My Birthday in Review

Hello! As some of you might know, my birthday was last Monday and my birthday month is rapidly coming to an end so I thought I would share some of the things I did that made me really happy.

The first thing I did after dropping the boys off for school was to take my morning walk. I recently started walking in the mornings. Inspired by my sister Berni, I lace up and walk my neighborhood. I really love walking the lake in Wakefield but I can’t make excuses when I walk here and it is more efficient so I can get back to work faster.

birthday2014eThen I went to shop for a few outfits and spent several hours in the Barnes and Noble bookstore reading and drinking my Soy Chai tea!! That had to be me favorite thing. If I have free time, that is one of the things I enjoy most is drinking tea and reading a book especially in cafes.

birthday2014fLeao came home early from work and they took me to one of my new favorite restaurants, Qchara in Melrose. Yes, that is avocados stuffed with quinoa, corn and other goodies and fried plaintains with a yummy smoothie. It was a delicious meal.

Then we headed home to relax.  A perfect birthday indeed.

Then later in the week, I spent time with my crafty girlfriends and celebrated my birthday with my dear friend Ashley.

She made me some apple sauce, yum! She also made this lovely box on her Cricut and used her flower punch board to make the flowers. The little garden lady in the middle is a garden decor. Isn’t this the cutest gift?   I hung it up in my craft room and the garden lady, who my son Apollo has renamed her “Ashley” is now in my garden. I think I will take pictures of her in different areas of my garden throughout the summer.

Well enough about my birthday until next year that is…

2014 FIFA World Cup – let’s get this party started!!

The boys are so excited for the first day of the 2014  FIFA World Cup games.  Brazil is hosting the games this time. The boys put their Brazil T-shirts on today for school. Today we will watch the first game between Brazil and Croatia. Hmm…who do you think we want to win?

We all installed the app so we can keep track of scores and who is playing. You can find out more information at the official site.

Since my birthday is on Monday, I thought I would try something different with my hair. I find it much easier to try things as I get older. So today I am going to go get highlights in my hair for the first time.   My logic:  People in Hollywood, shave their heads for movies so a simple change in color shouldn’t be a big deal right?  I figure, if not now when? Besides if I don’t like it, I will go back and color over it.

At least that is what I keep telling myself to keep the nerves at bay.

It’s My Birthday Month!

Yes you read it right..Birthday Month. I used to insist that my birthday always extended to the full week my birthday landed on with my family. I would say, “It’s just too good to contain to one day, such an epic event as my birth.” Leao would humor me and indulge if not only to keep me from going on and on about it.  But then enters my friend Ashley and Joan and they declare a whole month for their birthday. So this year, I too am taking up the practice.birthdaymonth2014b

June is my month. Think about it…when you are at the jewelry store the salesperson says to you, ” Which month were you born? So they can tell you your birthstone.  Or the horoscopes…they are neatly organized by months.  Okay, so my argument isn’t so strong.  Buy I think my friends are onto something and I am going to go with it.

Last night I went to meet some of my super crafty friends for our regular crop night and what did I find? A beautiful tiara, a balloon and yummy chocolate cake for moi and my sweet friends. They sang and I got to blow out the candle. My actually birthday isn’t until the 16th but I sure am liking the lovin’ I received last night. So let the month of June be a fun one!  I sure am blessed to have such warm and loving friends.

Fun Photos Friday #24: Finding a Home for Totoro

funphotofriday26aOne of Apollo’s favorite movies is “My Neighbor Totoro” by Hayao Miyazaki, one of Japan’s beloved animator.  We have collected and watched many of his films.  But Apollo couldn’t stop talking about the character Totoro.  So I headed online to Amazon and of course there were several to choose from.  I let him pick out the one he wanted and ordered it.

On Monday, it arrived and I placed him on Apollo’s bed for a surprise when he arrived home from school.  I told him to go make his bed after he hung up his coat because he hadn’t made it in the morning.  Seems like after school works best for both Nicholas and Apollo so I try not to cringe when I look at it all day.  He was so thrilled when he saw Totoro sitting on his bed.

funphotofriday26bHe spent much of the afternoon making Totoro “talk” and then introduced him to his other stuffed animals.

funphotofriday26cLooks like Totoro has all of his adult teeth. Apollo has some catching up to do!

funphotofriday26dThe next day before Apollo went to school he tucked Totoro, Bee and Dino under the blanket on the couch.  I was charged with watching them while he was at school.  I know he is getting older but I still adore his relationship with his stuffed animals.

I apologize for few posts lately but I have been working on some products for a custom order for Belinda’s Crafts and trying to balance my blogging time has been a little more challenging.
