What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #582

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends! It’s Wednesday and you know what time it is. Time to snoop. For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Well, the heat has been brutal for the last few days. We had a nice day last week but it’s been really hot and humid since. This morning it starting off nice but I think the heat will build so I will soon be under AC. My desk has the remains of my Saturday Zoom craft session. I did a lot of distress oxide coloring and a whole bunch of die-cutting.

First I swatched all of the Distress Oxide colors I own. I own a gazillion of the Distress inks but I haven’t jumped in fully yet to the oxides. But I have to say I really had fun playing with them on Saturday.

Then I cut up some panels out of watercolor paper and began mixing colors.

Next, I grabbed a bunch of word dies, bookmarker and abstract background die. I decided rather than work on a project to completion I wanted to work on some mass production for a bunch of cards.

I die-cut a bunch of words in gold and rose gold paper. I also cut up a few abstract backgrounds in white cardstock as well as some bookmarks.

Once the panels dried I spent a great deal of time stamping and embossing these cool origami stamps in gold. I have dies for each so I plan to use one per card with one word. This will make enough for a lot of cards.

A peek into my flower garden shows my phlox and echinacea that have just to starting to bloom.

Look at these plump zuchinni! I ended up using the cucumer and tomatoes in a salad.

Remember I said there was a nice day last week. Well my husband and I took advantage and went to a nearby lake to people watch and read. I hope we have another day that nice so we can do it again. Next time I will have my beach chairs that I now packed in my car. On this day all we had was tarp to sit on!!

Lastly, I thought I would share a picture of the donuts my husband and son made last week. They were quite yummy.

I hope you all are well and I will make my rounds today and tomorrow!

Stay well, my friends!

Belinda

  1. That’s a really great photo of you by the lake – I like to just sit and watch the world go by as well! Your garden produce is amazing and I have phlox and echinacea in my garden too, though they’re not really in bloom yet. I think those origami stamps are amazing and useful for so many types of cards, the bright colourful backgrounds are fun too!
Hope you’re nice and cool in the AC now!

  2. Hi Dorlene,Love all the backgrounds you created, fabulous. I too have all the Distress Inks, but only a few Oxides. As they show up on Black, I mainly went for the colours that would show that off best. Lovely pic of you by the lake. Amazing selection of veg/salad from your garden, and love the flowers. Stay safe, have a lovely week, hugs, Shaz #7 X

  4. Sorry, Belinda! Brain here has turned to mush. XxX

  5. I still use my distress inks but I have to say the Oxides are even better as they blend so nicely. I’m with you on the crafting, I like to play with the inks, stencils and stamps rather than make a card from beginning to end and I often come up with different ideas while I’m doing it. Have a lovely crafty woyww, Angela x14x

  6. Love the backgrounds youmade and decorated. the food you’ve grown (and the doughnuts) look great. Lovely to be able to sit outside and read and people watch. Helen #4

  7. Your husband and son sound very handy to have around the kitchen Belinda. Glad you have been able to get out a little. I love my Oxides and must confess to having the full set, but then I am a bit of a Distress junkie having all the inks, Oxides, both sets of sprays, crayons, paints and markers. They are discontinuing the markers so I won’t be able to get any of the new colours in those, but I have started to collect the glazes too now. Those backgrounds you made and embossed will make brilliant cards with a matching gold sentiment. Stay safe and happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #10

I Love my Oxides – you have made great headway with yours. The backgrounds are lovely . If it has been so hot, it must be lovely to go sit by the lake. Not so hot here today but hopefully getting warmer. Those doughnuts look yummy – how lovely that you didnt have to make them. Have a lovely week. Soojay #18

  9. Hi Belinda. Sorry I am a day late got a bit tied up with paint and phonecalls yesterday!! The backgrounds look really good – I admit to only having one distress oxide – but I do enjoy using it! Great shot of you by the lake – and I reckon your garden is doing you proud – that veg is fantastic. Well done. Congrats to hubby and son, too. The doughnuts look really scrummy!!
    Take care. God bless.
