Project Life: Week twelve – My girlfriend weekend

projectlifelogo1

Hello! I think my week off with the boys zapped my organizational skills because I thought I had already prepared this post before vacation and scheduled it for today. Only to find out that none of that was true. So I had to process this photos for this post and gather my thoughts to share. Here it goes…

week12aWeek twelve!! Well, this was a highly anticipated week because it included my 4-day girlfriend creative getaway.  As many of you may know, I go away once a year with the most talented and inspiring women I know. So this week, was extra happy because I was anticipating the fun to come.

week12bI took a picture of both boys the day I was leaving to share with my friends. Apollo did some kind of pose that looks like he might be dancing.  Nicholas took the time to show off his March Madness t-shirt he would be wearing later that day because he volunteered to help. Each year, I feel bad because March Madness always coincides with my girlfriend weekend so he doesn’t go. But this year, Leao took Apollo and Nicholas. They had great fun.

I included a funny picture of the “happy pills” my friend Kathryn left on my desk one morning. She gave them to all of us and inside was fun candy in the shape of pills. It was funny to see each of our reactions to the case on our craft tables.

Down the bottom was my daily selfie shot that I sent to Leao and the boys. I usually took them in my room or at my craft table so they could see me and what fun things I worked on.

week12cI tried to contain myself when it came to including too many photos and finally gave in to some inserts.  Another selfie, photos of the scenic view while Ashley drove and of course our favorite place to stop for  a sandwhich before finishing the last 40 minutes of our journey.  On the left, I found it fun that a journal Leao had given me that I brought to write in, coordinated with the linen on my bed and pillows.

week12dHad to include breakfast pictures. They are so yummy. I worked on some sunflowers that I had pre- cut on my Silhouette. Then I took a picture of this amazing baby blanket Cathy made for Ashley’s new baby girl. Cathy even made me a pretty knit hat. She is another one of my talented friends who pretty much can do it all, sewing, knitting, paper crafting. Such an inspiration.

week12eI had to include a packing organization picture since that is part  of the process the week prior to the trip. I included my organization of my watercolor and stencil supplies. Since I wanted to try out some watercoloring.  I also included a funny screenshot of a conversation I thought I was having with Ashley to coordinate what I was bringing. Only it turned out that I was texting Leao and even though he responded to tell me, somehow I missed this fact for a few more texts!! I almost wet my pants when I finally realized I was texting him instead of Ashley!  Another great thing is that only another crafter gets how much stuff you bring to a crop or weekend away.  So I included a photo of the final bag total before loading it into the car.

week12fI love that I can get the same room every year. I love the fireplace and layout of the room. I decided a picture of me relaxing in my room would be a great thing to reflect on when I get home so there you have it.  I focused on coloring with different mediums this time around so not just my Copics.  I had new watercolor paints and gave them a try. I also had watercolor pencils. Very fun.

week12gDown time is great because there are all sorts of conversations going on and always something to eat or drink available. I always think I am going to really eat too much but I think with the exception of breakfast, I do pretty good.

week12hOne night we had take out brought in for dinner and I had to snap a photo of all the food waiting for us. I had the most delicious salmon that night. Totally ordering that next year.  I’m drooling just thinking about it.

Well I will be back next Monday with week 13. Wow! We sure are cranking along here aren’t we?

Have a blessed day!

Project Life: Week eleven

This week was filled with a lot of everyday happenings and I even had to add an insert to preserve some important memories.

week11gI was feeling blue about something and I stopped in for my weekly shopping at Trader Joes and I saw this little beauty in the flower section. She is my new orchid called Little lady. As if the beautiful flowers aren’t enough they had to name it that. Little Lady orchids are a true miniature of the typical Phalaenopsis orchid plant. They grow to no more than 7.87 inches high. Which is about a third of a regular orchid. Another bonus is that this Little Lady will bloom up to 12 weeks. I fell for orchids many years ago when I went with my mother to an Orchid show on Cape Cod. We both bought a few plants and so began my love affair. I add new ones to my collection when the feeling is right. On this day, the feeling was right. I have her in the pot she came in but will transfer her to something prettier soon. She is so small I have her on my desk so I can see her everyday while I work.

week11fI was a little down because Apollo had found out that he failed his eye exam and he would need glasses. I knew the chances of him getting glasses was inevitable but was hoping not so soon. But the picture above shows him the day we walked out of the eye doctor’s office with his first pair of glasses on. He was so happy and that eased my concerns for him.

