30 Day Coloring Challenge #4: Day 17 – Coloring a Goddess

logoGood evening! It’s day 17 of the challenge. Yesterday we went to the Boston Museum of Science with the boys and had a blast but I was wiped out when we got home so no coloring was happening at my house!

day17

Today I started working on a coloring page that I printed onto copic paper and began coloring it with my Copics. I love this picture of this West African goddess called Oshun. I had never heard of her before I saw her on this coloring page. I colored her skin and hair first as I often do and then began to color the leaves, vines and tree. I did a little more than this but I don’t like to shoot photos without natural daylight so I will finish it up tomorrow and share it in tomorrow’s post. I typically color smaller images so this was really fun.

Happy coloring!

30 Day Coloring Challenge #4: Day 16 -Clean lines card

logoHello Everyone! It’s day 16 of coloring goodness. Today I finished coloring up the garden beauty and made her into a card. I chose to keep this to what I call a clean lines card in that I just let the image be present without any distractions like patterned paper or embellishments. I just wanted to focus on the image so I added a little bit of earth to ground the image and put it directly onto the card base.

I used my MISTI to add the sentiment which was from WPlus9.

I really like how she came out and think I will add more cards like this in the future.

Today I am taking the boys to one of their favorite local comic book stores called WebHead Comics and then off to the library for a little browsing. It’s all about books today!

I hope you all are well and I’ll be back tomorrow.

Happy coloring!

30 Day Coloring Challenge #4: Day 15 – Coloring up this garden beauty

logoHello! It’s Wednesday…wow this week is going by fast. It’s vacation week for the boys and we have been spending time with family and also doing day trips. Today we had appointments and a few errands to tackle before I could pull out my markers and play.

day15a

I pulled out this garden beauty from Saturated Canary. I don’t know if it’s the strange weather we are having that is making me think about spring or what but I printed her out and started coloring.

day15b

I typically start with the skin and hair when I color. I love the curly hair on this image but I haven’t quite mastered coloring it up. More practice will give me more opportunities to play around with color and techniques.

day15c

I wanted to complete the card today but I have dinner to make and then quality time with Leao and the boys so tomorrow I will finish up the coloring and make a card.

Happy coloring!

30 Day Coloring Challenge #4: Day 14 – Some Coloring Practice with Copics

logoHello Everyone! I squeezed in some coloring today – Yipee!! Not as much as I would have liked but I like that this challenge doesn’t have a time requirement.

day14a

This is a bird that I had from the online copic cardmaker class. So I played around with some funky color combos for these birds.

day14bThe technique I was practicing is called tip-to-tip coloring. It’s when you use two colors that are far away from each other and then take the lightest color and place it on the tip of the darker maker to make a shade that’s in between the two colors making for a nice blend. It’s great for when you have limited colors.

Tomorrow, I have to run the boys on some errands so prepare for another late post tomorrow. I’m just glad to still be at the challenge on day 14.

Happy coloring my friends!
