Project Life: Major Catchin’ Up Time!!

majorcatchupWhat???Behind!!!!!….yup I’m behind on my Project Life. What happened you say?  Life.

I am taking the glass half full approach and going to praise myself for the work that I have done, rather than the months I have not.  This year I took a different approach and think it for the most part has been very helpful.

My dear friend, Ashley and I have a virtual scrap every Saturday morning that we call our Craft Hour from 9:30-11.  We both grab our tea (think she has coffee) and check in at 9:30 and send a picture of our desk and which week we plan to work on.  Ideally it would be the past week but we didn’t start doing this until we were both behind.  Then at the end of the time we send a picture of our completed work. It has been so much fun. She lives far away so we cherish the time even if we aren’t sitting next to each other.

But life has managed to get in the way and I fell behind big time. So I decided to order a big batch of photos (May, June,July) and plow through it. They just came today so I am going through and sticking them into their appropriate week and then I will go back and embellish and add the journaling. The goal is to complete this by the end of this month. It’s still a rather lofty goal but I got to aim high.

When I finish with the album, I will make some videos to share the work in it’s entirety.

Are any of you working on Project Life and if so, are you being like me?

Well I am off but I hope you have a blessed day!

Silhouette Sunday #13: bookmarks

bookmark1

Hello Everyone! I have been missing my Silhouette. This summer has pulled me in so many directions that I haven’t had much time to play like I like to with my Silhouette. But I did make a quick bookmark with it.

I was inspired by the store bought bookmark that I recently bought Apollo at the bookstore.  So I used this great calligraphy phrase by Tanya Batrak on the Silhouette store ( Design ID: #61896 ).

bookmark3

I created two with ribbons on the top.

bookmark2

The other two I used twine, beads from my old jewelry making days and metal charms.

Apollo has already asked to have one so move over store bought bookmarks.

Well I am off to go put one of these to use in my recent book.

Have a blessed day!

Silhouette Sunday #12: The Beauty of Vellum

vellum1Hello! I have not posted any new Silhouette Sundays in longer than I would like to admit.

vellum2

Yesterday I was working on my Project Life album and decided I liked the idea of including some Vellum on some layouts. I tend to buy kits and supplies when Silhouette has one of it’s many sales so you wouldn’t be surprised to hear that I purchased a package of vellum but never used it. So I dove right in and selected shapes from my library that I thought would cut nicely and can be used on my album or some cards. I made sure to fill the page up so I could use up the whole sheet. I could probably added more but it was my first cut so I didn’t take my chances. But next time I will put them closer together and put more in there. I took basic shapes and duplicated and re-sized them for variety.

I wanted a shape to go with my photo of a book haul and I loved this one I had of a girl sitting on a stack of books. The funny thing is that I literally have to move books off of my chair in my book nook when I read or else I would be sitting on them. So I thought this image would be perfect. Look at the detail. I can’t believe it cut it so nicely with all that detail. You can actually see the books.

vellum4

This is how it looks in my Project Life album. I put it over the photo of my book haul. It is so pretty.

vellum5

I used the heart on a 3×4 card in the album as an accent. I love how you can see it but also thru it so the lovely colors aren’t blocked out. I like how it softens the look. I put a sequin on top to hide a clue dot.  I will definitely be using it more. I can’t wait to try in on my cards for my shop.

If you haven’t used vellum with your Silhouette, I hope you give it a try too.

Here are additional resources and links to the use of vellum with the Silhouette:

Have a blessed day!

My June 2014 kit from Cocoa Daisy.

june2014a

Hi Everyone!

I have been actually using my Cocoa daisy kits in my PL album. Even the stickers they use to seal the packaging is encouraging it says, “Go Be Creative”. I will be filming  a series soon to include on this blog of my PL for 2014 and my progress. I am playing catch up but making great progress and when I feel ready, I am going to record videos. june2014b

I love the orange color they included in this kit. I also like the mix of whimsy and more linear designs on the 3×4 and 4×6 cards.

june2014cThe aqua and navy are so pretty when you see them in person.  I also love these stickers with phrases. Perfect to put on top of a 4×6 photo or card.

june2014dYou all know I am just a softie when it comes to butterflies and this card was no exception. I like the 3×4 banner card. I can lay it over a photo. I am going to try to make my own with my Silhouette. I like the artsy feel with the splashes of color.

june2014eMore cards that inspire me to go design with my Silhouette. I love the paint splattered chipboard Hello and the golden hearts.

june2014gI like these weekday stickers. I wouldn’t have bought them myself but will definitely use them now that I have them.

june2014fThe funny thing is I bought a package of these sequins a while back and have already started using them  but I kept saying I wish I had bought two packs. Now I have them. I can’t help but smile when I look at them.  I love the colors and the different shapes.

june2014h

They always include stamps designed by a guest designer. I like the little turtle. Very cute.

Tomorrow I am heading to Martha’s Vineyard, a small island off the coast of Cape Cod in Massachusetts for four days vacation with Leao (delayed anniversary celebration). So I won’t be posting again until next week.

I hope you have a blessed day!

Belinda
