Purple Irises in my garden

This is a picture taken in my garden after a rainfall. I love to capture raindrops on my flowers.  It looks amazing and makes me look like a better photographer than I am.

Some of the fun things I received at my training

Hello! I’m back from my two-days of Copic training and certification. Oh it was great. I met so many amazing women. Some owned craft shops and others were artists looking to improve their techniques.  The first day started at 9am and ended at 4:00 and this class focused more on the basics and techniques. The second day started at 9am and ended at 7:30pm and this second class was really more focused on art principles covering such topics as highlights, midtones, shadows, cast shadows, skin and hair. It was a lot to take in but I am hoping to digest it over time. I believe they were both well worth the money.

We received really cool stuff at the classes too. One surprise was a Copic carrying case for 72 markers. I was so happy when I received mine, I think I might have drooled on myself!!

BLT: My oh so delicious dinner on the second night.

Speaking of drool, when the ladies from my table and I went out to eat, we all decided not to eat anything too heavy for dinner since we still had an hour and a half left of class to return to and a drive home. So many of us ordered BLT (A Bacon Lettuce and Tomatoe Sandwich for those who have not been blessed with the experience).  Well we were all floored when we saw this monstrosity placed before each of us. I must say,  I was doing more chewing than complaining about how big it was. Yum.

Marianne and I

Marianne Walker and I after she signed my Copics Intermediate Certificate

Where to begin. Marianne Walker if you don’t know her, you should check out her website Ilikemarkers. She is beyond amazing. Not only is her coloring the top of the line, she draws the most amazing illustrations. We got to look at one of her portfolios and my jaw dropped.  She had a really fun teaching style that kept you engaged even when the material was rather complex.  She walked around a great deal and worked one-on-one with each person to help us correct our mistakes and answer questions. It was great.

Stuff on my desk

Ok so most of the Copic stuff is still occupying my desk but on this corner I have some of my latest bargains from Joann Fabrics store. They sell goodies too. You can see some liquid adhesive, a super cool punch I was inspired to buy after out ATC swap. It punches out really small shapes. Perfert for ATC designs. I also snagged some cute stamps, fabric butterflies and a new Memento ink. Oh and some cute post it’s flags for my new Smash albums.

Well I better get going so that I can start spanning the globe looking at other desks. If you haven’t learned about this amazing creative journey you can take every Wednesday, then head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Have a blessed day!

Fun Photos Friday – #6

Leao and the tree

The Story: My oh so strong husband after pushing down the tree in our yard!

So I did take this picture of Leao and the tree that was being removed from our property. It has been a long time coming and we caught it just in time before the carpenter ants destroyed it more.  Please note the appropriate shoewear that he is wearing while creating this amazing feat.

Arborists and tree

The Truth: It took several arborists and a truck to bring down this tree.

I find that I am facinated at how much knowledge and skill is required to take down a tree without errors. If you look closely you will see the rubber ats they layed down on the grass.  Well as they cut large limbs off of the top of this massive tree, they would push them down and they landed directly on the mat then would roll to the edge and fall to the street where the other arborists would put them in the truck to be cut up.  When they brought down the final tree truck, they moved the truck to the precise angle before he laid into the tree with the chainsaw. It was amazing.

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #157

Hello Everyone!

Wow, that was a cool swap we did last week for the anniversary.  I mailed ATCs to places I have never sent mail before. Very fun. I didn’t visit as many desks as normal and am not sure if it was due to the swap or my crazy schedule.  This week I am actually away from my desk at a Copic Certification class. I am very excited and will share the details next week.

Photoshoot props for Belinda's Crafts

So today’s photo is not my desk. In fact it is my carpeted floor in my craft room. This is where I take photos of the paper products I make for my Etsy store. Let me say first off that this is not a shameless plug to encourage more sales. I just thought it would be a nice switch up from my desk.  The cards you see are my latest products. They are Father’s day cards.

For some time now, I have wanted to open a store on Etsy to sell some of my paper creations. I finally got the courage a few monthes ago and just did it.  Fighting a lot of insecurities along the way I might add. You really put yourself out there when you sell online. But I like the ability to work from home, making things I love. One day, I hope for it to pay for my crafting. Because as you all all know, papercrafting isn’t cheap. All the embellishments, tools, papers just lure you in and before you know it the cashier is saying, “That will be $65.”  And you have to catch your jaw from dropping.

Oh and an update on my washer drama.  Yeah, my new one arrived and I have to say I am on the honeymoon phase with it right now. I am so happy to load it up and push the button and smell fresh clean laundry. After a short time without my dryer (long enough for me), I am feeling so appreciative of it. Let me also say I know from experience this is short lived and I will be back to my usual self – complaining about the piles and the overflowing bins again.  It’s coming. But for now, I will just enjoy the ride.

I hope you all are well and thank you for visiting my blog.  I will be away from my computer until late Friday so have no fear, I will reply to your messages.

Well I better get going so that I can start spanning the globe looking at other desks.