I included a picture of the latest card I colored up and me reading at pick up. The last picture is so great seeing Apollo siting in a Hero Yoga seated pose. Of course he is just sitting playing and I walked by and told Leao to look and explained the flexibility required to sit that way and he just did it unknowing.  Love it.

week11cI added an 8×11 insert to hold Nicholas’ recent award from school for Integrity. I am so proud. These awards hold a special place in my heart even more so than the report cards. I love that he received this award. I am one proud momma.

week11b Breakfast with two of my favorite friends always makes my day.  My food was so yummy and filled me through lunch! A week of doctor’s appointments (dentist and orthadontist) filled the beginning of the week. Apollo took a picture of me sorting for mailing out the ATC happy mail. Busy week.

week11a

I like the vibrant colors of our breakfast place so I played off of that for my color selections.

See you next Monday with week 12.

Happy crafting!

Project Life: Week eight

projectlifelogo1

I am a bit off schedule on pretty much everything. My oldest son was sick for the past three days and the back burner everything went. So I am posting this rather later than usual.

week8aWeek eight was a fun week but also very stressful with the sheer volume of snow we had. Never before had I thought about our roof and trees during the winter months before this winter. Every time I watched the news I would see another roof collapsing and trees come down. I think our roof is pitched enough that we didn’t have to worry so much but our deck is covered and the pitch isn’t as steep. Leao bought a long tool to pull some of the snow off of the roof and then he took out our ladder and climbed up (yes, in hindsight, it was dangerous and we probably should not of done it). I watched him shovel off our deck from the boys’ bedroom window. It was insane. Looking at the photos it doesn’t look like he is shoveling a roof!

week8bTo escape the house we took the boys to The Yardhouse to eat on one day. What can I say about that but pure yumminess!!

week8cThe crazy thing is that I had Leao take the picture of me on our walkway to show how high the snow was, well it got much higher. At it’s peak, it made me feel like we where walking through a snow tunnel to get to the cars and I am pretty sure the neighbors could barely see us come and go.

week8dI love capturing our reading sessions on my camera. It’s so important to me and I hope they look back and remember the times with fondness. Last year, in addition reading my books I started listening to audiobooks. I just love it. So I decided to take a picture of me walking around with my iPhone listening to my audio books. It’s something I do when I work and sometimes when I cook.

On our way to visit my in-laws we saw all sorts of warning signs up on the highway so I snapped a picture of that.

My niece’s that lives in Florida celebrated her birthday this week and my sister-in-law sent me this beautiful photo of her. Wow, I remember her in diapers and now 13!! What a beautiful and intelligent young girl she has become.

Still Fan Girling Sujata Massey. So when I received an email from her, I still did my little happy dance. Perhaps this year, I will get to meet he in person. Love her books.

Well that is all for this week. I will be back next week with week nine!

Happy scrapping my friends!!

Project Life: Week seven

week7aHello Everyone!  Happy Monday!  Today I would like to share with you my Week 7 of Project Life. This week I just love how the colors and pages came out. Some weeks, I am just ok with the layouts and then there are others that I really love. This week for some reason I just felt things flowed nicely and the colors look good.

week7bI wake up before sunrise to meditate and exercise at my home. So after I meditate I always grab my phone and look out the window for the sun. I love capturing sunrise. It’s a special moment in the day. This one was exceptionally beautiful sunrise with the silhouette of the trees around my neighbor’s yard so I thought I would include it in the album.

week7c

The picture of our front yard and garage buried under the snow is unbelievable and now that we broke the record for most snowiest winter, it is a great documentation for the boys to look back and see. I also included Nicholas working with his science partner at the library on their report. And Apollo working on his Valentine he made me on his Silhouette Portrait.

week7f

I recently downloaded the Project Life app and played round with a journaling card and added a photo for my Valentine lunch with Leao. I liked how it came out and it was simple to do. So I will definitely incorporate some more in weeks to come. Besides, I am not the biggest fan of my handwriting so any opportunity to reduce the occurrence is good by me.

week7eMy friend Joan knows I love Tiana from Disney’s Princess and the Frog movie.  When we took the boys this fall to Disney, I couldn’t find her. So when Joan went a few weeks back, she found the most beautiful ornament of Tiana and bought her for me. Well, I knew exactly where she would go – in my craft room! She hangs above my head on my cabinets. So when I need a little Disney magic to pick up my day, I glance up at her.

week7dI always read before bed and so one day, I decided to take a picture of my Nook on my bed before I started reading. It’s one of those daily habits that I overlook when documenting my life. I’ve captured reading at pick up but not bedtime.  I love catching the boys writing their Valentines’ cards. This will be Nicholas’ last year since I am pretty sure in middle school they stop exchanging them.  I want more pictures of Leao in my album too so I took the opportunity when we went out for our Valentine lunch to take one of him.  He still can rock the chopsticks like a pro. Me..not so much but believe me, I manage. I also love the photo of the boys walking out from school. The mounds are so high but the point also to note is after I stand out there freezing my butt off, they often rush ahead of me to the car!

Another great week. I will be back with 8 next week.

Happy crafting!
