IN THE GARDEN – update

A pleasant surprise despite such harsh weather.

A pleasant surprise despite such harsh weather.

This has been a strange gardening season. For weeks the weather has been oppressively hot and humid and I just haven’t been able to care for the plants the way I normally do. I have been trying to keep things watered but the weeds have had free reign.  So I am having to put my perfectionism aside and just be.

The rose bush photo makes me smile I planted it two years ago and it was not looking good last year and this year it has announced itself. I love how straight and upright it is. Some of my other roses are more lanky.

I love looking at my bee balm. It continues to grow and I don’t mind. I have two other veggie garden raised beds and I love catching hummingbirds and bees on them. They are so tall and vibrant. They just make me smile.  In the back is an old plant called false sunflower.  I also planted some sunflower seeds late so we will see if I can get them going.

My dahlias are just starting to update and I will photograph them soon.

Happy gardening!

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday – #214

Hello Everyone!

Last week I was celebrating the 4th of July for several days with family so I literally caught up yesterday with the friends that posted. So when I say it seems like it was just yesterday that I was typing up my WOYWW, there is some truth to it.

So here are some of the things I am working on this week.

So here are some of the things I am working on this week.

Let’s start at the left on my table. I am working on an interactive beach themed card using my Silhouette (which I am loving BTW).  Underneath that is a cigar box I bought a while ago to alter. I bought some really beautiful paper from Heidi Swapp and even some brass legs to attach underneath. So stay tuned for when I actually begin work. I have had it on the shelf and thought perhaps putting it on my desk might be the nudge I need to make it happen (one can hope).  My Jelly Beans are low but have no fear I have several more bags to replenish that I received from dear friends on my birthday.

Latest Silhouette project.

In the back you can see a card I scraplifted from Silhouette’s Blog. I liked it and I am even going to frame it like I saw on their site (no shame here).  In front is a project I started for my husband but I need to print the tiny photos to go in it.

My latest craft haul.

The cute chalkboard hearts are actually attached to mini clips, I want to use them on a card. In the front of my desk is my recent crafty purchase. I got both Amy Tangerine and Dear Lizzy date stamps to use on Project Life.  I bought some new Copic nibs because months ago, I damaged one.  I also bought the latest and greatest Copic Coloring Guide 4. Super excited to work through it. I have learned a lot from each guide and look forward to this one.

My dear friend Bella beautiful ATC.

Recently, I received some mail from South Africa and I did my happy dance even before I opened it because I knew it was from Bella. She surprised me and mailed me an ATC even though I didn’t participate this year. Last time we swapped and she made a beautiful one with an elephant.  Thank you Bella, your the best.

Hello Monday!!

Well hello to you! We had a great week last week. Summer camp stopped for the 4th of July celebrations so the we all headed to my in-laws for a few days for family fun. My niece and nephew were in from Florida for a week so the kids spent all the days together playing (and a little fighting) and laughing.  It was really hot and humid but no rain so I am not totally whining.

The food was yummy and the kids played in the pool all day which led to lots of near sun-burns! My niece and I made patriotic cupcakes that were so very yummy.  There were lots of games played, UNO, Trouble, Charades to name a few.

We went to an indoor water park for one day and went to see the new movie, “Despicable Me 2” at the theater and we completed our fun yesterday with the kids all over here at our home with another barbecue and playing WiiU (apparently the big thing to do.).

Enjoying watermelon has to be one of Apollo's favorite things to do.

Although it wasn’t a complete week, it felt like a week and the kids had a great time. I snapped photos as usual for later use in my scrapbooks and soaked in the fun they were having. Sad to see our family go back to Florida. Possibly another 5 months before we are together again but I am grateful for the time we had this past week.

Today is back to Summer Camp for the boys and back to my craft room.

Hope you all have a blessed week!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #213

Hello Everyone!  Happy Summer to you. I missed last week because I was running around like a mad women with the ending of school for the boys. But then again, aren’t I always running around like a mad women?

This week isn’t that much better.  Family arrived from out of town on Sunday and the boys began summer camp this Monday. I am trying to come up with activities to keep my niece, nephew 3nd my two boys happy for this week. I am also working with my husband to plan our anniversary get away for July 18th.  So very excited. We rarely have alone time and we will have 4 days kid free. More on that later.

Gift bags with teacher's gifts

Gift bags with teacher’s gifts

I did complete and deliver the teacher gifts last week. I didn’t have time to go pick up gift bags so I used lunch bags and used a Fiskars border punch on the top and then I used a ticket punch to create nameplates on each bag. Then I stapled the top (for added suspense) with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher.

I am in the process now of playing Project Life catch up. Which seems to be the pattern for me despite my efforts. I take the photos and have lots of product (don’t we all) but have not sat down and printed and assembled. I would like to get caught up over the next two weeks. So we will see. I am also still in the honeymoon phase with my Silhouette. I haven’t had it long but really am enjoying the great things I can achieve with this tool. I am even thinking of making my own cut files.

I wrapped them in twine.

It has been raining here something fierce and so my gardening has been fleeting moments in the breaks of sunshine.  I have no more to plant but the rain has multiplied my stinkin’ weeds to the thousands!!

I made three different styles.
