What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday – #495

Good morning to my crafty WOYWW friends! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Well hello there! It’s so sunny here right now that it is making me happy. It made taking a photo this morning of my somewhat clean desk a joy.  On the right you can see the box ready to go with the custom card order I had been working on for the last few weeks. I am going to mail them off to my client today. Above that box is a container with all my bits I use in my dot journals. You can see some cute Starry lights I found in the dollar spot at target. Not sure what I will do with them yet. Of course, there is a teacup on my desk. Tea is my beverage of choice pretty much all year but especially in the winter. I am trying out a car diffuser for the first time. This year my husband bought me a diffusor and some lovely essential oils and I use it in my craft room. So I can use the same oils in the car. I am thinking of getting a pine scent to keep me in the holiday spirit. Oh, and yes, it’s on right now — Christmas music. I waited until our Thanksgiving holiday ended and then I rushed to put on Holiday music. Right now ‘Santa Baby’ is playing while I type.

The green cardstock is two segments for a 3D Christmas tree advent calendar I am cutting out on my Silhouette.  As I begin to prepare holiday decor for my home, I also supplement it with themed paper crafts.

On the left are Copics, paint brushes, embossing powders and a pile of books and odds and ends. But let’s just rejoice in being able to see some of my actual desktop. haha!! We had a lovely Thanksgiving with my in-laws and on Saturday, my husband took me to see the incredible Former First Lady Michelle speak. I had pre-ordered her memoir and found out she was coming here to speak so he bought tickets. It was such an inspirational talk that I will never forget. I miss our former president and first lady so much. Well, I have to hustle. I am dismissing the boys early for flu shots and I need to wrap up a few things. Have a blessed day my friends.

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #493

Good afternoon or evening for some of you to my crafty WOYWW friends! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

I am soooo late today. I am trying to push through my deadlines as well as keep up with all my errands today so this is the best I can do. I hope some of you haven’t gone to bed yet!

Yes. I am still working on my custom project. Hoping to complete this week and mail out on Monday. I can’t show you the project until it is delivered to my client. So she can be the first. But you can see the card bases cut up, the embossing folder I used, a few sample images I colored up trying to find just the right color combinations.

Thought I would share some other photos today. My dear friend and garden guru gave me these gorgeous garlic bulbs so I can try plant them in my garden. I have never grown garlic before and whenever someone tells me something is easy to grow, I secretly think I am doomed to fail!!

My son helped me clean out one of my beds. Don’t mind all the leaves in my yard. As I type, the landscaper is here to take them all away. Well worth it and my back is forever grateful! Then I had him loosen up the soil for me.

I created my rows and holes and placed them in.

Then we layed our mulch of hay on top. Fingers crossed I get some garlic next summer.

Well I need to go finish some laundry. But yay for leftovers tonight. I just want to crawl under a blanket with a book. But I will save that for tomorrow night when we may get our first bit of snow of the season!

Have a blessed night and I will pop around throughout the rest of the week.

Happy Monday: Beautiful Sunrises and Time Well Spent with Friends

Good morning and happy Monday! This time of year, I get a little cranky because we change our clocks and the days have earlier sunsets. It gets dark so early in the afternoon that I often feel rushed and begin to stress. One thing I notice is that I complain about the same thing every year and of course nothing changes, we change our clocks and so the process begins. But what I somehow forget is that the absolute best sunrises occur this time of year and I can capture them right from the windows in my home. I rise very early each morning for a mini workout before I bring the boys to school. I wake when it’s still dark outside and this morning was no different. I woke up, tidied up the light mess left behind from my kids and unloaded my dishwasher. Then as I walked out towards my living room, I could see this beautiful pink light streaming through the blinds.  So I rushed to the window and opened the blinds and snapped this photo.

My point is, that although I always hate that it is dark by 4:30 every day, I somehow managed to forget the magnificent sunrises. No two are the same and some are more spectacular than others. I always stand there for a bit watching it and being thankful for the blessing to be here to witness it. It’s my first real pause of the day and boy do I cherish it. So perhaps instead of my usual broken record complaining about the earlier darkness, I will remember natures beauty that I get to witness many mornings. This might be the shift I need to go through this season less cranky! This weekend I spent one day with my talented, crafty friends. It has been 4 weeks since our last gathering and longer for some of us. I packed light and only brought a couple coloring books and my colored pencils. I managed to finish a page I started a while back from Kerby Rosanes’ Fantomorphia coloring book. We ate and made each other laugh as usual and one of my dear friends brought me the cutest gift. This very cute bag that has pretty flowers all over it. It’s a great size to tote my coloring book and supplies. On Sunday we took our boys to the mall to do a little shopping. My oldest is getting his first pair of glasses so that was one of our objectives as well as finding a new winter coat for my youngest. My boys hate shopping but because there is rarely a standard size from store to store I bring them on occasion until I know their sizes in particular stores. We had a nice time despite some grumbling later in the day on how tired they were from walking. It’s so funny, I remember loving the opportunity to go to the mall with my mom. Maybe it’s a boy thing. Once home we settled in for some dinner and football.

Well, I’m off but I hope you all have a blessed Monday and please take time to vote tomorrow!
