Happy Monday – Love is in the air.

I was walking around my local Target last week and was confronted by a sea of red. All the Christmas clearance has been swept away and replaced by aisles of chocolate and red hearts. So I thought I would pull out some of my dies and patterned paper and make a few Valentine’s cards. I am in desperate need of some cleaning in my craft room and I own quite a bit of product and dies to use for some Valentine’s cards but I didn’t feel like searching so I grabbed the closes ones I could find and whipped these cuties up.

Last year, I fell in love with sentiment strips and how easy they are to use so I reached for them today. I would also like to design my own. They are rather simple to create. I just need to take some time and design some on my silhouette. (adding to my to-do list).

I think I will play around some more with the ‘love’ products in my stash this week. I don’t want to just call them Valentine’s products because I feel like we should share the love all year round so I am specifically making my cards without saying, Valentine.

We had a huge blizzard here over the weekend and I have to say that I do love the bright reflection of the sun on the snow this morning. It’s bright and cheery. The main roads are plowed nicely but the back roads, as usual, are a bit of a challenge. Looking forward to some of it melting later this week with the warmer temps coming. In the meantime, I will stay in my craft room and enjoy the view from inside!

Happy Monday!

Silhouette Sunday #15 – Making Valentines

feb15_2015b

I haven’t been posting much about my Silhouette on my blog because life seems to keep me busy but I grabbed the opportunity to play and bought some great files from SVGCuts. So I’m posting my Silhouette Sunday on Monday. Don’t hate.

I received the new Cameo for Christmas so I am anxious to cut large files. So I bought some great box cards I could use to make some Valentine’s.

feb15_2015cI think I could use this one for birthdays. My girlfriends would love this. It ‘s so cute in person. I cut out plastic to put inside the frames to make them really look like glasses.

feb15_2015dAfter I assembled all of the components then I glued it all together. A great tip I received from my friend Cathy is to turn off the cut for the dashed lines intended for folding and use the bone folder and hand-score them yourself. This way, you can insure it won’t rip from overuse.

feb15_2015eI just realized while typing this I forgot the black buckle that is suppose to go over the gray rectangle! Oops.

feb15_2015fThe back has a large place to leave a sentiment. I think I might even embellish it with some stamps.

ignite1This second card I made for Leao for Valentine’s day. It is so stinkin’ cute. I used a textured paper to make the matches and they are so cute.

ignite2It even cut out little tips for the matches to make them look real. I really like the cut files from SVGCuts.

ignite3Here is the fully assembled card. It’s so creative. I will definitely be making this one again.

ignite4On the back it had a nice size area for writing sweet sentiments. I didn’t fill it out before photographing because that is for my Valentine’s eyes only!!!

ignite5I added purls instead of the paper for the dots for more bling and used a sparkly yellow paper for the light parts of the flame for a cool affect.

He loved it and now has it on desk in his home office.

I hope you are having fun with your Silhouette. I will try to get back into posting more because my love for that machine is still strong.

Happy crafting!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

valentinescards3

Hello!! Happy Valentine’s Day. Yes…that was my Silhouette you heard humming at 8:30 last night. Somehow I managed to forget to make Valentine’s cards for the boys’ teachers. I always make them and then buy the store versions for the kids to swap with their friends.  Well we had a snow day yesterday and the boys were home and I managed to forget what I had to do for the day.  So yes, I snatched up the easiest file I could find and cut out these cards.  I have also made an extra one for the crossing guard.  I am always so amazed how she manages to get out there way before all the kids are released from school and stand in that bitter cold. I stay in my car until the last minute and I still freeze my butt off. I wonder what kind of thermals she wears?  Anyway I made an extra one for her.

I also made a few for my son’s ‘special valentines’. I printed up some digis and colored them up real quick.

The boys completed their cards too. Apollo is sitting at his new desk in his bedroom writing his cards.  I am so happy they have desks now. They both like to write and especially at bedtime so they will be well used.

Our seven days of love has gone well. I even received a chocolate in my mailbox last night from my husband. (Love that man.).  Well I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s day and a great weekend.

New Product Release at Belinda’s Crafts – two new Valentine’s cards

valentine4

Hello Everyone, happy Tuesday! I am pleased to share with you two new cards I created to put on my Etsy shop.  Lately I haven’t spend much time talking about my experience with developing this company. One of my goals of this site when I created it was to document my journey creating this company as well as share my personal creative endeavors. I now know after running this company for almost two years, that there is definitely an ebb and flow a peak and a valley when it comes to the process. I have times where I am bursting at the seams with ideas and production is up and then there are times when I can’t break past my procrastination or life with two little boys keep me from even sitting at my desk to create.

An important thing for me is to feel good with taking a step back from time to time and not feeling guilty. It’s a balance.  A good friend of mine who had her own business once told me that the company more or less will consume me as it did for her. So I have made it a point to keep mindful of boundaries. To still create fun stuff for me and this blog is one example of that.  It is one of those outlets that lets me babble and share ideas with friends. So when I completed these cards a few days ago, I was pleased to have something for the shop but worked on not beating myself up for not having more to products to sell. Because at the end of the day, I have been having fun and been playing Wii with my boys. I simply refuse to miss out on this goodness that is before me.

The two cards are Valentine cards that I created using lovely Saturated Canary digis.  I used both a Basic Grey collection and My Minds Eye for the paper and super cute MFT stamps for the sentiments. I hope you enjoy them. I will be placing them up on Etsy later today.

Have a blessed day my friends!

Belinda
