12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts: Day 11 – Deer Holiday card

day11_dear_card1Good afternoon and welcome to day eleven of my 12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts! Wow, we are almost finished with this series.  It has been a fun challenge for me and I hope you’ve enjoyed it too.

Today’s project is a card created with Silhouette files. I saw this card on the Silhouette blog and I had to make it. It’s really simple and elegant without a lot of fuss. One confession I have to make is that I just realized I forgot to attach the little red bow that goes around the deer’s neck before I took and processed these photos. (Sorry).

day11_dear_card2I love the simple color palette. I like nature cards and this one is really even prettier in person.  I attached this files to a 4.25 inch  square card base.

day11_dear_card3The other great thing is that I definitely see me using all the components of this file in separate projects in the near future. That’s one thing I look for when purchasing Silhouette files is the diverse amount of ways to use them.

I photographed this card on the carpet in my craft room with the closet door behind.  Nothing fancy today. Just wanted to focus on the card.

This weekend we picked up our Christmas tree. We often go and cut our own tree but feeling so rushed, we decided to buy local. I will share some photos soon of Apollo and I decorating it.

I hope you had a great weekend and have a blessed day!

12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts: Day 10 – Not Even a Mouse card

day10_not_even_a_mouse1Good afternoon and welcome to day ten of my 12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts! Yeah, it’s Friday! Happy day! Today we are going to go buy our Christmas Tree when Leao gets home from work.

day10_not_even_a_mouse2Today’s card features the cutest digi from Mo’s Digital Pencil. It is called, ‘Not Even a Mouse’.  I print and cut it using my Silhouette. I chose this pattern paper from Authentique again. The soft muted colors reminded me of a sweater. The little mouse looks so cozy . I used a Kraft paper as the card base with a top fold.

day10_not_even_a_mouse3I pulled the colors from the paper for my inspiration for coloring with my Copics.  I love tea and tea cups so this image just had to be mine.  I also used some collage paper on this card that I have had for years. It’s a pad of 20 sheets with handmade papers in various colors and patterns. I found one that matched the color in the pattern paper and used it to mat the image. I added pop dots for dimension and bling on the bottom for balance.

day10_not_even_a_mouse4Inside I put a strip of the patterned paper for continuity. No greeting or sentiment on the inside. Just letting the image speak for itself. I used my foot stool in my craft room for my prop.

I hope you have a blessed weekend! I will be back on Monday with Day 11.

12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts: Day 9 – Poinsettia Wreath

day9_poinsetta_wreath1Good evening and welcome to day nine of my 12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts! Well the internet problems from earlier this week have been resolved but today, I couldn’t post from my machine. Hence the late post. I apologize.

day9_poinsetta_wreath2Today is a holiday craft I made using my Silhouette.  If you know anything about me is I love me some flowers.  I was thrilled to see all the different paper flower files that are on the Silhouette store. I found these poinsettia flower files and just had to have them. In the first photo I showed you the flowers looked like before I assembled them. The funny thing is that I have a really nice flower curling set I bought over a year ago and of course today when I am actually making flowers, I can’t find the tools. So I used a pencil and a paint brush and improvised. It was actually relaxing shaping and curling the petals.

day9_poinsetta_wreath4I cut out six flowers but I liked the look of 5 on this wreath I picked up at Michael’s for $2.50 on sale. The stamen came with the cut file and I used yellow paper and then put some Wink of Stella on them for added sparkle.

day9_poinsetta_wreath3I adhered them to the wreath with glue dots instead of my hot gun so that if I want to change them, it will be easy.

I like how it looks in my craft room.

I hope you all had a blessed day and I will be back with day ten tomorrow.

12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts: Day 8 – Joy card

day8_Joy1Good morning and welcome to day eight of my 12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts! Today I am bringing you another holiday card.  This image is a digi from Mo’s Digital Pencil.  I believe the name of it is Henry with Wreath. I just love this one. I am always on the hunt for more images of boys since I have an enormous collection of images of girls.  So it is truly a treat to color up boy images.  I used my Copics to color this image and Kraft paper as the base for the card.

day8_Joy2The pattern paper I used on this card is an old one I have from Authentique called ‘Tradition’. I love the muted colors in this paper pack. They lend themselves nicely to masculine cards.  I pulled the color palette from the patterned paper when choosing my Copics.

day8_Joy3I apologize for the poor lighting today. It’s so dark outside this morning and I didn’t set up any additional lighting.  I zoomed in to show you the Wink of Stella I used on the berries and pom pom but I think it’s not coming through well. You’ll have to trust me this time! I once again used the greetings sticker sheet from Little Yellow Bicycle for the ‘Joy’ sentiment. It matched perfectly.

day8_Joy4The inside of the card I rounded the corners on the journaling sheet and added a strip of coordinating paper to the top.  I like switching things up with top-folding cards. I left it blank inside for personal greetings.

Today’s prop is a little winter house that I put on my television stand in our living room.

Have a blessed day friends!

Belinda
