Pumpkins

Hello and Happy Monday!

I was having some internet issues this morning so I am a bit delayed in this post.  I hope you all had a fun Halloween. Luckily the weather was decent so we were able to take the boys out for tricks and treats.  Apollo was a Samurai and Nicholas was a wizard. I even dressed as a Huntress.

Apollo brought home his pumpkin he decorated at school on Friday. It’s now placed on a shelf in my craft room so we can enjoy it’s cuteness.

Every year the boys ask me when are we going to carve pumpkins. I say soon. So this year I let them pick mini pumpkins and I drew the design and Leao carved (they are a bit to young to handle a knife).

pumpkincarving1Apollo wanted a face and Nicholas wanted an N on his. I think they came out really cute.  I took the seeds and roasted them. I remember my mom doing that  when I was a little girl and I would love the smell of them roasting.

Well I am going to go grab some lunch. But I will be back tomorrow with my second installment of my new blog series, Tag Tuesday tomorrow.

Have a blessed day friends.

Happy Halloween!!

halloween2014a

I made this little Halloween decor for my craft room with that same little which digi from Whimsy Stamps. I placed it on a shelf with my little pumpkin plant from Trader Joes.

I used these little black canvases I bought a while back at Michael’s. I was going to have my Silhouette cut it out closer but now I like it. It’s kind of like she has a little glow around her while she’s walking.

halloween2014dI had to fight with the boys to take down their Angry Birds flag so I could put up this cutie. It was given to me from my sweet neighbor Inez. She gave me a bunch of her flags when she moved and I love changing them. Notice all the leaves on the ground and still on the trees. I finally caved this year and yeterday I hired someone to remove them all. I just didn’t feel like spending time I could be crafting or with family raking leaves. It takes a long time to do our yard and I look forward to the sound of their leaf blowers taking my worries away!

Happy Halloween everyone!

unmade

Title: Unmade (The Lynburn Legacy #3)
Author: Sarah Rees Brennan
Copyright: September 23, 2014
Genre: fiction, fantasy, young adult
Format: paperback Pages: 400

Synopsis (from Goodreads):

Kami has lost the boy she loves, is tied to a boy she does not, and faces an enemy more powerful than ever before. With Jared missing for months and presumed dead, Kami must rely on her new magical link with Ash for the strength to face the evil spreading through her town.

Rob Lynburn is now the master of Sorry-in-the-Vale, and he demands a death. Kami will use every tool at her disposal to stop him. Together with Rusty, Angela, and Holly, she uncovers a secret that might be the key to saving the town. But with knowledge comes responsibility—and a painful choice. A choice that will risk not only Kami’s life, but also the lives of those she loves most.

This final book in the Lynburn Legacy is a wild, entertaining ride from beginning to shocking end.

My Thoughts on Unmade by Sarah Rees Brennan:

I heard about the first book in the series, Unspoken,  this past summer and I read the it in July. I loved it. You can see my review here. I couldn’t wait and rushed to read the second in the series, Unmade and again enjoyed the story.  Even all the way to the third book, I found my fascination with the idea of people being connected via their thoughts and feelings very intriguing. It could be sexy at times in the case of Cassie and Jared and down right awkward with Ash. It could also be invasive when you want private thoughts but I found it an interesting element in the story.

This third and final book in the series did deliver and I felt it was worth the read.  Cassie continued to be a strong character in the face of difficulty and still youthful in her inability to figure out Jared.  In the first book I used to get so angry with her logic when it came to him and then I realized the author is keeping her age appropriate in that regard while still providing her strength and bravery in all other areas.

I loved the secondary characters, Cassie’s friends, they have so much energy and really add to the story. I found myself laughing at times at comments from her friend Angela and her brother.  They all helped to bring the story to life.

The beauty of coming to books late, is that the wait for the next books in the series are little to none in some cases. So I find my late arrival to the table of some good reads works out great for me.

I enjoyed the books in this series a great deal and would recommend them. It was a fun read that held my interest and for that reason I gave it 4 butterflies!

Happy Reading friends!

Card: Birthday Kisses Card

bernibdaycard1One would think that being that I own an online craft store selling cards and other paper goodies that I would have a great stash of Birthday cards available to send to friends and family.  Well I hate to bust that illusion out to space but, that is not my reality.  I tend to wait until last minute and put together something. A little stressful yes but that’s what I do.

bernibdaycard2

So yesterday (on my sister’s birthday) I made her this card.  I used Simple Stories ‘Happy Day’ paper that I have horded like forever. I love the rich somewhat muted colors. They make me think of fall.  I added some bling and colored up a Saturated Canary digi.  I added a little Wink of Stella to her lips to give her the lip gloss look. I like using my digis in multiple ways. This one was meant to be a Valentine image but I thought it would be cute as a birthday so I added the words in Silhouette and print and cut her out.

bernibdaycard3I pulled out a kraft envelope from my stash (Thank you Ashley for getting me to order bulk with you!) and sized the card accordingly.

bernibdaycard4The inside I used coordinating paper and left it simple so I can write a clever message in it. Possibly begging for forgiveness for m tardiness.

Well I am off to do some more crafting. I hope you all have a blessed day!
