Project life: Week ten

week10eHello Everyone and welcome to week ten of my Project Life Album. I typically use 4×6 cards as the weekly title card but this week, I had many photos and the 3×4 card was the perfect option. I circled the week and added letter stickers to spell out Week 10.

week10aThis was a fun week. I included mostly photos from the weekend since that is when I took the most photos. I also didn’t stress about placing the photos exactly in the order they happened.

week10bI was listening to a podcast the week before this one and the topic was about preserving memories in multiple formats. I always take pictures but I am guilty of not using the video camera on my iPhone to capture picture and sound. I know that I cherish all audio I have of my mother’s voice and wish I had even more.  So I decided to start incorporating some video in my memory keeping practices.

My brother-in-law came into town for a surprise visit with my mother-in-law so I took the opportunity to capture a little bit of video to hear the discussion especially with the boys. It’s funny, I always force Leao and his family to pose for group photos and they always comply knowing I like pictures. A cousin even dropped by and I dragged him into the photos too. I loved listening Apollo talking to his uncle about his new iPad mini. Apollo was so serious and wanted to provide all the details.

week10cNicholas rarely poses for photos so when I saw him willing to pose with his Vovo, I snapped away. I also had to include the cutest photo of the boys at their annual physical. They do it together ( I know these days are limited) and they looked so cute in their hospital gowns. No shots…yeah!!

I went on a nail detox for myself. No nail polish for several months so I took a photo of my first day back to color play on my nails.  I often won’t wear it, if I am working on projects for Belinda’s Crafts because there is nothing worse than coloring and preparing a product only to smudge your nail polish on them the last 5 minutes of work.  Not fun. I usually scream and toss the project aside to hopefully salvage at least for my personal use.

I participated in 30-day coloring challenge and I included a photo of me “coloring on”. I love that challenge. Out of the 30 days I believe I did about 17 days which I wish was more but glad I did it and would like to continue on my own.

I also ordered Zumba and I included a picture of me watching the videos for the first time to get acquainted with them before I begin using them. It’s funny because I am laying back with my feet up. Sure wish that I could burn calories watching rather than actually doing the exercises!!

week10d

I loved using the wooden embellishments from my Cocoa Daisy kit. It’s so pretty I almost didn’t use it.

Well I am off to do some work. I hope you are having a blessed Monday.

I’ll be back next week with week 11.

Project Life: Week nine

projectlifelogo1

Hello! Happy Monday. Here I am with another week of project life to share. As I was writing this post, I realized that this is the first week that I featured mostly myself in the layout. So many times I think about how I am always the one taking the photos and that I won’t have enough record of me for my kids and future generations but I seem to have made up for this in week nine if nothing else!!

week9aFirst off, I love the graphic of the older telephone on the title card. I remember using a rotary dial telephone growing up.So it is fun for me to see the image. I remember feeling like we were the last family on the Cape where I grew up with a rotary phone. I thought my mother was doing it on purpose to make my life miserable (yup, I had my bratty moments as a kid too!).

When I look at the two-page spread, I laugh and say, if you squint real hard you might that was me on the cover of InStyle magazine. NOT!! That is Ms. Kerry Washington and for those of you that don’t know her, she is a pretty amazing actress and activist that I have gained some inspiration from over the last few years. Not only is she an amazing actress, but she speaks her mind so eloquently and has immersed herself deeply into her activist endeavors. Just a great person all around. So when I saw an interview with her, I picked up the magazine.

week9bI included a photo of Apollo with his first big Silhouette project he made. I truly love that he is interested in my crafts and wants to participate. He has even joined my ATC swap group and loves making and receiving art from my friends.

This week I also ordered a Zumba DVD set from non other than QVC. You know how those infomercials hook you!  Actually, I had been researching some cardio DVDs including Zumba prior to the QVC offer. So it just helped me go ahead and take the leap.

I have always incorporated fitness in my life. In college, I began weight lifting, after college I added Yoga and then Pilates. So recently I thought I would give Zumba a try. Now, I have taken spin classes and yoga classes with no inhibitions but Zumba…nope. I am too shy to partake in a class with real people. So the next option was to research DVDs so I could avoid humiliation.

I have to say, weeks later, that I am enjoying it. This set came with so many DVD workout options and even a step for a Zumba step class. It’s a lot of fun, I sweat a lot and I am slowly learning all the movies. Ultimately it’s a fun way to incorporate cardio without having to go running (something, I am not interested in doing). It even comes with a schedule so all I have to do is show up in my living room and dance.

The photo of the chalkboard on the far right is in the boys’ playroom. I noticed it one day when I was coming down the stairs so I took a picture and sent it to Leao at work to ask him what this tally system represented. He didn’t know. I only hope that it is something good, since I have more tally marks!

My “Hi, honey” photos. Well, throughout the week, I like to send what I call my Hi honey selfies to Leao to remind him I am thinking of him. The picture of me holding the tea cup and the two on the second page are my Hi honey photos. It’s what I do. Don’t judge.

As winter was winding down, I found myself drawn to any window in our house that let in rays of sunlight. Fortunately, in the afternoon, I can lay on my couch and close my eyes and pretend I am sitting outside somewhere warm.  So I naturally grabbed my book and soaked up the rays. Apollo joined me and Nicholas took the photo.

