12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts: Day 1 – Cardinal Card

day1_cardinalcard1

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a nice holiday. I had a great time. We stayed with my in-laws for 3 days and it was a lot of great food and fun. This morning we had a slow start back to school and I had to drive Nicholas’ lunch to school which I somehow forgot to pack in his bag!

So I thought it might be fun to have my very own 12 days of holiday cards and crafts for this blog.  So today is day one and I made his card using a Stampendous stamp that I have had for way too long without using it. I made a top-folding card and used Stampin Up Cardstock for the base and I cut a strip of glitter paper for more sparkle.  The flower is from the dollar bin at Michael’s.

I used a Flourishes stamp for the greeting inside.  I just love birds and Cardinals are one of my favorites. I just had to have this stamp when I saw it. I also love that the sheet music was part of the image too. Very cool. So I used a little Distress ink to age the paper a bit.

My props were super easy: Dollar store plate and some ornaments I use on my mini tree I put up in my craft room.

I hope you are all having a blessed day and keep on crafting!

My Sidekicks…

mysidekicksEvery great hero has a sidekick. Lately mine has been my Nook, my book and my planner.  This morning I was looking at them and really appreciating how they coordinate.  For me, having a book around me makes me happy. Because if I can steal a moment, than I will dive right in.  I am currently reading ‘A Thousand Pieces of You’ in print and ‘Half the Sky’ on my Nook.  I will post reviews when I complete them.

I typically only carry my planner around the house and it’s home is on my craft table so I can access my written calender anytime. I think the fact that it is so pretty, helps me spend more time with it than my previous planners.

Well, I’m off to the dentist and I bet you can’t guess what’s coming with me!!

Do you have sidekicks?

Take note and let me know below.

Have a blessed day!

Tag Tuesday: #2 – Fall blessings

nov4_2014a

Hello and welcome to Tag Tuesday. For my second installment, I thought a fall theme. Although the temperatures here lately make me think of winter.  I used a digi from The Paper Shelter and colored her up with my Copics. I bought this image because it reminded me of my love hate relationship with fall. I am a big fan of the fall on the east coast.  I love the crisp air and smell of wood burning and am still in awe of the vibrant colors when the leaves change.  The relationship typically sours when the leaves start to fall. Because then I am faced with raking and bagging them.  So this year, I got on board and we have hired someone to do this for us so we can use those hours doing something we enjoy and my back is also grateful.

I used Crate Paper ‘Farmhouse for the paper on this tag.  The deep rich colors make me happy.  I pulled a coordinating ribbon out of my stash and then topped it with this fun wool-like flower from Recollections. For the words I used a Jillibean Soup label from my Project Life stash.

I hope you are having a great day. Today is election day and I will be heading out to vote this morning with my boys and then treating them to the movies.

Have a blessed day!

Copic Card: Keepin’ Cool

polarbear1

Hello Everyone! I am here today with a card I colored up with my Copics.  I haven’t made a card in about two months. So I am shaking off the cobwebs and slowly starting to get back to craftin’.  My Project Life is now officially way behind but I am coming up with a comeback plan for that too.  I just took the summer to enjoy some reading and relaxing and now I am trying to find a way to bring back my craft projects. During the summer months I tend to garden and read a lot so between that and my family, it leaves little time to really work on my craft projects.

Enough about that, I have been wanting to use this digi I got for free months ago at Just Inked. I finally got around to it and have been loving using the pretty sequins from Lawn Fawn. Surprisingly, the sequins stay put pretty well once dried. I think I used Scotch Quick-dry Adhesive and it dries clear. I think you will be seeing a lot more sequins on my cards.

One thing I would like to work on this year is creating my own backgrounds. I created the one for this card but really want to learn how to improve my techniques.

Well I am off to do a little craftin’.

Have a blessed day.
