What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #193

My overstuffed desk

My overstuffed desk

Hello Everyone!  Phew… we managed to come thru this storm fairly well.  Today was our first day out and about and the boys went back to school.  I posted a few pictures yesterday of the snow.

On to my desk which if you haven’t noticed is tidier than usual.  Oh alright, I consider it “tidier” when I can actually see the white surface.  Which I have to admit is a rare sighting but welcome.

On the left are two new Chinese New Year cards I made and another Valentine card.  My Book Review altered notebook is visible too.  In the middle you can see my latest home decor item. I got reunited with my Martha Stewart glue gun to place flowers on the hearts.  You can see one of my new favorite foam adhesive. It’s black so they are less visible when I use them on projects.  I only wish they came in other thickness because I often like to really pop items off the cards.  On the right the purple cover holds my new Nook HD my sweet husband gave me for Christmas.

This is a brief post but I hope you are all well and I will be able to look at your desks tonight and tomorrow.

If you haven’t learned about this amazing creative journey you can take every Wednesday, then head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Have a blessed day!

The Blizzard of 2013

This is what greeted us at the door after the blizzard.

This is what greeted us at the door after the blizzard.

Well they said we were going to be hit with major snow and high winds and boy were they right.  Friday day wasn’t bad but as we approached night and overnight the snow came down fast and the winds were very strong.  My sister lost power and she just had it restored yesterday! We were blessed in that no trees came down and our power never went off.  The governor issued a driving ban which if you know me, I wasn’t going anywhere if you paid me.  I am a little granny when it comes to driving in the snow.

The boys had a snow day on Friday and Monday due to poor road conditions. So there was major Cabin Fever in our home over the weekend.

The first picture is of what we saw when we first opened our door on Saturday. Where to begin was my first thought.  Oh and yes, I still have my wreath on the front door.

This is what you can see from the side of our deck.

Leao spent over 3 hours clearing the walk ways, front stairs, infront of the garage and the clearing the car in the front driveway. I spent 2 hours shoveling out our back walkway and cleaning both our cars.  Our plow guy didn’t arrive until Sunday and did a great job clearing both driveways.

You can't see my walkway or my retaining wall and my car was covered pretty thick with snow.

I hope all of you affected by the storm fared well.   My boys are back in school today which means I am able to actually get some work done.

Have a blessed day!

A Storm is coming…

My daffodils opened today.

My daffodils opened today.

Well I went to Trader Joe’s yesterday to restock our pantry.  I have been watching the news quite regularly to see what the predictions are of this storm and it sounds like it will be a big one.

There is that side of me that is cynical and thinks they got it wrong. But I think they might have it right and if they do, then it is going to hit us with a lot of snow.

This is how I keep spring in our home throughout winter.

This is how I keep spring in our home throughout winter.

Now I am the first one to grumble along with my friends about the cold and my not so much love for snow but deep down (shhh) I really get a thrill of waiting and witnessing the snow.  It’s beautiful.  It slows us down and lord knows I need some slowing down.  It forces us to appreciate things more and I love when you look at the untouched snow after the storm and it looks like one big blanket covering us all together.  So I  am looking forward to fun with Leao and the boys for a few days…

Then I will resume my not so much love for the snow speech.

If you are in the area please be safe throughout this storm.

Have a blessed day!

Belinda
