Project Life: Week One

projectlifelogo1

Hello Everyone! For the past two years I have been wanting to include my journey with Project Life on my  blog but lack of time and the fact that I managed to get seriously behind made me refrain.  Last year, was my best year with it – I have only 4 months to complete last year’s album.  I have a pretty good system and a weekly craft hour with my girlfriend Ashley that helps keep me honest. I stopped traditional scrapbooking a while back and really wanted a way to capture our family memories and Project Life really seemed like a logical fit. This year I made even more changes to my system. One thing I am doing is limiting my options by using mostly two core kits. I think having too many choices can really slow me down.

week1bI use WeRMemory Keepers albums. I love the quality and color selection they have.  I chose to only include New Years day (January 1) as the start of the first week because I wanted to keep all 2014 in it’s own album. But I realized that many people included all the days in Week one which included the end of December. Week one included pictures of our New Year’s celebrations. We stayed over my in-laws house and she and I made a yummy Paella as one plate for the celebrations. Another fun thing I included is a little mystery game I started with Apollo and Nicholas. When we are out going to school or coming home we look around for footprints in the snow and try to guess what animal made them. It’s a lot of fun and it helps them to slow down and take notice of nature even if for a moment.

week1fA fun tradition that I learned when marrying Leao is the 12 wishes you make once it is new years. You make  a wish and then eat each grape. It’s fun and the boys just love doing it.

week1cAnother thing I’m doing now is using my handwriting for journaling. I used to type on the computer and although I would say I’m not a great fan of my handwriting, it’s faster to just right it out. I may from time to time if I need to fit more, type out a few but just being able to write it out is helping to streamline the process.

week1e

One thing we do a lot of when we are together with family is play board games. One of our favorite is Monopoly Empire. It’s so much fun and a lot faster than the traditional Monopoly game.

week1dMy mother-in-law is an amazing cook. She cooks the most delicious Cape Verdian dishes and her presentation is always a class act.  I always tell her if I were her child, I would have stayed in and eat her food all day instead of playing with friends.

week1a

And this is my week one of my 2015 Project Life album. Each week, I will share my journey with my memory keeping. I waited until I had a few weeks complete so that I could ensure content would be available to post. Have a blessed day everyone!

Project Life 2015!!

HeidiSwapPPI am starting off the new year with my first Project Life Haul. Generally, I don’t buy much because I subscribe to Cocoa Daisy’s Project Life monthly kits. So between that and my other products, I’m good.

HS_StencilsBut I was strolling around Michael’s over the holidays and saw this really cute kit by Heidi Swapp. Wow, she really is making a come back. I love the sparkle and glitz in the products. I even bought a set of Page Protectors and look how cool it is. She has gold writing and designs that will overlay your photos when you insert them into the pockets.  So I thought these products would be a great way to start my 2015 Project Life. I like the mini stencils too.

miniPLcardkitNow, on the confession front, I have not completed my 2014 album. Hold on don’t judge. I have worked on PL for a few years and this is the farthest I have gotten.  I have to print up the last 4 months of 2014 and then I can complete it. So my catch up plan is that I will complete one week of 2014 in conjunction with one week of 2015 until I have completed 2014 and then will only have 2015 to work on. So I will keep you abreast of my progress. One thing, I am not going to do is beat myself up for what I haven’t completed and rather celebrate all that I have achieved.

I will be back with my cover for 2015 when my new album arrives.

November 2014 Cocoa Daisy Project Life kit

nov2014kit1My November Project Life kit from Cocoa Daisy arrived last week and I have been wanting to show you what I received this month.

nov2014kit2These stickers are great. I haven’t had Heidi Swapp stuff in a long time and I am glad to see she is still around.  Evalicous label stickers will come in handy and the tiny alpha stickers are perfect for when I’m running low on space.

nov2014kit3I found the colors for the November kit not the typical fall colors but I am up for the challenge to make them work. I love the 4×6 cards with the calender on it. I think I will use that in the first week of November in my PL album.

nov2014kit4I like the little messages on the 3×4 cards.

nov2014kit6

More wood veneer embellies in this kit. I like the ones with hearts in them.  I definitely am going to use the cork arrows. The stamps are clear and once I stamp them I can show them to you. One is a pair of sneakers. I could use them when talking about shoe tying with the boys.

nov2014kit5There are even more 3×4 cards.  These are really vibrant and I can’t wait to use them.

nov2014kit7This is the rest of the cards. I like the messages on them and can’t wait to work them into my album.

Well I am off to go work on some cards.

Have a blessed Monday my friends!

Project Life: Major Catchin’ Up Time!!

majorcatchupWhat???Behind!!!!!….yup I’m behind on my Project Life. What happened you say?  Life.

I am taking the glass half full approach and going to praise myself for the work that I have done, rather than the months I have not.  This year I took a different approach and think it for the most part has been very helpful.

My dear friend, Ashley and I have a virtual scrap every Saturday morning that we call our Craft Hour from 9:30-11.  We both grab our tea (think she has coffee) and check in at 9:30 and send a picture of our desk and which week we plan to work on.  Ideally it would be the past week but we didn’t start doing this until we were both behind.  Then at the end of the time we send a picture of our completed work. It has been so much fun. She lives far away so we cherish the time even if we aren’t sitting next to each other.

But life has managed to get in the way and I fell behind big time. So I decided to order a big batch of photos (May, June,July) and plow through it. They just came today so I am going through and sticking them into their appropriate week and then I will go back and embellish and add the journaling. The goal is to complete this by the end of this month. It’s still a rather lofty goal but I got to aim high.

When I finish with the album, I will make some videos to share the work in it’s entirety.

Are any of you working on Project Life and if so, are you being like me?

Well I am off but I hope you have a blessed day!

Belinda
