30 Day Coloring Challenge #4 – Day 1

challenge_graphic-June-650Do you remember the coloring challenge I participated in last year?  Well if you do, it’s back!! Kathy at The Daily Marker is at it again. She hosted it three times last year and each time, I try to complete it.

The Challenge begins today, February 1st and ends on March 1st.  All I have to do is spend a minimum of 5 minutes and color each day then share what I am creating. They don’t have to be finished cards or projects, just coloring. I like this because for me it takes the pressure off and let’s me play. So on some days I might have something complete and on others you will just see what I’m playing with. I will mostly be using my Copics, but I will also use my watercolor paint, watercolor pencils and distress markers from time to time. I hope by blogging and putting my stuff on Instagram, I will stay honest to the task.

I do notice a lot of people completing projects already on day one but I am not going to let that discourage me from joining in.  Today I had every intention of spending a fair amount of time coloring however, some work and an extremely long phone call robbed me of the opportunity to stay with it long.

day1a

Today, in honor of Black History Month, I chose to use a coloring book that my friend, Kathryn gave me for the boys.  She thought it would be both fun and educational. I love it because rarely do you see a coloring book about slavery. It seems now it is all the craze to have “adult” coloring books. I have had this for years now and many others. So perhaps I can use this challenge to actually color up the pages in the many in my possession!

I recently bought some more Prismacolor pencils that were on sale. They are the scholar version which is probably a bit lower grade quality but it had so many more colors, I thought I would give them a go. I am noticing that the colors are not very vibrant but I will keep playing around with them a bit to see what I can do. Perhaps the muted colors match the solemn topic.

day1b

I selected the page with Harriet Tubman and started coloring her up. I often find myself taking so much time to pick which color combinations to use but I am trying not to let that hold me up so today I picked more plain colors to fit the setting. I was not able to complete it and I must go make some dinner but maybe before bed I squeeze in a little more time to complete this page.  It’s quite relaxing because you focus on what you are doing rather than letting your brain run wild. I hope you will join in the fun. Let me know what your coloring?

day1c

Happy coloring and I will see you tomorrow!

30-Day Coloring Challenge: Day 6: A Cup of Thanks

challenge_graphic-4-revisedToday was a bit of a struggle to get to my coloring. Appointments and errands filled a large part of my day and then homework help when the boys came home. So I had to squeeze this in before dinner time.

day5

This is an old stamp from Flourishes. They are no longer in business but they had the most beautiful stamps. Again I love teacups so thought in honor of all the cups I have had this winter, I might color up a little cup of tea.  I was rushing so much that  I didn’t color tea in the cup!  But if it was my cup that’s how mine would look (almost empty).

I used washi tape on this quick card and realized that it wrinkled on the bottom. Well that just gives this card some character right?

I’m just happy that although not my best, I did squeeze in 20 minutes of coloring today.

Have fun coloring!

30-Day Coloring Challenge: Day 5 – Gift boxes

challenge_graphic-4-revised

Oh today was a bit trickier. I am still visiting with family today. But I ran into the dining room with my Copics and got to coloring. I colored up another image from the PowerPoppy set.  This image is so cute and I definitely want to use it on come birthday cards. I like coloring presents. I used some go to color combos. I didn’t finish the image because we need to go soon. I am trying to decide if I want to make the flowers a yellow shade or violet. Suggestions welcome.

day4a

I also printed up the color chart for the Copics. I haven’t done this in a long time and have new colors that aren’t on the old chart.

day4bIt looks like I have less markers now. Guess I need to go marker shopping!!

Well I am so pleased that I made it to day 5 of this challenge. I always start strong and then drop off but I am determined to keep on. Thanks for taking the ride with me.

30-Day Coloring Challenge: Day 4 – Best Book Ever

challenge_graphic-4-revised

Today I am away from my craft room visiting family. I took 30 minutes out and colored for 30 minutes at my mother-in-law’s dining room. The natural light pouring in from the windows is absolutely amazing. So as not to be rude I only colored up one image from that same set from PowerPoppy.

imageThis stamp has many of things I love all in one image. It has flowers, tea and a book. I am going to play around with different color combinations when I  get home. This would be a great image for a bookworm friend especially on her birthday.

Hope you are having a fun weekend. I am happy because after a long winter of isolation, today we get to spend time with family and I’m pretty sure I might win a round of Old Maid tonight (perhaps positive thoughts will lead me to victory!).

Have a blessed day!

Belinda
