12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts: Day 12 – Holiday Teacups Card & Bookmark

day12_teacup_trio_cardand_mGood afternoon and welcome to day twelve of my 12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts! What? I did it.  This has been a fun challenge. On one of the busiest months of the year, I managed to post different projects daily for 12 days.  No easy task in this house.  So I am thrilled and so happy you rode on this wild journey with me.

I officially will be on vacation beginning December 23 but until then I will have a few posts here and there. In the new year, I will resume a regular schedule with some new blog series.

day12_teacup_trio_cardand_2Today’s project was a Teacup holiday card and bookmark. You know how much I love teacups and this stamp set from Flourishes was mine once they put them in their shop.

I used Stampin Up cardstock as my card base and ‘Tis the Season’ patterned paper from Echo Park.  I included a small strip inside for continuity.  I wasted no paper and used the remaining of 6×6 paper to make a matching bookmark.  I love the end result and no scraps to throw away was a bonus.

I hope you have a blessed day and Happy Hanukkah to my friends that celebrate today.

12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts: Day 11 – Deer Holiday card

day11_dear_card1Good afternoon and welcome to day eleven of my 12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts! Wow, we are almost finished with this series.  It has been a fun challenge for me and I hope you’ve enjoyed it too.

Today’s project is a card created with Silhouette files. I saw this card on the Silhouette blog and I had to make it. It’s really simple and elegant without a lot of fuss. One confession I have to make is that I just realized I forgot to attach the little red bow that goes around the deer’s neck before I took and processed these photos. (Sorry).

day11_dear_card2I love the simple color palette. I like nature cards and this one is really even prettier in person.  I attached this files to a 4.25 inch  square card base.

day11_dear_card3The other great thing is that I definitely see me using all the components of this file in separate projects in the near future. That’s one thing I look for when purchasing Silhouette files is the diverse amount of ways to use them.

I photographed this card on the carpet in my craft room with the closet door behind.  Nothing fancy today. Just wanted to focus on the card.

This weekend we picked up our Christmas tree. We often go and cut our own tree but feeling so rushed, we decided to buy local. I will share some photos soon of Apollo and I decorating it.

I hope you had a great weekend and have a blessed day!

12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts: Day 10 – Not Even a Mouse card

day10_not_even_a_mouse1Good afternoon and welcome to day ten of my 12 Days of Holiday Cards and Crafts! Yeah, it’s Friday! Happy day! Today we are going to go buy our Christmas Tree when Leao gets home from work.

day10_not_even_a_mouse2Today’s card features the cutest digi from Mo’s Digital Pencil. It is called, ‘Not Even a Mouse’.  I print and cut it using my Silhouette. I chose this pattern paper from Authentique again. The soft muted colors reminded me of a sweater. The little mouse looks so cozy . I used a Kraft paper as the card base with a top fold.

day10_not_even_a_mouse3I pulled the colors from the paper for my inspiration for coloring with my Copics.  I love tea and tea cups so this image just had to be mine.  I also used some collage paper on this card that I have had for years. It’s a pad of 20 sheets with handmade papers in various colors and patterns. I found one that matched the color in the pattern paper and used it to mat the image. I added pop dots for dimension and bling on the bottom for balance.

day10_not_even_a_mouse4Inside I put a strip of the patterned paper for continuity. No greeting or sentiment on the inside. Just letting the image speak for itself. I used my foot stool in my craft room for my prop.

I hope you have a blessed weekend! I will be back on Monday with Day 11.

Happy World Card Making Day (WCMD) 2014!!

WCMD2014

Happy World Card Making Day my creative peeps!! What a perfect day it is for WCMD here. It’s raining and a bit of an overcast. So I grab a cup of tea and see a day of crafting happening here. I first have a craft hour with my dear friend Ashley and then back to working on some of the cards you see above.

What? You don’t know what WCMD is? This is a great definition I grabbed off the internet to help if you don’t know.

WHAT
World Card Making Day is a holiday especially for card makers around the world to:

  • Celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family
  • Kick off (and get a head start on) the holiday card-making season
WHEN
The first Saturday of each October, kicking off the holiday card-making season, the most popular time for creating and sharing handmade greetings.
WHO
The card-making community worldwide, including hobbyists, beginning card makers, manufacturers of card-making products, retail sellers of products, educators, and press are invited to come together to celebrate this holiday and creative passion.
WHY
It is a day to connect with fellow card makers both near and far, to applaud the creativity that powers the craft, and to provide an opportunity for card makers to connect and find resources that will empower, inspire, and encourage them in their card making.

So in honor of WCMD, I thought I would share some of my favorite cards I have made this past year:
