My Little Graduate

Apollo marching in with his classmates

Today, my little boy graduated from Preschool.  The school sent home a cap and gown to be worn for the ceremony. Leao ironed it last night and I picked out his clothes. All week, I would overhear Apollo singing songs that I asumed he would perform with his classmates.

Apollo and his diploma

He was so proud to show off his diploma

We have a history with this preschool, Peas in a Pod. Nicholas went to the same school for a year and a half and we had a such a good experience with very able and loving teachers. So when it came time to choose a place for Apollo, it came easy for us. I remember dropping off Nicholas for his first day and sitting in the parking lot crying on the telephone with my sister Berni.  She told me it would be alright and that I was doing the right thing.

Apollo and I

It was so cute to take a photo with my little graduate.

Four years later, I took Apollo for his first day and he didn’t cry on his first day but I could feel my throat closing as I left the building. I cried for both the same and different reasons. This time, would be my last time for he was my last child.  He would spend time with other people and less and less time with m

e.

Big brother posing with the graduate

Big brother, Nicholas took time to pose with our little graduate.

So today, the weather started out raining but it cleared when it came time to go outside for the pettying zoo and food they had planned for the children.  Apollo really loves animals so he ran right up to the cages so he could pet each one. I was very proud of how brave he was going up to each one and petting them.  He liked watching the goat eat the hay.

After that, we went out to Border Cafe for lunch. The boys yummed up some chips and salsa, chicken and fries then we went home. Apollo said he wished he could bring an animal home. I like that he likes animals so much. It reminds me of my mum.

Posing for me at the house.

A very special day indeed.

Apollo and Bee

It wouldn’t be complete without a picture with Apollo’s bear “Bee”

Apollo in blanket

A bundle of cuteness

There is something special about the feeling of a warm blanket when it comes out of the dryer.  I have always loved this since I was a kid. If I had to take the blanket out of the dryer in our basement, I would wrap it around me and inhale the fresh smell.  Then I would bring it upstairs for someone to use or to be folded and put away.

Well on this day, Apollo was my shadow wandering around the house and he followed me to the laundry room when I pulled out his comforter. So I wrapped it around him and said, “Feel it, it feels so warm and fresh”.  He of course took it in for a second and then went onto his usual antics and began playing. You can see the change in his face in the second photo.

Mischief is right around the corner!

I hope one day he will wrap up his child and let them soak in the warmth as I did many times as a child and still do as an adult.

Mickey Pancakes

Mickey Pancake

Well, well, well, let me set the stage for this photo. At first glance you think, wow that is an amazing pancake, I sure would love to have one that looks like that now nevermind how exciting it would be for a child.  Well Leao and I had gone to this breakfast nook one day and loved it. We saw that on the menu they had Mickey Mouse pancakes so we thought wow we have to have the boys come here and try them.  The next week we take them and ordered one for Nicholas who is 8 and Apollo who is 4. I took pictures of them and cut into Apollo’s pancake.

What do you think my boy did?  Cry, that’s right you heard me right, cry. He did not like that I cut up the Mickey Mouse Pancake.  Oh boy, was I the bad guy or what?  So finally Leao was able to convince him to eat it, but not before the whole restaurant knew his initial reaction.

When you think you know your kids, guess again.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Apollo's visit to the dentist

So I thought I would pick one or two fun photos each week to share with you all.

This week’s photos are from Apollo’s recent trip to the dentist. He always enjoys going to the dentist however this time I suspected would be a little different.  Since he just had his adenoid surgery a week ago, I know the experience was fresh in his mind.  He had a pretty hard time with the anestisia.

Apollo putting his name (on paper tooth) up on the wall

Initially, he did well as the hygentist chatted with him and began counting his teeth. Then she moved on to his cleaning with the electric toothbrush and I could visually see his face change and fear took over. He started to cry and I stood up so he could see me and comforted him while she completed the process. She decided he could wait until next visit for x-rays since this would give him more time to move past the feelings and memories of his surgery.

He became happy when she gave him a new toothbrush, floss, toothpaste and chapstick. He loves chapstick.  At the very end of the session they have a cool process that they write his name on a paper tooth and he can select where on the wall he wants to put it and stick it there.

I am so proud of him, because he really tried to keep it together and we made it through it.  My brave boy!
