What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #158

Some of the fun things I received at my training

Hello! I’m back from my two-days of Copic training and certification. Oh it was great. I met so many amazing women. Some owned craft shops and others were artists looking to improve their techniques.  The first day started at 9am and ended at 4:00 and this class focused more on the basics and techniques. The second day started at 9am and ended at 7:30pm and this second class was really more focused on art principles covering such topics as highlights, midtones, shadows, cast shadows, skin and hair. It was a lot to take in but I am hoping to digest it over time. I believe they were both well worth the money.

We received really cool stuff at the classes too. One surprise was a Copic carrying case for 72 markers. I was so happy when I received mine, I think I might have drooled on myself!!

BLT: My oh so delicious dinner on the second night.

Speaking of drool, when the ladies from my table and I went out to eat, we all decided not to eat anything too heavy for dinner since we still had an hour and a half left of class to return to and a drive home. So many of us ordered BLT (A Bacon Lettuce and Tomatoe Sandwich for those who have not been blessed with the experience).  Well we were all floored when we saw this monstrosity placed before each of us. I must say,  I was doing more chewing than complaining about how big it was. Yum.

Marianne and I

Marianne Walker and I after she signed my Copics Intermediate Certificate

Where to begin. Marianne Walker if you don’t know her, you should check out her website Ilikemarkers. She is beyond amazing. Not only is her coloring the top of the line, she draws the most amazing illustrations. We got to look at one of her portfolios and my jaw dropped.  She had a really fun teaching style that kept you engaged even when the material was rather complex.  She walked around a great deal and worked one-on-one with each person to help us correct our mistakes and answer questions. It was great.

Stuff on my desk

Ok so most of the Copic stuff is still occupying my desk but on this corner I have some of my latest bargains from Joann Fabrics store. They sell goodies too. You can see some liquid adhesive, a super cool punch I was inspired to buy after out ATC swap. It punches out really small shapes. Perfert for ATC designs. I also snagged some cute stamps, fabric butterflies and a new Memento ink. Oh and some cute post it’s flags for my new Smash albums.

Well I better get going so that I can start spanning the globe looking at other desks. If you haven’t learned about this amazing creative journey you can take every Wednesday, then head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Have a blessed day!

Belinda

  2. Hi Belinda! Thanks for stopping by my blog for a visit. And may I say, I am totally jealous you went to a Copic certification class! Someday, when I am independently wealthy, I’m going to have Copic markers!

  3. Congratulations on your certification, it sounds as if you had a wonderful time at the class! I have a small set of copics, and have to admit, am terrible with them–so I very much admire the lovely coloring others do with their markers!

(Thank you for stopping by today, Belinda!)

  5. Congrats on becoming Copic Certified! I would love to do that someday too! I got your ATC today and it is soooo lovely! I have posted in on my blog and I hope you can pop by to see it and read my thanks!
That sandwich looks delicious! And the fries, yum! Looks to me like you have plenty to record this week in your Project Life 🙂

  6. That is one impressive BLT! Thanks for showing it though because now I know what to order for dinner when I meet up with some stamping friends this evening at IHOP (not my favoritest place to eat). I took a couple of Copic classes, not for certification but just how to use them and think all things Copic. They were intense for sure! I have the hardest time with lighting directions, shadows and highlights. I figure as long as I’m having fun, that is what counts. Thanks for the visit earlier today.

  7. Wow a copic class – lucky you! Sounds like you had fun and learnt a lot. TFS Happy WOYWW Cindy #39

  8. That class sounds fantastic. I wish they ran something like that here. What paper do you work on? I remember from my student days that it does make quite a difference and wondered if they had specified a particular type to use to stop the bleeding? Nice new stash you got there too…

  9. Fun post, Belinda! Thanks for the tip about “I like markers!” And your club BLT, OMG! Have a great week! Darnell 129

  10. Wow, what a BLT! Congratulations on your copics certificate. I look forward to seeing what you produce xx

  11. Wow, a copics class…sounds fun. Wish I could find a Promarker one in the UK. Love the goodies you’ve got and looking forward to seeing what you do with them. Have fun! Karen 146 x

  12. What a fabulous experience and wonderful goodies too – Hazel WOYWW #82 x

  13. I was sure you’d enjoy the classes, so glad to be right! Gosh, they are long intense days aren’t they! Love a good give-away at a class too, really adds to your overall enjoyment levels! Bet you haven’t had a BLT like that since you got home! MMMmmmmm
