Happy Mail: New Stamps

Latest stamp order.

Hello! I have been ordering new supplies and products like a madwoman lately. Today one of my orders arrived with some wonderful stamps and a coordinating die.

The top one made me think of fall so I am thinking of some autumnal cards. I also think I can use the sentiments, leaf and pumpkin will be good to use in my bullet journals.

The next stamp is called Lotus lady and I thought she would be good for the some of the spiritual cards I would like to offer.

Underneath the Lotus Lady is a wonderful floral stamp with a large sentiment in the middle. These are cool stamps because they cover the entire cardfront and I can color them in different colors. They also included extra flowers so I can make it more dimensional. I am so excited to work with this one.

The bottom stamp is so cool. It is a 4-season window scene. I bougtht the matching dies because my fussing cutting days are over whenever possible. I look forward to using it this fall to make a cute fall scene.

I can’t wait to ink these babies up!!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #585

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends! It’s Wednesday and you know what time it is. Time to snoop. For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Wow, I know I say this often but it seems like yesterday was Wednesday. It went so fast, I did not get to visit many desks this past week. Thank you to all that left your comments. I’m running late on my post because today was one of our track days with the boys and I had to shower before I sit to snoop! Above is my desk on Sunday, after my all-day craft session on Zoom. We stayed on until 8:30 pm! It was great fun.

Princess Tiana wanted to be featured in my post so I told her I would take her picture to share. My sweet friend, Joan, bought her for me from Disney World. She watches over all of my creative happenings.

Above is a photo of the sentiments I stamped out for the cardbases I assembled. I cut up paper and just turned the paper to get the images on the bottom half of the sheet. The MISTI is all about mass production and this tool is great.

I just kept pulling out sentiments and stamped up sheets to be cut for use on the cards.

At the end of the session, I had cut and scored to make this stack of card bases and then glued the pattern paper on them. It’s so satisfying to see a stack of cards.

A peek in my garden this week. Phlox and ferns. I need more ferns, they make me happy. I love their delicate fronds and the way they move in the breeze. The Phlox just makes me happy. If you look closely you can see a variegated Phlox my neighbor gave me from her garden before she moved. I love seeing it come back each year. A plant is a very special gift to a give.

Yesterday I was sitting on my deck steps and Mr. Bee zoomed past me to do his business. So I decided to take his picture.

New editions to the annual garden were these tall asters. They needed staking but the color is so vibrant they almost look fake.

The picture above is a mixture of perennials and annuals. I usually overshop for plants in late spring and when I can’t find places for purchases, I tend to stick them in here. So it’s fun to see what evolves.

Above are some pots I placed infront of my husband’s home office. I planted them from seeds from my father-in-law. He doesn’t know the name but I saw the in his garden last year and had to have them. I know they are called Four o’clocks because of their flower and behavior. They tend to open in the late afternoon into the evening and then close when it gets warm the next day. At the end of the season, it is so easy to collect the seeds for more plants.

Above my husband caught me writing in my journal last Friday. The temperature was nice and I like to write outside whenever I can.

I included the picture above because on Monday, I was working and then sat back in my chair and the view of all the productivity on my desk brought me great joy. I love when that happens.

And finally I completed three card collections from some of the items you saw earlier. When I re-open I will continue to sell single cards and I will also be offering card collections that contain between 3 – 5 cards. I wanted to open first thing in September but I am still building inventory and will have to schedule times to photograph everything so I am going to push to try to launch the end of September. Fingers crossed!

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends! It’s Wednesday and you know what time it is. Time to snoop. Sorry I am late! But it was hot this morning and we took our boys to walk on the track. I recently decided that my boys were not getting enough movement in their daily lives since lockdown. I am very cautious on them going out, limiting them to mostly our yard, an occassional Target run and a weekly chai run to Starbucks. So I decided to take the 3 times a week to a local track to walk laps. Kids are definitely meant to be sedentary so I am hopeful this will help them. We are still experiencing a high heat and humidity and this morning they were slow getting up so it was a hard walk indeed.

Below you will find my lastest happy mail that arrived on Sunday and I immediately flagged the pages I want to color first. The dreamy water on the cover is so inviting. I miss the beach so much.

