Sneak Peek From My Christmas Craft Haul

A pile of craft goodness!

Hello! I hope you are find at least one thing that brings you joy today. Today I wanted to share a photo of a pile of some of the crafty goodness that I gifted myself with for Christmas. Every year, I pick a few things off my wish list and buy them for Christmas. As they arrive, I place them in a bag and won’t open them until after Christmas. This year I focused on some tools and loads of coloring products. Over the next few weeks I will open them and show you how I plan to use them.

A better look at some of the items I bought.

I picked out coloring (pencil and watercolor) items, some stuff for my bullet journaling and a really cool tool that I can’t wait to show you. I like to try different brands as well as different grade crafting supplies to see what I enjoy using.

I am always inspired to create when I see swatches of color mediums. Next week I will share some swatching of some of the new paints I purchased. I will be trying some new brushes that I bought last year and use them on some new cotton watercolor paper. So come back next week to have a look.

In the meantime, have a lovely weekend and I hope you find something fun to create!

Coloring in My Coloring Books for Inktober

If you have been around this blog long enough, you will know that I get excited for craft challenges. I like the idea of pushing myself a little each day to explore new mediums or master old ones. So this year, I have been thinking about Inktober. What is Inktober you ask? Jake Parker created Inktober in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year.

Another thing you might know about me is I like to stretch challenges to fit my needs whether it’s a reading or crafting challenge, I always find a way to make it work for me.

So I am stretching this challenge to include my colored pencils and inks in my coloring books. That way I can also meet one of my personal goals which is to color more of my coloring books. Which we all know I have quite a large collection.

For the Inktober challenge you are supposed to draw each day. So I went through my coloring books and found one that might make the challenge less challenging for me. It is called. Matchstick Mouse – A Halloween coloring book and Matchstick Mouse – An Autumn coloring book. The images are really small and simple. So I might be able to complete one in a day or two.

Despite the fact that I am starting late, I will try to post a few days a week of the pages I color in this book for the remainder of the month.

Let’s see how many I can complete by the end of October. Let me know if you are participating in this challenge.

Happy coloring!

WIP Wednesday – Coloring catchup

A coloring page I started on Saturday.

Hello, I hope you are all well. I thought I would share some WIPs I am working on since the sun decided to hide from us today. It’s cool and rainy today and I took the day off to mellow out with some coloring and reading. The first image I started this past weekend was when I was on my weekly zoom craft session with friends. I chose it because it reminded me of spring.

My first attempt at coloring the Mandalorian.

Creating a metallic effect is not something I have a lot of experience with so I did some snooping online to find out what I could do to create the look. This one I started weeks ago and I think because it only required blacks and grays I lost interest. But I think I will see it through and maybe add some color to the background.

I love this illustration.

This is an old WIP that I believe I started last year so it’s time to complete the coloring. I love this image. I am not as good as I would like with coloring animal fur with colored pencils but I can only get better with practice. I am not a big fan of coloring owls and I think that is why I stopped but I think it’s time to finish this one.

These are the three books that the WIPs I am currently working on.

These are the three books I am coloring the WIPs in today.

Have a lovely day!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #556

on my desk…

Hello my crafty friends! It has been quite a long time since I have posted. The holidays swept me up and life took over after that but here I am ready to snoop and catch up with all of you.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

My new Faber Castle Polychromos.

Today I am sharing some coloring I started this past weekend at my monthly ladies craft day. It is from an amazing Greek coloring book I purchased over a year ago. The cool thing about it is that they have suggested colors on the left side page for each image. So if you struggle with color combinations, it relieves some of the anxiety. I am using my new Faber Castle Polychromos I got for Christmas. I also got a new case to put them in that rocks my world. Who knew cacti could be so pretty!

Greek coloring book.

I am trying to learn the differences in using the polychromos and my Prismacolor pencils. I have used the Prismascolors for several years now so it will fun to learn a new pencil. Once again, I have made a new year’s resolution to color in all of my coloring books. Last year, I colored a lot but certainly not all and let’s not talk about the new coloring books I purchased towards the end of last year! (like I need any more but what’s a crafter to do?)

I never got a chance to share a photo with you all of the ’12 days of Christmas table decor” that I was making. So here they are as I displayed them at our monthly crop in December.

12 Days of Christmas

I boxed them up for next year. They were a lot of fun to make. I ended up bringing them to my in-laws over the holiday as well.

Well I am off so I can get to work. I will pop around to see what you all are doing over the course of the next few days.

Have a blessed day!

Belinda
