Having fun with scraps…

scraps1

Hello! I was going through my baskets that contain my 6×6 paper pads and came across these pretty scraps remaining from some projects I made in the past and I decided to put them to good use. I grabbed my two Fiskars’ punches and some foam dots and made some cute dimensional accents I can use on Project Life, scrapbooks and cards.  I just love looking at all them.

So funny how scraps can be magically transformed with a little imagination and avoid the fate of the garbage pail!

I hope I inspired you to find more ways to use those scraps you might have laying around your craft rooms.

New Product Release at Belinda’s Crafts – two new Valentine’s cards

valentine4

Hello Everyone, happy Tuesday! I am pleased to share with you two new cards I created to put on my Etsy shop.  Lately I haven’t spend much time talking about my experience with developing this company. One of my goals of this site when I created it was to document my journey creating this company as well as share my personal creative endeavors. I now know after running this company for almost two years, that there is definitely an ebb and flow a peak and a valley when it comes to the process. I have times where I am bursting at the seams with ideas and production is up and then there are times when I can’t break past my procrastination or life with two little boys keep me from even sitting at my desk to create.

An important thing for me is to feel good with taking a step back from time to time and not feeling guilty. It’s a balance.  A good friend of mine who had her own business once told me that the company more or less will consume me as it did for her. So I have made it a point to keep mindful of boundaries. To still create fun stuff for me and this blog is one example of that.  It is one of those outlets that lets me babble and share ideas with friends. So when I completed these cards a few days ago, I was pleased to have something for the shop but worked on not beating myself up for not having more to products to sell. Because at the end of the day, I have been having fun and been playing Wii with my boys. I simply refuse to miss out on this goodness that is before me.

The two cards are Valentine cards that I created using lovely Saturated Canary digis.  I used both a Basic Grey collection and My Minds Eye for the paper and super cute MFT stamps for the sentiments. I hope you enjoy them. I will be placing them up on Etsy later today.

Have a blessed day my friends!

Silhouette Sunday #4 – Organizing your physical cut files

snapalbum1

Hello Everyone! Last week we talked about organizing your Silhouette files in Silhouette Studio/Designer Edition software.  This week, I am sticking to the same organization theme.  One thing that will help you to use those amazing cut files that you have is to go ahead and cut them.

Since I do Project Life and scrapbook, I have a lot of cut files that I use as embellishments and/or 3×4 cards to fit in the page protectors. So I chose a Snap 3-ring album with the Simple Stories Mix and Match 3 by 4/4-inch by 6-inch page protectors to store some of my cut files.  I pick files and fill the page with them cut them by the sheet. This way I have extra ones to use when I need them.  It also keeps the files visible which means I am more likely to use them.

snapalbum1I like these page protectors because I can store small cut files in the smaller pockets and larger files like the 3×4 card I am holding in the picture above.

snapalbum2I can keep the small files like the hearts you see in the picture above and I don’t lose them. I can just pull one out and attach it to a scrapbook layout or in my Project Life (PL) album.

snapalbum4This year, the chalkboard look is popular so I cut a bunch of these chalkboard wordbubbles to use in my PL and layouts.

snapalbum3The nice thing is that you can see through the pages so you can see all of the files and to be honest once cut, I want to use them. It’s also portable to take to a crop and you have your own accents.

snapalbum5I know this post is photo-heavy but I love this butterfly flourish file and wanted to show you it. I also plan on adding more full page protectors so I can cut out a bunch of the pretty doily files I have to use on cards and layouts. At this time I don’t have the tabs categorized but something I may end up doing depending on how much I fill the album up.

What type of systems do you use for your files or do you cut at you need them?

Preparing for Valentine’s Day

valentinescards

I am gearing up for Valentine’s Day around here. I am thinking of a “14 Days of Love” in our home. I want to make little love notes for Leao and the boys and give them one a day from February 1st to Valentine’s Day. So I have been scouring Silhouette’s store to find some quick cuties. I am also working on a banner to hang in my craft room. I like to include decorations in my craft room to get me in the mood.

Last year, I bought red metal mailboxes for each of us to decorate and place in a location so that each day we can exchange notes.  I found a cute mailbox on the Silhouette store and depending on how durable I can make it, I might make one for each of us.  My boys tend to be a little rough so paper mailboxes although perfect for me, might spell disaster. So I will see how it comes out.

Are you planning any Valentine’s activities in your home? I am always looking for more ideas.

Have a great weekend!

Belinda
