Make a Card Monday #1:Happy Birthday Wish with Tiddly Inks digi

Nov10_2014birthdaywish1

Hello and happy Monday! It’s cold outside here but the sun is shining bright so all is well.  I had a fun weekend. On Saturday, I spent the whole day, crafting with my girlfriends up in Groveland.  I loaded up a bunch of images to color for cards, cutfiles from my Silhouette to assemble and my Project Life album (you know I’m trying to catch up!). I brought my Beats Pill and we listened to Christmas music all day. Yes, you heard me correctly, Christmas music in November. I say this with my head held high!  I love this time of year and I enjoy the music and let’s face it, 25 days of Christmas music is hardly enough. We had great fun and I actually accomplished a lot.

Enough about my weekend, I just wanted to share with you a new card I made. It’s a birthday card. I created it with this cute Tiddly Inks digi. I of course colored her with my Copics and used Wink of Stella on her wings for that magical sparkle.  And I added sequins for even more sparkle.  Let’s face it, a girl has to have sparkle.

It coordinated nicely with some envelopes I bought from Paper Source so less work for me and more time to play.

Well I hope you had a great weekend and I look forward to a fun week.

Have a blessed day friends!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

daddyHappy Birthday Daddy! I still call him daddy since he passed away when I was 8 years old and I wasn’t calling him Dad yet.  So I guess I’m really a Daddy’s girl!  I have this picture of him, while he was in Germany, framed in my office. Pardon the blurriness. I just took a picture of the picture rather than scan it.  My mum kept him alive in my memory by sharing stories.  I try to share them with my boys from time to time so that they too might know a little about my amazing dad, who was taken too soon.

I hope he too, is watching over me and smiles when he sees the not one but two boys I have. My dad wanted some boys and he ended up with one boy and 5 girls, now how is that for luck?  But he never made us feel like that, he loved kids period and he would have had more if my mum didn’t put her foot down. I can’t imagine 6 kids in this day.  My two are plenty.

Happy Birthday Daddy, I love you!

Happy Mail!!! Cards from Sandy Allnock

sandy1

Who doesn’t like happy mail? I mean really?  I love when book or craft orders arrive on my doorstep.  There’s just something special about it.

Well, recently I sent a donation to Sandy Allnock for her sister who was running for political office. Sandy is one of my Copic Diva’s that I follow regularly.  Sandy said that for each donation she would color up an image and mail it to you. So I was more than happy to make a donation and thrilled to be able to receive one of her works of art.

This week, I received not one but two cards in the mail which was even more special.   I even kept the envelopes of proof that she sent me mail (such a fan.). Here are the two cards she sent me.  I actually have one of the images and now feel inspired to use it.  The pictures simply don’t do them justice.

sandy2OMG they are so beautiful. I am so inspired by her art. So I placed them on my shelf in my craft room so I can be inspired daily.  If you haven’t ever seen her work you must, and I stress the must check out Sandy’s website.  She also runs an amazing donation program for our US troops.  So take some time and explore her site.

I have them displayed in my craft room for inspiration. Sandy’s ability to not only color beautifully and create amazing backgrounds are what I continue to aspire to so having her work in my craft room really makes me happy.

Have a blessed day friends!

Belinda’s Book Nook: Tea and Literature

teaandlit1

I don’t know how far back my love affair with tea began but I do know it has been a long time. I remember when I was first exposed to loose tea. I had always had them pre-bagged and packaged that I bought at the supermarket. So the loose tea provided a new and exciting world to me.  I love going into tea shops and trying new loose teas. Seeing all the canisters makes me happy.  I also love beautiful teacups and of course all the yummies that accompany tea.

Living in the Northeast, I think the comfort of warm tea on a dreary or cold winter day came naturally.  There is something so comforting about holding a beautiful cup in your hands while watching the steam rise and the warmth radiating all the way down to my fingertips that has had me hooked.  And I haven’t even gotten to the taste.  The variety in tastes are amazing.  I used to only drink herbal tea but years back fell pretty hard for Green tea. I also love Jasmine tea and Oolong. For the last 8 years, I have been in love with Starbucks Chai tea. I can’t get enough of it.  Then Miss Oprah came up with her new Chai tea with Teavana/Starbucks and I am falling in love again. Her’s has a more cinnamon flavor and let’s face it, this time of year, cinnamon is prevalent in everything from tea to baking and even candles.

I recently went to Teavana and bought some of Oprah’s Chai tea and a cute canister to hold it. It’s my favorite color green and my friend Joan would tell you, “If it has a butterfly on it, Belinda will buy it.” and so I did.

I just received this book in the mail from Amazon, “Snow Like Ashes” by Sara Raasch.

“Game of Thrones meets Graceling in this striking fantasy tale of dark magic, dangerous politics, and discovering your true self.  Sara Raasch’s debut fantasy is a lightning-fast story of loyalty, love, and controlling one’s destiny.”

This just might be my next read. I have ordered up a winter supply of books to keep me happy this winter so I will be sharing them with you as I read them.

I have some reviews of books I recently completed  that I will be posting soon. So stick around my friend.

What are you reading?
