What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #556

on my desk…

Hello my crafty friends! It has been quite a long time since I have posted. The holidays swept me up and life took over after that but here I am ready to snoop and catch up with all of you.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

My new Faber Castle Polychromos.

Today I am sharing some coloring I started this past weekend at my monthly ladies craft day. It is from an amazing Greek coloring book I purchased over a year ago. The cool thing about it is that they have suggested colors on the left side page for each image. So if you struggle with color combinations, it relieves some of the anxiety. I am using my new Faber Castle Polychromos I got for Christmas. I also got a new case to put them in that rocks my world. Who knew cacti could be so pretty!

Greek coloring book.

I am trying to learn the differences in using the polychromos and my Prismacolor pencils. I have used the Prismascolors for several years now so it will fun to learn a new pencil. Once again, I have made a new year’s resolution to color in all of my coloring books. Last year, I colored a lot but certainly not all and let’s not talk about the new coloring books I purchased towards the end of last year! (like I need any more but what’s a crafter to do?)

I never got a chance to share a photo with you all of the ’12 days of Christmas table decor” that I was making. So here they are as I displayed them at our monthly crop in December.

12 Days of Christmas

I boxed them up for next year. They were a lot of fun to make. I ended up bringing them to my in-laws over the holiday as well.

Well I am off so I can get to work. I will pop around to see what you all are doing over the course of the next few days.

Have a blessed day!

on my desk…

Hello my crafty friends. Last night we had a little snow and now this morning I woke to no internet access. So I packed up and headed to my closest Starbucks. I arrived to find that they don’t have access here either so I will wait and once it’s up I will push this post live. The funny thing is that this is nothing compared to the storm we had last week and we had power and internet access just fine.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Today, my desk is a busy flurry of stuff. I am frantically trying to complete the ’12 Days of Christmas’ tablescape for our upcoming ladies craft day on Saturday. We are having a themed meal around the 12 Days of Christmas and exchanging gifts. Oh yeah, and maybe some crafting will actually happen!! So on my desk you can see the first two numbers that I have assembled. I will embellish them more once I complete assembling them. I am not a big fan of glue sticks but the creator of these files recommends using it so that I can easily move the pieces around when adhering them. I am using the glue stick to attach them to the inner components that enable them to be hung as ornaments. I don’t intend on using them as ornaments only as table décor. I will be sure to share photos next week of the completed set.

Cut components.

This is what they look like once I cut out all of the components on my Silhouette. I figured out a genius way to  cut them out without wasting a lot of paper. It took some focus but I was able to do it.

Putting together number two.

This is what two turtle doves look like before I fully assembled it. It was really great to use up some of my mounds of paper. I have so much paper in my craft room, I could open a craft store.

These are the components to allow me to hang them.

Above you can see the components that must be assembled and glued to the inside of the elements to give them dimension and to enable them to be hung. I am using the hot glue on this part.

They are really fun to assemble, and I can’t wait to see them all finished. If I can save them and transport them back home after the party I will use them next year at my home.

It is crazy that Christmas is two weeks away. I haven’t finished my shopping. I haven’t sent out all of my Christmas cards. I am a mess. I am not going to let it swallow me up though. I suspect I am not alone in this holiday panic and I want to enjoy the season. So somehow, I will have to relax and let it be.

Well I am going to head out to pick up my boys. Today they have an early release and I promised them lunch at Panera!

I’ll be around to snoop tomorrow!

Happy crafting!

on my desk…

Hey friends! I missed you last week. It was our Thanksgiving holiday and I didn’t have enough time to squeeze in a post and I knew I would be away and not able to snoop at your lovely desks. But I am back. I am confessing that it is actually Tuesday afternoon when I am writing this because I have a morning appointment and won’t have time when I get home to write one. Didn’t want to miss another week so here I am.

Bits and pieces waiting to be assembled into cards.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Letting the Nuvo drops dry.

Today we had our first snow day! The snow began last night and went right through today. My boys were so thrilled and me too because that meant I didn’t have to get up early and lug through the snow. It also meant a full day of crafting. So this is where I have been pretty much all day. The first big snow is always exciting and it’s so pretty before we all go out and soil it with our cars. The lighting the snow reflects in my craft room is divine. It’s a white glow.

Excess cardstock from card bases.

I decided to keep the exess cardstock from making card bases to use when I make bookmarks. they are the perfect size and I feel better about not waisting the paper.

Some of the cards after the Nuvo dried.

For the diecuts that ripped when I was weeding them off my Silhouette mat, I ended up just using the word Joy on the front of the card. At first I didnt’ like it but a bit of Nuvo drops later, I was sold!

Joyful stickers from my Silhouette to create a sentiment.

I really love the dear silhouette on the pink trees. I wish the designer. The crazy in me would have prefered if the designer made the file a complete circle. So I had to find a sentiment that would fit and visually close the cirlce. I took this joyful file and made it into a sticker and added it to the cardfront.

Frisky holiday cards!

These cards make me laugh. They are so frisky! I stuck to the joy theme to use up my diecuts and added Nuvo drops. All finished.

First snow day of the season!

It’s so pretty when it’s untouched. Had a very productive day today and feeling good about my progress.

Can you see the icesicles on my garage? The look so cool.

As of December 1st, Jingle has made his presence again. He will be hopping around the house more for my amusement nowadays!!

Here’s Jingle watching from above!

Ok when I get back from my appointment, the snooping will begin!!

on my desk…

Hello crafty ladies! I’m so late and for a very good reason. My glasses broke and the lense popped out. I glued it with trusty craft glue… who says my craft supplies are useful? So I had to rush down the highway to pick out some new frames. And of course it happens on an early release day! I took forever because I have had these frames for about 2-3 years and really love how unique they are but time was not on my side so I picked the best option with the time constraints. Hopefully they will arrive before our Thanksgiving break. Or I will have to arrive with my glued masterpiece!

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Anyhow enough about why I’m late. Let’s look at my desk and the happenings in my craft room. I scored on some lovely craft paper packs at Michaels for a riduculously low price so I thought I would make some holiday cards with the paper.

Left side of my desk.

On the left is my work bullet journal. In the middle is the beginnings of the cards I am making. More photos to come.

Right side of my desk.

On the right is some lovely diecut trees I cut on my Silhouette and will be using them on a card. Also my cards from last week. I still haven’t tested the black watercolor paper. The book is a pre-order that arrived a few days ago. It’s a fantasy novel. The cover is absolutely gorgeous.

I have a really understanding family because I tend to spread out my stuff all over my desk and the floors when I get inspired. (There is truly enough space for us crafters right?) And these paper pads were just what I needed last night to get my craft mojo going. So I selected a few pages from each pad that really jumped out at me and then searched my stash for coordinating cardstock.

Spread out all over the floor.

Then I raided my Silhouette cut files for just the right sentiment. This ‘Joy to the World’ was really pretty. I like that this paper pack is non-traditional colors. I cut some A6 cards go with the envelopes I already own.

Prepping for my assembly process.

I cut out the card front from the pretty papers in preparation for my assembly line.

Finished card.

The color isn’t truly captured by my camera. But it’s very pretty in person and the gold stripes in the plaid are so lovely.

I’m finally on my way to getting my holiday cards made. I will share more as I complete them. I have to catch up with work but will spend the next few days snooping around your desks.f

Happy crafting!
