Hello! How are you today? I am feeling sore. I started a new workout routine on Monday and I am embarrassed to say, I am still sore. Taking the stairs are brutal. I was suppose to repeat it on Wednesday but I opted for stretches yesterday and relaxing Yoga this morning. But nothing seems to make a difference except good old fashion time.
Oh and one vent for the morning…it is about the tissue in the pocket You know, ladies, that one day you don’t check all of the pockets before placing the laundry into the wash. Yes, you know what I’m talking about. In my haste this morning to pop a load of laundry in the wash, I skipped the pockets check. Of course it’s the day, I am washing my new black pants. Let us pause for a minute and have a collective sigh…….. So when I went to remove the items to place them in the dryer, I was greeted with my new black pants with little specks of white all over it. I said a few words (keeping it G-rated here) and then I located the source. I may not reveal the culprit, to spare feelings but I will not skip that process again.
Other than that, I am feeling very happy. I just completed reading another book so stay tuned for another book review in my Nook.
The wind we had a few days ago, did not leave my garden untouched. My beautiful Dahlias had a few casualties. As much as I like cut flowers particularly in the winter months, I tend to leave mine in the garden. I don’t know, I have every intention of cutting them and placing them in a vase and rushing them up to my craft room but I just can’t bring myself to violate them in nature. So as a result of the winds, one of my giant Dahlias took a beating and one of them bent the stem. So I felt ok clipping them to bring them into my home. Isn’t she beautiful? They are so huge and there are two buds that haven’t even opened yet.

Hello Everyone and Happy Monday! It is time to say goodbye to our new friend – our first pool. I grew up on the Cape so I am a beach person. I like swimming in the ocean and relaxing in the sand. So for years now, I have fought the battle to get a pool. This summer, I told Leao I didn’t think it would be worth it, the boys probably wouldn’t want it and more importantly wouldn’t use it! Boy was I wrong. I asked them and they said yes. So I began researching options. I didn’t want to invest into anything too expensive so I could test the waters (no pun intended). I found this great one on Amazon on sale for half off and ordered it. The UPS delivered it right to our rear driveway so setup was faster.
Apollo had a pool party with movie night and had a blast. The boys used it often this summer and I was surprised how much I enjoyed taking dips in it.
On the hot days, I had to admit it was rather convenient. It’s not the same as the beach but a great option for the boys and their friends when they come visit. So next year, we just might prepare the spot for a more permanent pool and scale larger.
All this said, it is time to close this pool for the season and I am sad to see it go because I loved hearing the laughter it generated from my backyard this summer. It’s become and old friend. Apollo wants to take a few more dips so we will probably end up closing it at the end of this week. I laugh when I think of how wrong I was and happy that I finally opened to the possibilities that led to my family’s summer joy.
Well I have to go suit up so I can take my last dip with Apollo today.
Hello everyone! Happy Monday! This morning I had to drop off my oldest for his first day at his new school. Despite all of my efforts, as soon as he began walking from the car, I began to cry. I wish for him a wonderful first day. I know he will be fine but that mommy instinct that wants to protect him from all the mishaps that can take place on a first day is on high alert. So I will just have to hear from him how it went.
In the meantime, as you know, once the boys are in school, I do some of my work at the Barnes and Noble cafe once a week. So today, I have a special work guest…Apollo! He doesn’t begin school until next Wednesday and he loves himself some Chai and scones. So convincing him wasn’t necessary. He packed his backpack last night. He is working on coding while I work on some blog content and production planning.
Apollo is working on some coding. We just came up with an idea of a random puns machine based on some puns we heard on the radio in the car on our way here. So that will be a fun application of the skills he has acquired to date. He has taken a strong interest and has been self teaching himself daily. It has been amazing to watch ho fast his skills have advanced.
Last year was our first year attending the Boston Comic Con and this weekend it arrived in Boston so we took the boys. It was a flurry of people, comics, costumes and all around fun. I normally don’t like to be in crowds that dense, but I took one for the team! It’s nice when we attend events because work can’t interfere and I love the feel of our little unit. Nick knew exactly what comics he was looking for and I even had a graphic novel in mind for myself. Apollo decided that he would add more Lego figures for his collection so we hunted down tables that sold them.
Apollo spotted The Mystery Machine on our way in to the convention center and we had to stop to take a photo. We still enjoy watching classic Scooby Doo so it was so much fun to see a real live Mystery Machine.
As the boys get older, it might be more challenging to find activities that everyone wants to do. So I am cherishing all these little memories and locking them in my heart for future savoring!
