day meets you in good health. I take comfort in our weekly snoop sessions as the news here has turned bleaker. I will refrain from repeating because the purpose of our weekly gathering is to inspire and uplift each other.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Preparing my new journal.

So today I am working on my journals. As you all know I love journals. I have journals designated for different things. I have one for work, one for my reading journey and one just to write my daily thoughts. Today I took a journal I had ordered but didn’t use last year and decided to decorate it to be used starting today. One of my bookworm friends has started a challenge for the month of April to journal every day. She provided us with one-word prompts for each day. I think it will be fun and look forward to journaling with some of my bookish friends. I think it’s important for me to document my experiences and feelings during this difficult time.

I think I might color the desktop gray.

So I pulled out my trusty Copics and a digital image I had already cut out on my Silhouette and colored her up. I do think I will make her desktop gray because it blends in with the book too easily.

A quick selfie on my steps.

This is me outside getting some vitamin D last week. I have made it a point to sit outside every day (weather permitting) to stay healthy. It’s such a joy hearing all the birds. They aren’t affected by all this and they are going about their regular business. I didn’t realize how much I missed hearing and seeing them while locked up inside.

Bike riding in our driveway.

We put air in my youngest’s bike tires and he takes it for a spin in our driveway when the weather is nice enough. I am grateful to have a large drive that he can play and ride in. He’s bigger now but still enjoys the time.

I hope you all are well. I am going to stop by over the next two days to see what’s happening.

Stay well, my friends.

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends!! I am checking in to say I am still doing well despite the homebound situation. Each day I pop outside and sit on my deck steps to get some fresh air and that is helping. It looks like decent weather for the next three days so I will get more time outside in my yard.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Set up for painting the background.

My desk is witness to the crafting that has been happening. I started on Sunday with this lovely picture in Kerby Rosanes’ “Mythomorphia” coloring book. His pictures are known for having a lot of detail so I decided to grab my black acrylic paint and paint the entire background black. Kind of a night scene. Once I did that it really made the image pop.

I like how it looks with a black background.

I was inspired by a YouTube colorist and began coloring the minotaur ( At least I think that is what it is.) in colors to make him look like jade.

I love the idea of it being made of jade.

Down to about 7 toilet paper rolls left. My husband has been going out for over a week to find toilet paper. It’s insane. Thank goodness I am the only female in the house so less toilet paper used!! The things we have to think about more closely now. Our food supplies are good. We have a large freezer in our basement which is filled and I set up pantry shelves down there too and they are filled with non-perishable items. So I think on that front, we are well. I have been baking like a little Martha Stewart to fill the house with sweet smells to raise everyone’s spirits. The problem is that I am gaining weight!! I think when I finally emerge I might be unrecognizable.

My craft room display.

I think I want to leave you all on a positive note. This is my display area in my craft room and it’s celebrating spring. It’s the first thing you see when you enter my space so it sets the tone. I hope you all are all well and I really enjoyed snooping last week. I will definitely be popping by today and tomorrow.

Be well, my friends.
