What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #564

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends!! I am checking in to say I am still doing well despite the homebound situation. Each day I pop outside and sit on my deck steps to get some fresh air and that is helping. It looks like decent weather for the next three days so I will get more time outside in my yard.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Set up for painting the background.

My desk is witness to the crafting that has been happening. I started on Sunday with this lovely picture in Kerby Rosanes’ “Mythomorphia” coloring book. His pictures are known for having a lot of detail so I decided to grab my black acrylic paint and paint the entire background black. Kind of a night scene. Once I did that it really made the image pop.

I like how it looks with a black background.

I was inspired by a YouTube colorist and began coloring the minotaur ( At least I think that is what it is.) in colors to make him look like jade.

I love the idea of it being made of jade.

Down to about 7 toilet paper rolls left. My husband has been going out for over a week to find toilet paper. It’s insane. Thank goodness I am the only female in the house so less toilet paper used!! The things we have to think about more closely now. Our food supplies are good. We have a large freezer in our basement which is filled and I set up pantry shelves down there too and they are filled with non-perishable items. So I think on that front, we are well. I have been baking like a little Martha Stewart to fill the house with sweet smells to raise everyone’s spirits. The problem is that I am gaining weight!! I think when I finally emerge I might be unrecognizable.

My craft room display.

I think I want to leave you all on a positive note. This is my display area in my craft room and it’s celebrating spring. It’s the first thing you see when you enter my space so it sets the tone. I hope you all are all well and I really enjoyed snooping last week. I will definitely be popping by today and tomorrow.

Be well, my friends.

  1. Hi Belinda, great job with the baking. We too have plenty of stock, always keep the freezer full, and a pantry cupboard always full with non perishables. Love your craft room display, looks fab. Stay safe,Have a good week, Huge hugs, Shaz #1 X

  2. The black background is an inspired touch, it looks great and the jade beastie is fab! It’s ridiculous about toilet rolls isn’t it? Hope you’re all keeping safe and well.
    Hugs LLJ 2 xx

  3. There are 3 girls ( two boys) here so we always have a reasonable supply of t roll ( thank goodness!! ) had to go out and get milk today – while i was picking up medications. My lot are not good at rationing and i NEED my coffee ! Take Care and keep safe. soojay #21

  4. Glad you have plenty of food if not toilet rolls… love the colouring – the page is fantastic Helen #5

  5. The art work in these colouring books is amazing there are some very talented artists. Some fool on the TV mentioned that toilet rolls were going fast and the whole world went mad, will these reporters never learn to be careful what they say. There are people who made the situation worse by buying up as much as they could and then selling them on line for ridiculous amounts, we can only hope that the situation calms down. Take care and wishing you a happy creative woyww, Angela x3x

  6. What a lovely welcome to your room, Spring has certainly sprung in there with those pretty colours.
Shame about the loo roll but at least you have food. We are ok for toilet paper and honestly did not buy a single roll when the news about buying in became public knowledge, what we have is what we had prior to all of this. Unfortunately not so on the food front – I had my last potato two or three days ago and won’t get any more until the delivery on the 9th April as we are both self isolating.
Love your colouring and an excellent idea to go jade and black.
    Hugs, Neet 7 xx

  7. Hi Belinda. Wow – that’s going to be some picture when it is finished – great colouring. Give the shopping situation a little while, and it will be calmer. Our local shop now has filled shelves already. Almost every product available. I went out Sunday, but left it until the place had been open for about an hour and a half – and it was fine. Folk seem to have a panic button which kicks in at the slightest thing – it’s much more settled now.
Take care in this strange situation. Keep praying. Stay safe. God bless.

Hi Belinda, I love he idea of having a seasonal display space – maybe I’ll try it if I ever manage to make some room in this craft room!! I don’t think I could do that colouring, I decided I don’t really like colouring big pictures, I don’t have the patience and it winds me up more than being ‘mindful’!!. I did recently do a short class doing zentanging and I did enjoy that. Sorry to hear about the loo roll problem – hope it gets resolved soon!! Happy WOYWW (I’m late I know) keep well, keep safe, Cindy #23

  9. What a brilliant display area in your craft room Belinda and a gorgeous colouring page in progress. Glad you are stocked up on the food front. Hope you can get loo roll soon. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #10

  10. Love the Jade dragon, beautifully painted! I am glad my picture of Annie made you laugh 🙂 She is looking a lot tidier today after a bath and a trim. I do hope you fin loo rolls soon. Take care Angela x

Wow colouring the background really did the trick to help you work on the main subject and the jade colour is gorgeous. Hope you find some toilet paper …. we are definitely rationing the number of sheets any one person can use. Oh the look on the face of daughter was priceless. Stay safe and keep colouring.

  12. I love your display area, Belinda. I have one, too, but never really change it around – it’s mostly full of things other people have made for me, with a few of my own bits and pieces, but I love the idea of changing it with the seasons! Your colouring page is fantastic. A great idea to paint the background in black to make the image stand out. Fortunately we’ve still got plenty of loo rolls. I always stock up when they are on special offer and keep them in the bottom of the airing cupboard. However, we are rationing ourselves somewhat, just in case. With an ileostomy, I do need to use more than usual but am trying to be abstemious! Surely all the panic buyers will soon be so inundated with toilet rolls that they will become available again in a normal way… Our pantry, fridge and freezer are well stocked and I always have huge stocks of non-perishable whole foods like chickpeas, nuts and grains etc. as well as lots of herbs and spices, and so far, fresh veg hasn’t been too much of a problem to get, so I can continue to produce good meals! The lockdown hasn’t affected me too much because I’m home all the time anyway, but the added bonus is having my hubby around all the time too – he’s normally out and about such a lot and I hardly know where he is most of the time!

Keep well and safe, and happy belated WOYWW,

  13. Hi Belinda,
What a good idea to have a changing display. I’m such a magpie that some of my treasures end up not seeing the light of day once they’ve been put aside to make way for something new. I can’t bear to part with them but there is’nt enough shelf room! I can see that witha system like this then everything would get a moment to shine.
I was thinking that that soft green wall was the perfect backdrop for a Spring display, but then realised it would actually work beautifully for all the seasons – with yellows and greens in summer, russets and golds in autumn, and red and white in winter. Lovely!
    Have a good weekend.

  14. That’s a lovely Spring time display Belinda but I have to say i’m so impressed by you painting the background of your colouring page in black, such a delicate task with the paint brush it’s sure to look dynamic when finished.
Stay safe & enjoy those crafty moments Tracey #19 x
