Silhouette Sunday #13: bookmarks

bookmark1

Hello Everyone! I have been missing my Silhouette. This summer has pulled me in so many directions that I haven’t had much time to play like I like to with my Silhouette. But I did make a quick bookmark with it.

I was inspired by the store bought bookmark that I recently bought Apollo at the bookstore.  So I used this great calligraphy phrase by Tanya Batrak on the Silhouette store ( Design ID: #61896 ).

I created two with ribbons on the top.

The other two I used twine, beads from my old jewelry making days and metal charms.

Apollo has already asked to have one so move over store bought bookmarks.

Well I am off to go put one of these to use in my recent book.

Have a blessed day!

The Making of Classmate Gifts

classgift1a

This is the first year that I didn’t go all out like normal and make gifts for the boys’ classmates throughout the year.  So I thought I would end the year with some bookmarks. Since all the talk is summer reading, I thought this would be a practical gift.

So I used my butterfly punch and punched out a bunch of butterflies and I used my Silhouette to design the bookmarks and cut them out. So I really only had to attach my butterfly and add twine to the top.  Of course 55 bookmarks later, I can tell you I am glad it is complete. Anytime I batch process a project, I start out all happy and towards the end I am near screaming for it to end!!

Apollo couldn’t wait so he picked his before I sent them in to school today!

Have a blessed day!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #235

Hi Everyone! I have been away a few weeks and have missed you.  I miss all that crafty goodness you all display on your desks that make me want to play in my craft room even more.

The base for the bookmarks.

I have an annual book club holiday party to attend tonight.  We all bring a book or two that are wrapped and meet at a local restaurant. We have a book swap and play trivia for prizes. Last year, I won a Christmas Cactus and  I was so thrilled I think I told everyone the next day (obviously I am still bragging!).  So I decided to put my Silhouette to work and created some bookmarks  for each member.

Book quotes

I used the’ print and cut’ feature to create the quote I placed on each book mark. The funny part is that my toner on my printer needs replacing so when I printed the quotes they started out green and then faded to aqua towards the end of each quote. The aqua matches perfectly and it looks I was trying for some gradient effect.  So I didn’t have to toss them.  I love that.

I was also pleased I didn’t have to by anything to make these little gifts for my friends.  I even shopped my ribbon stash and found the ribbons to attach to each.  Love when that happens.

Another thing on my desk or should I say my little side table is my Project Life catch up process. I am almost finished with the printing of the photos and will go in to add embellishments.

If you haven’t learned about this amazing creative journey you can take every Wednesday, then head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

I hope you all have a blessed day.
