What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #175

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all well. I am feeling super happy because on Saturday morning my girlfriends are picking me up and we are going to an all day crop.  Love it!! A day filled with great conversations, loads of laughs and tons of great products at our fingertips (it will be held at a store).  So nothing pretty much should ruin this week while I daydream of the fun.  When you have two little ones around, crops are like little pieces of heaven.

Ok, no desk photo today but I want to share what I have been working on – a card for a card contest. I wouldn’t normally enter, I am more of a watcher. I always read the contests and that voice of mine talks me out of it but my dear friend Ashley pushed me to do it and it was just what I needed to squelch that procrastinator bug I get when I am scared of doing something.

My first card for a card contest.

If you click here you can see more about this card.  That is all I have to share today. Which is probably rather refreshing since I tend to ramble these days.

If you haven’t learned about this amazing creative journey you can take every Wednesday, then head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Have a blessed day!

MFT Guest Designer Contest – October 2012

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a Happy World Card Making day. I spent mine working on my very first contest entry.

The card I am sharing with you today is for the Guest Designer contest at My Favorite Things (MFT) using the MFTGUESTDT1012 sketch.

About a year ago I discovered the Pure Innnocence collection of My Favorite Things stamps at my LSS.  The quality of the impression was important for my coloring and the price was great. I purchased my first stamp and used my Copics to color the girl with brown skin. I loved the result and how easy I could paper pierce or color them.  My crafting girlfriends liked the way I changed her ethnicity with color.  I was hooked from that day forward.

This is my entry for the MFT Guest Designer Contest.

Isn’t she so cute set among the leaves?

I love using this Die-Namic because it is the perfect size for all of my cards and the edges are so elegant.  I paper pierced the little girl’s shirt and colored her and her pants with my Copics.  I used dimensional adhesive to raise the wagon for a 3D effect.  The Jillibean Soup label was just begging to be used with this stamp  so I kindly obliged. Twine was my go to instead of ribbon to compliment the theme. I just had to use the blossom gem since it echoed the blossoms in her shirt and who could resist a little bling?

I put the pop dots to make the wagon 3D

If have not visited MFT before, you should take a look because they sell a variety of fun products for all your crafting needs at great values.

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #174

Hello everyone!! It’s that time again.  Snooping all over the globe!

Well my first photo is of a thank you card I literally created this morning after feeding the boys breakfast.  My son Nicholas celebrated his ninth birthday this past weekend. But when he came out of school on Monday, he was so happy and was wearing a t-shirt over his clothes with all his classmate’s birthday wishes written all over it. She took it upon herself to celebrate is birthday with his classmates and provided the t-shirt and had the kids sign it. I thought that was really sweet and wanted to make her a card.

A thank you card I made for my son’s teacher.

The funny thing is that I had limited time (10 minutes before drop off) and I pulled this design out of my head.  But when I am working on cards for my shop, oh I can’t  decide very fast. Some days it’s like watching paint dry. ha ha.

Some more Halloween cards I am working on for my shop.

So far it has been a productive week for me. I just wrapped up these Halloween cards for my shop.  You can see a new My Minds Eye  paper pad I just receivedin the mail and some pretty paper cut with a Dynamics die.  I paper pierced my little girl and colored her with my Copics.

Here are my final cards.

Well I could on but I feel a snooping urge coming on so I am going to get started. Thanks for stopping by my desk. I really enjoy the comments you all leave.

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #173

Self portrait

Hello Everyone!I thought I would start with another picture of me since I know you all like to see what’s behind the curtain!! The quality suffers when you reverse the camera on the iphone. Yeah, that’s why I don’t look drop dead gorgeous!! ha ha.  My sweet husband has already gone to work so it’s me, my arm and one messy desk.

Yup, it’s messy desk day. No surface can be found equals I have been a very busy girl!

Messy, messy desk

Let’s start at the left side of my desk.  I just bought some Martha Stewart cotton hemp yarn in the sales bin (score).  Up in the corner you can see my storage I made for my Spellbinders a while back. I love it on my desk in my little Nantucket basket. It think I actually use them more.  Some new stamps I found at Michaels. A Halloween card I made is tucked under the stamps.  I just got my first Anya stamps. They are so stinkin’ cute I smile every time I see them. I didn’t realize you have to cut them yourself. So I brought out my Tim Holtz scissors. But I am thinking I might invest in some rubber stamp scissors since I know will be buying more Greeting Farm stamps.

One of my smash albums is out.  I use this one to store card ideas, sketches and instructions for making some interactive cards.  I  pulled out some of my very old, Marvy LePlume markers to create a fun to do list for myself.  Yup, and I never put them away. In the back you can see some of my washi tape hanging on the wall. They are another source of happiness in my room. I love seeing them. If only I would use them more! Below all the stamps and stuff you can see a sheet of new business cards. Yes, I decided not to add the expense of paying someone to design and print my business cards. I designed them myself and I print them as needed on my printer at home.  Works for now.

Why all the mess you ask? I have been feverishly trying to crank out some autumnal and Halloween cards for Belinda’s Crafts, my etsy store.  Many things seem to slow me down – procrastination while I eat some cookies, checking my fingernails for breaks, watching a little TV, surfing the web, oh and an actual real excuse was I was having difficulty getting  the photos processed correctly for  Etsy’s requirements.  But I am happy to say that I have put them up on the store and would love you all to take a peek. Maybe, dare I say, consider purchasing?  Oh I know, no plugs so at least take a look at them.

Well I could blab all day long but that wouldn’t be fun for anyone so I will kindly exit now and go snooping.  If you haven’t learned about this amazing creative journey you can take every Wednesday, then head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Have a blessed day!
