Happy Monday: Beautiful Sunrises and Time Well Spent with Friends

Good morning and happy Monday! This time of year, I get a little cranky because we change our clocks and the days have earlier sunsets. It gets dark so early in the afternoon that I often feel rushed and begin to stress. One thing I notice is that I complain about the same thing every year and of course nothing changes, we change our clocks and so the process begins. But what I somehow forget is that the absolute best sunrises occur this time of year and I can capture them right from the windows in my home. I rise very early each morning for a mini workout before I bring the boys to school. I wake when it’s still dark outside and this morning was no different. I woke up, tidied up the light mess left behind from my kids and unloaded my dishwasher. Then as I walked out towards my living room, I could see this beautiful pink light streaming through the blinds.  So I rushed to the window and opened the blinds and snapped this photo.

My point is, that although I always hate that it is dark by 4:30 every day, I somehow managed to forget the magnificent sunrises. No two are the same and some are more spectacular than others. I always stand there for a bit watching it and being thankful for the blessing to be here to witness it. It’s my first real pause of the day and boy do I cherish it. So perhaps instead of my usual broken record complaining about the earlier darkness, I will remember natures beauty that I get to witness many mornings. This might be the shift I need to go through this season less cranky! This weekend I spent one day with my talented, crafty friends. It has been 4 weeks since our last gathering and longer for some of us. I packed light and only brought a couple coloring books and my colored pencils. I managed to finish a page I started a while back from Kerby Rosanes’ Fantomorphia coloring book. We ate and made each other laugh as usual and one of my dear friends brought me the cutest gift. This very cute bag that has pretty flowers all over it. It’s a great size to tote my coloring book and supplies. On Sunday we took our boys to the mall to do a little shopping. My oldest is getting his first pair of glasses so that was one of our objectives as well as finding a new winter coat for my youngest. My boys hate shopping but because there is rarely a standard size from store to store I bring them on occasion until I know their sizes in particular stores. We had a nice time despite some grumbling later in the day on how tired they were from walking. It’s so funny, I remember loving the opportunity to go to the mall with my mom. Maybe it’s a boy thing. Once home we settled in for some dinner and football.

Well, I’m off but I hope you all have a blessed Monday and please take time to vote tomorrow!

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday – #491

Good morning my crafty WOYWW friends! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

It’s Halloween here and I didn’t let it slip by without a little decorating in my craft room. I put up my little signs and cut out bats on my Silhouette to hang in my book nook.

That’s as scary as I get. I don’t care much for the creepy stuff but I didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to spice up my craft room a bit.

Now on to my desk. I was working on a little coloring yesterday while my boys worked on their homework. This coloring book is the beautiful ‘Ivy and the Inky Butterfly by Johanna Basford. I love how this is both a storybook and coloring book.

You can see my color combinations I wrote them out as I used them. I discovered a few that will definitely be added to my favorites list. You can also see some of my Nuvo drops. I went crazy and snagged a bunch a few months ago and although they are similar to Ranger’s Distress Stickles, oh they are so much more. So I am having a blast playing with them. You can also see my Prisma color swatches that I always have on hand when I color.

I am still working on my commissioned project and yesterday I made some good progress. I will continue once I finish this post so once again I will take a few days to get around to desk visits.

I hope you all have a wonderful day and Happy Halloween!

Happy Monday!

Wowza! I’m exhausted from watching the World Series game last night and it is pouring rain outside right now. You can barely see anything but the rain at times.  But despite my exhaustion and the crappy weather, I am really happy to have a new week of crafting ahead of me. I completed all of my errands this morning so that I could focus on work for the rest of the day until pick-up. The only thing is that I will have to fight the pull of my cozy blanket my mom gave me and the fantastic books I have to read. This would have been a great day to take off from work and curl up with all that goodness. Oh, I almost forgot, the picture above is of a banana nut bread I made with almond flour last week. It’s all gone and I am thinking I might have to make another real soon!!

I had a fun time at my in-laws yesterday and even had time to continue coloring one of the coloring pages I have been meaning to complete. Halloween is fast approaching and due to our delay in costume hunting (I usually buy their costumes in September), Apollo had to settle with the slim pickings at Party City.  Before I began to guilt myself, I reminded myself that my mom made many of our costumes and we didn’t have the luxury of buying a costume every year. So once in perspective, I was able to relax.

I’ve been using my diffusor in my craft room for a few weeks and today I chose Eucalyptus. It’s supposed to help with concentration. Well, I can’t wait to hear my boys reaction when they come home, they are going to think someone is sick. They associate the scent with Vicks vapor rub!! Haha!!

Have a fantastic day!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #490

Good morning my crafty WOYWW friends! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Hello! I am not scheduled to post today since I have been trying to post at least every other week but I looked at my hot mess express desk today and said to myself, “Why not?”.

So let’s dig into this clutter. On the left you see my pitcher filled or should I say stuffed with Stampin up markers and some paint brushes. My goal is to move the markers and only have brushes in there since I have been using them a lot more to paint.  Below that, you see my latest purchase – floral wire and tape for an upcoming craft project. Right beside that are some flowers I colored up and need to be placed on a card.  You can also see a completed card peeking out from under the paper cut files from my Silhouette. I am working on a Japanese maple so I need to color them up before assembling them into a home decor item. You can also see some printouts on Copic x-press paper to be colored for a custom order I am working on. I grabbed my container with some of my 6×6 Christmas paper for color combination inspirations. I didn’t clean up my paint from two weeks ago (yes, I said 2) so you can see that and the dirty paint brushes. You can also see a really cool book pin my husband bought me. I am a bit of book nerd and love all things book related.

As I mentioned, I am working on a custom order so I will take a few days to get around to visit your desks.

Have a blessed day and keep crafting!
