Hello Everyone and Happy Valentines Day! I haven’t posted a WOYWW post in months. Funny how time blows by and you don’t realize how long it’s been until you really focus. My son actually asked me when was the last time I posted on WOYWW and I was so thrilled that he brought it up, that I told him not for a while but I will this week. He seemed to be happy about it. I think he likes the idea of peeking on desks around the world. So here I am.

On my desk is one of my new coloring books. You can also see my new Kum pencil sharpener in the blue bowl which is my new favorite sharpener. It makes beautiful sharp points. You can also see a return address stamp I made on my Silhouette before Christmas to use on my Christmas cards. I loved it so much I ordered more stamping supplies!! Over the last few months, I have been immersing myself in the world of colored pencils and adult coloring books. As some of you may know, I am a Copics girl and really have enjoyed coloring with them for years. But the beauty of the craft world is that there are so many mediums to explore to keep oneself happy for a lifetime and I thought this would be a nice skill to add to develop alongside my Copic skills. I realized that just as with Copics, there are papers and other products that can help to enhance the colored pencil experience. So I consider myself a newbie and have been loving watching videos on YouTube of people coloring and teaching techniques.
I have been learning what tools can help and how to use the pencils to create different effects. Being a crafter, I know the learning will be slow and remain patient with the process. After all, it’s supposed to be relaxing. That said, If you look at the photo, I have one leaf left to color but for the life of me I am not sure what color to use. Any suggestions?
I will take some time today for the rest of this week peeking at desks. I can’t wait to see what you all are working on.

I decided I wanted to make some for Valentine’s Day so I quickly searched my Silhouette files for cute cut files and resized them to fit my mini envelopes.
I used some 6×6 paper pads, my scissors, my Zig glue stick, bone folder and of course the tab punch tool.
They end up being the cutest 2×2 mini envelopes. I love how the lips and love looked on the paper.
This is a back view of the envelope. I plan on placing a little note inside them for my intended Valentine! So the next time you pick up a tool, don’t hesitate to look online for additional ways to use them.
Flowers are a love of mine and I was thinking about them over the holidays. Throughout the spring and summer, I frequently share photos from around my garden of my lovely flowers. During the winter months, I wait for my indoor flowering which occurs in a very short period of time. I have quite a few and a Christmas cactuses and several orchids. Then when they are done showing off, I buy cut flowers and vase them throughout my home.
So I got to thinking and I thought of a new series I would like to share with you called Friday’s Flowers where I will use my trusty Silhouette and cut out and make paper flowers. I will aim to post these at least two Fridays a month and best case, every Friday.
So our first beauty is called an Evening Primrose. I first bought a primrose over 11 years ago. I was shopping with my mother and I saw it’s vibrant colors and the rough foliage and fell for them. I was happy to hear that they were one of the first flowers to bloom in the winter. Because that is the time of year, that I start to get anxious for the heat to return so my flowers will come back. I placed some in my tree ring in my side-yard and they did come up as planned but I just didn’t think they were good for that location aesthetically. So I pulled them out. I never bought more but still find them pretty to look at.
This cut file is for the yellow variety but I really liked the rare blue evening primrose. The contrast is amazing. I tried to recreate the colors with my cardstock and Silhouette.
Now that I look at this image from the internet, I think I will chalk the edges of the petals to create even more of a likeness.
Now I can go listen to the first video prompt. I will try to share some of the exercises as I complete them. Some are journaling some are more art-based exercises. I hope to do better this year with the prompts and sharing my journey on this blog.
