30 Day Coloring Challenge #4 – Day 2 – A card

logoHello Everyone! It’s Tuesday and day 2 of the coloring challenge. After yesterday’s craziness, I decided the first thing I would do this morning was to get my color on!! Yesterday my tools of choice were color pencils and today, I have gone back to my love – Copics!

day2aI had printed up this Saturated Canary digi a long time ago and only colored one so this one was begging my attention.

day2bI usually color skin and hair but first but for some reason I jumped from skin to clothes before coloring in her hair. I have been playing around with colors lately for my brown skinned beauties and decided not to go with the black or dark brown that is predominantly used and went straight to a camel color brown for fun. Since we all know I love books, I thought I would find a book sentiment to create a card with this image. I found the one I used on Pinterest.

day2cI used my Silhouette to design a fun sentiment to add to the card once I finished coloring. I matched the color of the font to her dress and because the sentiment used the word ‘dream’ I decided a cloud shape would be the perfect shape for a print and cut on the Silhouette. I also wanted to shake it up a bit and oriented the cloud 90 degrees counter clockwise.

day2dI couldn’t find my matching distress ink pad to edge the clouds so I used my Copics to create the effect.

day2fI used this lovely paper from Crate paper and enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye to create the dream bubbles.

day2eI’m pleased with the final card but I need your help. What color should I make her earrings? Gold or Silver and in the little box on the cover I want to right the word ‘Read’. What do you think?

With Lin’s encouragement I would like to enter this card for the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge

Happy coloring and I will see you tomorrow!

30-Day Coloring Challenge Part 2: Day 6 & 7

challenge_graphic-June-650Hello Everyone! So here I am on day 8 while others are doing day 10. I decided on Friday that I would change the rules a bit to accomodate my crazy June schedule. I will not be posting my coloring challenge posts on the weekends. I will only do it on the week days. Since weekends are for my family, this will work out better. I refuse to feel bad for changing the rules a bit. So my end date will be beyond June 30th.

I did color Monday but it was for my ATC swap and I can’t reveal all here so you will have to trust me.

day6

Yesterday I did color up these cute elephants. I plan to use them on a magnetic bookmarkers.  I used my Copics to color them.  It’s good practice for me working with grays to create shading.

day7

I will be back later with something I color today and that will be day 8.

Happy coloring!

30-Day Coloring Challenge Part 2: Day 5

challenge_graphic-June-650Hello Everyone! Day 5 here and I am going strong.  This is no easy thing this time of year but I am giving it my all.  Today, I was once again inspired by Kathy and pulled out my newest coloring book I had bought a few weeks back from Barnes and Noble on the bargain table.  It has all sorts of Mandalas to color and I have been fascinated with them for years and thought I would give it a go. The paper quality isn’t the best for my copics so I used my Ranger distress and StampinUp markers.

day5aThey do seem a bit daunting at first but once you start coloring it’s not so bad. It’s just picking the initial colors that took a few minutes. Of course it helped that I have a limited number of distress and stampinUp markers. Nothing like my Copic collection that I love so much.

day5bI chose this one to color first because it had butterflies in it.

day5cI don’t think you have to finish these in one sitting and although I would like to, I have other work and I had to post this so I stopped here. I will be sure to share the final piece.

Happy coloring and have a blessed weekend!!

30-Day Coloring Challenge Part 2: Day 4

challenge_graphic-June-650Hello Everyone! Day 4 is here and it was really tough to squeeze in time today. I was inspired by Kathy at The Daily Marker’s post today and wanted to whip out my embossing powder and water color paints.

day4aI used the WPlus9 Flora & Fauna stamps and heat embossed a hummingbird and butterfly (two of my favorites) on some watercolor paper.

day4bI used my Koi Water colors from Sakura and created a sky background. The funny thing is that I get nervous with water-coloring. Since I don’t have much experience with it. But it is actually very forgiving if you have a paper towel handy.

day4cThen I mixed some colors to paint the flowers and attempted to create some depth with shading. I have not glued those sequins down yet. I’m on the fence whether to use them or not. I like using my watercolor brush so I don’t have to have a cup of water but I think I will try it with my brushes to see what different affect it will create.

Well I am in between making dinner and going to an open-house at a local school so I must go now.

See you tomorrow!

Belinda