I also included a photo from our night out with the boys to go see the High School drama club perform The Jungle Book. It was great. They liked it. Apollo asked his usual questions which are, “Is there an intermission so we can go to the concession stand?”.  Is he a mini-me or what? Definitely going to look for more opportunities like that for them.

week9cI included a photo of the complementary workstation I sat at the Honda gallery while waiting for my car to get serviced. It was actually nice and I used my laptop with their free WIFI and got some work done. But then it turned into a longer stay so I sent a text to my friend Maria. She is so sweet. She came and picked me up, took us to lunch where we laughed and ate some yummies and then when my car still wasn’t ready, she drove me to pick up to get the boys and then back to finally pick up my car. It was one of those unscheduled girlfriend moments that was so great. The time went by fast because we had time to catch up and laugh at silly things. Like me complaining about how big the portions are that the restaurant served and yet, there was nothing left on my plate at the end of our meal! So funny.

I also included a photo of my ATC cards I made for February. I chose Black History for my theme and made them on my Silhouette.

A great week overall. I will be back next week with week 10. Wow we are moving into the two digits!!

Have a blessed day!

Project Life: Week eight

projectlifelogo1

I am a bit off schedule on pretty much everything. My oldest son was sick for the past three days and the back burner everything went. So I am posting this rather later than usual.

week8aWeek eight was a fun week but also very stressful with the sheer volume of snow we had. Never before had I thought about our roof and trees during the winter months before this winter. Every time I watched the news I would see another roof collapsing and trees come down. I think our roof is pitched enough that we didn’t have to worry so much but our deck is covered and the pitch isn’t as steep. Leao bought a long tool to pull some of the snow off of the roof and then he took out our ladder and climbed up (yes, in hindsight, it was dangerous and we probably should not of done it). I watched him shovel off our deck from the boys’ bedroom window. It was insane. Looking at the photos it doesn’t look like he is shoveling a roof!

week8bTo escape the house we took the boys to The Yardhouse to eat on one day. What can I say about that but pure yumminess!!

week8cThe crazy thing is that I had Leao take the picture of me on our walkway to show how high the snow was, well it got much higher. At it’s peak, it made me feel like we where walking through a snow tunnel to get to the cars and I am pretty sure the neighbors could barely see us come and go.

week8dI love capturing our reading sessions on my camera. It’s so important to me and I hope they look back and remember the times with fondness. Last year, in addition reading my books I started listening to audiobooks. I just love it. So I decided to take a picture of me walking around with my iPhone listening to my audio books. It’s something I do when I work and sometimes when I cook.

On our way to visit my in-laws we saw all sorts of warning signs up on the highway so I snapped a picture of that.

My niece’s that lives in Florida celebrated her birthday this week and my sister-in-law sent me this beautiful photo of her. Wow, I remember her in diapers and now 13!! What a beautiful and intelligent young girl she has become.

Still Fan Girling Sujata Massey. So when I received an email from her, I still did my little happy dance. Perhaps this year, I will get to meet he in person. Love her books.

Well that is all for this week. I will be back next week with week nine!

Happy scrapping my friends!!

30-Day Coloring Challenge: Day 16 – Day 22

challenge_graphic-4-revisedHello Everyone! I am still loving this challenge. I went away last Thursday and the internet access was spotty so I only managed to post one update via my Instagram. So I decided now that I am home, I can share what coloring I have been doing for the past 5 days.

I have yet to recap and post a blog on my weekend away but I will soon. During that time I spent four days with some of the most creative women I know up in the mountains in Jackson New Hampshire at a cozy Inn.

110On Day 16, I wanted to explore water coloring. Despite my nice accumulation of watercolor products, I hadn’t even cracked the seal on most.  My latest purchase was a set of 24 Derwent Inktense Watercolor pencils. So on my first day up in Jackson, I opened them up and started playing. The first thing I would say is that they are very neat and no worry of cross contaminating the water brush I used with them. What drew me to them in the first place was the vibrant colors. Typically water coloring is very muted, mostly pastel in color. But you can achieve vibrant colors if you choose to work with these pencils.

On Day 17, I returned to my Copics and colored up a Saturated Canary image with some new copic colors that I recently purchased. She is so pretty and girly and I love everything about this image.

On Day 18, I played with watercolor again (round 2) and the butterflies didn’t come out how I would like the first time around but will continue to work on it. I also made some pretty cards with the flowers I water colored. I can’t wait to try them with my Copics. It’s fun seeing the different results. I want to offer some water colored products soon so this play time is with the intention of gaining some skills.

On Day 19 was off to shop with Ashley and travel home! Yup, no coloring.

On Day 20 was my first day back home in my craft room. I needed to begin the process which takes me a while to put all my craft supplies back from my trip. I wish I could say I finished putting everything away but that is a lie and my family might call me on it, since they see my craft room everyday. But I am sure everything will return to it’s proper place soon.

On Day 21, I only had 5 minutes between errands and appointments and catching up on work. So I began coloring up an old digital file from Mo Manning. I used her last Easter and will do it again. She and the bunny are just so cute, I can’t help but say awww every time I see this image. Mo is one of my favorite digital designers by far.

On Day 22, One again, nothing. Homework with the boys and work for me. So not coloring.

I am really trying to stick to this challenge. It is difficult on some days and others, very easy, but I am sticking with it. I do find posting it on my blog takes a lot more time so in the future I think I will continue my updates  on my Instagram account. Thanks for hanging in there with me.

Happy crafting!

Belinda
