30 Day Coloring Challenge #4: Day 12: Forever my Valentine Card

logo

Hello my craft-lovin’ friends! It’s day 12 of the color challenge and I am still at it. Yesterday was a long day and so I was unable to complete my card. So this morning I was on a mission to finish coloring my image and pull together a Valentine’s day card.

One of the fun things about this craft is that from time to time, you get faced with a mistake that you must find a creative workaround to make them work. Sometimes, It might be my color combinations don’t work as planned, sometimes, it’s a stamping error, etc. Well I printed up multliple digi images on Copic paper to color for various projects. Sometimes I print them up with space for me to incorporate a drawn background and other times, I lay them out so that I can maximize the amount I can fit on a sheet with the intention of fussy cutting them out after I color them. Well in haste, I forgot to print a test view to see if everything fit on the page. So the balloon on this image was clipped.  I don’t like to waste paper and products so as a rule I find a way to make it work for the project or use on another to avoid wasting anything.

day12aSo I pushed the imaged flush right and cut off a little more of the balloon to line up with the right edge of the card.  Problem solved!! I also designed two sentiment designs (love, forever) on my Silhouette and played around to ensure the digi when cut out, would fit nicely with the word. I used the print and cut feature on my Silhouette (yes I use a Cricut cutting mat – don’t judge) to cut out the cards and then placed the image on each to see which sentiment I would use for this card.

day12bI ended up using the ‘Forever’ sentiment and matted it on American Crafts ‘Everyday’ patterned paper.

I think I might just use this card for my husband. That way I can still see her cute face around the house!

It’s really cold here (18 degrees) and I am thinking of stopping work early, making tea and grabbing my book and heading to my reading nook for a little comfort.

I will be back tomorrow for day 13!

Have a lovely weekend!

30 Day Coloring Challenge #4: Day 11 – The Beginning of a Valentine’s Card

logo

Today was pretty crazy so here I am uploading my post at 8:30ish! I did get some coloring in but hadn’t had the chance to prepare a post.

day11I picked out a digi from Saturated Canary, picked some go-to colors and printed her up on some copic paper. Then I realized the balloon was cut off a little. Tomorrow I will show you how I can create a work-around once I finish coloring and complete the card.

Good night and happy coloring!

30 Day Coloring Challenge #4: Day 10 – Mother’s Day card

logoHello and welcome to day 10 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge. I am hanging in there. Today I had to stop and start coloring to run errands and take care of some administrative work for my business. But I am happy to say I completed the card from the image I began coloring yesterday.

day10aI finished coloring a second pair of the flowers and then cut them out as well as the leaves.

day10bI then used my Memento pen to go around the fresh cut edges for a more finished look.

day10cInspired by Kathy, I pulled out my distress inks and added some more color. Using different color mediums on a project can really bring them to the next level. They softened any hard lines on the flowers.

day10dI colored a third flower center so that I could have three levels of dimension on the final card. I also embossed some cardstock and diecut a stitched circle on my Cuttlebug. I also played around with cutting out several petals on for the top layer to make the flower look more dimensional and curled the petal edges so they would raise nicely.

day10eI used my MISTI to stamp a new sentiment I just bought this week at Michael’s from Hero Arts.  I layed out the circle like I wanted it and positioned my stamp right where I wanted it to go and then inked it up.

day10fIt came out great. I love this tool because it takes the nerves our of sentiment stamping for me. Nothing like ruining a pretty project with a messed up impression.

day10gWhile I had the stamp on the MISTI, I inked up and stamped another sentiment so that I could make another card soon.

day10hYou didn’t think I used any of the leaves I fussy cut did you? Well I did. I placed one more on the right side with dots and my tweezers. I love the way it looks with this extra leaf.

day10jI added Wink of Stella clear to the centers for a touch of shine. and you can see the dimension of this card from this shot.

day10iMy final card came out pretty cool. I definitely going to make some more.

Happy coloring friends. I have two appointments tomorrow so I may post late but I will see you tomorrow.

30 Day Coloring Challenge #4: Day 9 – Coloring Flowers

logo

I love flowers and stamps with flowers just make me smile. After looking at yesterday’s post from Kathy Raccoosin, who is hosting this challenge, I decided to pull out one of my flower stamps and give it a go. I stamped up a bunch because I intend on cutting them up to make a dimensional flower for a card.

day9a

I for some reason, leaned towards yellows, oranges and reds for this flower.

day9bBut I think I will try a pink combo later.

day9cThis is as far as I got before I had to pick up the boys from school. My plan was to complete this but Apollo was sick in school so now I am going to cut this short and put on my nurse’s hat for the rest of the day. I will try to finish it tomorrow although I think my “nursing’ duties will extend into tomorrow.

Have a blessed night my friends!