Below you can see the pages I flagged to color first. Aren’t they incredible! I don’t know how these artists come up with such cool ideas.

Some of the pages I want to color first.

Yesterday I went to Michaels to pick up the latest planner stuff. I am so thrilled that they are promoting black-owned businesses. This sticker pack and sticky notes are from IndynIvyInk.com. I love that there are black women on stickers. It’s lovely to see myself reflected in the products I use.

I thought I was going to only pick up the planner stuff but bam..A sale on patterned paper pads caught my eye. It was buy one and get two free. I walked past it trying to remind myself how much paper I have at home but then the pull dragged me back.

I selected these three pads. The first thing I did yesterday was to go through them and pull out pages I wanted to work with for some cardmaking.

Then I cut them down to 4 x 5 1/4″ and now they are ready for me to make some cards. I think I will make card sets with them. I will share photos once I begin working on them. The colors are so vibrant and the tiger patterned paper is so unexpected. I can’t wait to work with them this week.

Happy new! My oldest son, received some happy mail last week – his certificate and membership to the National Honor Society. He works so hard and I am so thrilled for him to reach such an acheivement.

My husband is going to make me fat! Here I am trying to exercise to lose my weight gain, and he has taken to baking while we are on lockdown. This time he made chocolate chip bundt cake. I can’t take it!!

Tall Zinnias.

A quick picture of me last week in my garden with my tall Zinnias which are finally blooming. They are so tall and the color is so vibrant. They are one of my favorite flowers so I am happy to see them blooming.

Many of you asked about the Totoe Bread from last week so I have included the recipe. I taste sugar more so I tend to reduce the sugars and it still tastes so yummy. Try it a couple times and I am sure you will find the balance that works for you. It is from a cookbook I bought in Jamaica many years ago. It is called, “Food of Jamaica“. Let me know if you try it.

Stay well ladies! I am going to make my rounds today since I was naughty last week and missed my snooping time!

Good morning!! Yesterday we had high winds and rain and then the humidity dropped and the wind continued into the night so winds open for a lovely sleep. I am typing fast because today my crafty girlfriends are having an extra Zoom session today in addition to our weekly Saturday sessions. I have some work to complete before then. I think we are going to begin after 1 which will work out perfectly if I can hunker down after writing this post. Of course, my desk photo above is the hot mess I left it in since yesterday.

I have decided to create a spreadsheet to help me manage and plan my inventory for the re-opening of my Etsy shop. I sometimes tend to make more cards in one category so this will help make sure I have them all filled. I am a mood reader with books as well as crafting so sometimes I go on a binge in one direction. So I am creating a spreadsheet on Excel and my husband is going to help me make into a lovely form that will really help me keep on track.

Above is some happy mail that arrived yesterday. I wanted some nice stickers to use in my personal journal and I ordered these lovelies off of Amazon. They are vellum stickers and they blend in so nicely inside my journal.

I didn’t stick these down yet but I wanted you to see how lovely they are and how they blend so nicely and they are thin so I don’t have to worry about them bulking up the pages or messing with my handwriting. They have beautiful plants, flowers and butterflies!

Speaking of butterflies. Below you can see one of the things I was playing around with last Saturday. I used my Distress oxides, a stencil and a bookmark to play around. They ended up pretty cute.

Yesterday I began replenishing my cardbases. I cut and scored cards in two different orientations. I need to make more today. I like to have them ready to go.

Below you can see the results of last weeks’ zoom session. I diecut the origami images I colored the week prior and die cut some more sentiments in gold paper. They are ready for assembly. I like having components ready to go so I can squeeze in some cardmaking in between other projects.

Another garden picture. Who did not prune her fruit trees? Yup.. me. They are the wild children in the background. They look like my hair in this humidity!!! I need a cool day and I will grab my husband and ladder and give them a trim. At the bottom of photo you can see some transplanted hydrangeas that are not blooming!! I am not sure if the transplant damaged them.

Last photo, from last night. It was wild winds yesterday and we opened all of the windows to let the cool air circulate. After dinner I had the urge to fill the house with heavenly scents so I made a Jamaican Toetoe Bread. It’s so simple and hit the spot!! I will eat a slice today with some tea for sure!

I hope you all are well. I will make my rounds tomorrow since I will be crafting with my friends later today.

Keep crafting!!
