Fun Photo Friday – #15 – First turkey sighting of the season

Turkey in my neighbor's yard.

Turkey in my neighbor’s yard.

Hello everyone and happy Friday!  Well we are known for having a lot of wildlife moving through our yard from time to time but I found this too be a little early for this big fella!  I snagged a photo of him entering my neighbors yard.  I still get a thrill when I see them. They just seem to appear out of no where and I can never quite think of what they are doing. I mean are they eating something? Running from something? Or just flat out snooping around. Either way, it is a thrill each time I see them. Little brushes with nature are always welcome.

Have a great weekend and I will be back next weekend!

Flowers in bloom

'Bernadette' Chrysanthemum in bloom in my garden.

‘Bernadette’ Chrysanthemum in bloom in my garden.

This time of year is one of my favorite.  I love the smell of the cool air in the morning and chimneys burning at night. I love all the fall decorations and I wait for the leaves to change all those pretty colors so we can take pictures and go for walks in the park.

Another fall favorite is seeing all the pretty chrysanthemums (mums) out in everyone’s yard.  I used to buy them each year and discard them at the end of the season. A few years ago, my father-in-law found out I did that and told me to put them in the ground so that I can enjoy them again and again. I am so glad I listened because they look gorgeous.

This plant is really special to me because it shares the same name as my sister, Bernadette.  She is a big sunshine in my life and how fitting that the flowers are yellow.  So when she isn’t available to talk to I can catch a glimpse of these beauties and am reminded how blessed I am to have such a wonderful sister.

Have a blessed day!

Apple picking time!!

First apple picking of the season.

Apple cheers!!!

Last year, I somehow managed to miss a good opportunity to take the boys apple picking.  So this year, I wasn’t playing around, we had to work it in to our schedule. With Nicholas’ birthday party on Sunday we had to squeeze it in on Saturday after Apollo’s soccer practice. It wasn’t the most ideal time but Apollo took a nap on the drive up to Russell’s Orchard in Ipswich.

It wasn’t a crisp fall like feel to the weather but the sun wasn’t too bad either.  We picked Gala, Macoun and Ginger Gold apples.  This was my first time eating the Ginger Gold and they are delicious.  After picking apples the boys stopped by the shop for ice cream and Leao and I some donuts of course!

Then we headed over to Crane Beach to catch some fresh air. I will spare you the picture Leao took of my snoozing!

Have a blessed day!

Fun Photos Friday – #14

Bubble time!

Bubble time!

Happy Friday everyone! Friday is definitely one of my favorite days of the week. I always look forward to more unstructured time with family.  I also know I am going to sneak in reading time on my deck which I have to say I have been doing a lot of even on weekdays as of late.

This week’s picture is of Apollo playing with his bubbles. I am always happy to see my kids’ reaction to bubbles. It is such simple past time and they simply enjoy it.

At first he couldn’t blow them. He either blew too hard or too soft so I would blow them and he and his brother would chase and pop them.  Now that he mastered the art of blowing his own,  he even puts his tech toys down to play.  Let’s face it, bubble never get old.

Hope you find something simple and fun to do this weekend.

Have a blessed Friday!
