Cardmaking with Apollo..(photo heavy post)

Working on the card base.

Working on the card base.

Hello Everyone! Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. I actually had a lot of fun and one thing I wanted to share with you is the joy I had working with Apollo on his first Halloween card.  He loves my Silhouette and although I have only had it a few months, he has picked up quite a bit.  I found this great Halloween card file on the free files at the Silhouette website and picked out papers for two cards – one for him and one for me.

Working with the tiny eyes for the ghost was a great challenge for him.

I cleared off my little Project Life table and set it up next to my desk near the Silhouette and layed out his supplies.  He really enjoyed putting all the pieces together.

Gluing small pieces of paper were some good fine motor skills practice.

It was so much fun watching him assemble the pieces. Although I did end up helping him with the glue for the eyes and mouth.

Gluing the little things were a little more challenging.

I like that he wasn’t discouraged at all and kept working to complete the card.

This was a fun first project from the Silhouette for him.

I love the focus this 6 year old had to complete his card.

The tricky part was getting the word ‘Boo’ down leaving enough room for the exclamation point.

Assembling it all together and pressing to make sure the glue takes.

I think it is safe to say he loved his card.

Look my first Halloween card!

I am more than thrilled that he has an interest in my crafts and that we can experience some together.

Have a blessed day!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #221

Hello Everyone!

First let me say thank you so much for all the love you lovely ladies left on my blog last week. It was the lift I need while dealing with this foot pain.  This week’s update: I am thinking of seeing a chiropractor for pain in my back and left side that might possibly be contributing to a miss alignment hence the foot problem. My doctor is leaning towards Planter Faciatis. My inserts (not custom orthodics) don’t seem to be working so we are going try another before committing to the hefty price for custom orthodics.  I made it to many desks last week but promise to get to anyone I missed this week.

So I have a hording tendency that doesn’t allow for me to part with my newest pretty stuff.  So today I actually broke the seal on two new paper packs I have (corrugate neutrals ad The Glitzy Pastels by DCWV).

I used my Silhouette to cut out the cute balloons.

Have I said lately how much I love my Silhouette?  Well, I do and the best part is that I haven’t even scratched the surface.  I made a easel card base. I really love cutting and scoring and prepping the base.  More will definitely be made.

You can click here to see my post that has the completed card.

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #219

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all well. I hope to visit more desks this week since my friend who was visiting left yesterday.  So very sad. We only see each other once a year.

This week I am playing mad catch up on Project Life(PL). I thought it best to start with this past week and then work my way back since all the memories are fresh.

My desk this week is filled with mostly Project Life stuff.

On the left is the PL album. Lot’s of beach fun.  Beach pictures always make me smile so this was a lot of fun to work on.  Up top is my favorite Starbucks cup (only filled with water today).  On the top right are some of my fall stamps I pulled out in preparation for making some cards.  There is one image I colored up last year that I need to make into a card.  The cute little brads are buttons and I have had them for over 7 years. But guess what? I am proud to say I just used them again.  I also have a rubber stamp from Saturated Canary that I finished cuting out waiting to be mounted on foam so I can use it.  Some Spellbinders I intend on using to make some windows on cards.

I just found this template in the Silhouette store under bundles. It is a waterfall template for Project Life. Helps me squeeze in more photos.

So I set to work to cut and assemble one.

It came out great.

It came out great.

I intend on making more of these for future PL layouts. It’s easy to assemble once you make it once.

It holds 4 photos in the waterfall.

I chose pictures of my best friend and I at the beach. I thought that I made the right choice since they are printed very small so no harm done to our egos (I think…).

Inside you can add one more larger (3x4) photo.

I will write some journaling to put on the top flap.

Well I kept you long enough. Thank you for visiting. I am off to snoop on your desks!

Silhouette Sundays #1: The beginning

Silhouette Sundays: Tea, Silhouette and me equals a recipe for a whole lot of fun.

Silhouette Sundays: Tea, Silhouette and me equals a recipe for a whole lot of fun!

Hello Everyone! I am adding a new feature to my blog posts – Silhouette Sundays.  So please check in regularly to see what’s happening in my Silhouette world!

First let me say that have owned a Cricuit Expression for a few years now and enjoyed using it but for my birthday this past June, my husband bought me a Silhouette Portrait and my whole world has changed. I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am about this tool because you would undoubtedly get bored and click to another blog and we don’t want that happening!

There is so much information out there about the Silhouette and I am a newbie so why follow this blog? For that exact reason, I am a newbie and I will not only make mistakes from which we can learn from, but newbies can’t get enough of a new thing so I can share all the cool stuff I learn and find on the web.

Each Sunday, my posts will vary. Sometimes it might be a completed project with information on how to get the resources to make your own. Other weeks it might be links to really awesome resources. Other weeks I might share a mistake and walk you through the solution. I am so challenging myself to learn something about the various mediums (e.g. vinyl, fabric, glass, etc.)  each month that I can use on the Silhouette and create a project which I will share here.

So do come back and more importantly, share your knowledge with me so we can walk the Silhouette path together.

See you next Sunday!

Belinda
