What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #177

Hello Everyone! I hope everyone is well. Today I started working on making my son’s Halloween exchange. The kids used to be able to exchange Halloween cards and candy but we now have a no food or candy policy at his school. So I often make his cards. This year he is in third grade so I stepped it up a notch and made cool pencil holders.

I found some Halloween paper laying around my craft room to use for a boy design and a girl design.

So I managed to finish making all the components and only need to assemble them now which doesn’t take very long.

I used distress ink for the little labels I punched out of white cardstock to coordinate with the pattern papers.

I always manage to make thing more complex than necessary.

I used purple and green for the girls and orange and black for the boys.

I actually enjoyed making the boxes best.

Building more of the components

I used my Cricut to cut out the perfect size accent for the front of the case.

I finally got some use out of my Cricut that seems to be catching dust lately.

The final cases have two pencils and Nicholas is going to make something to put in each for his classmates.

Finished cases.

Front and back shots of the cases.

Well I am ready for some snooping and that’s just what I’m gonna do!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #176

Hello Everyone,

First and foremost, I felt so much love from all the wonderful posts last week from: Maria, Joynana, Elaine, Lisa, Vickie, Julia, Bernice, Vonny K, Maggie, Deb, Dantiella, Mary Anne, Sandi, Kay, Anna, Tamika, Scrappymo and Kay (505Whimsygirl).

I was so nervous about entering my first contest and when I received all the wonderful warm comments, I felt like I already won.   Thanks for taking the time to look and write such thoughtful comments.

Craft haul from my weekend crop

I had so much fun at my weekend crop with my girlfriends. We spent from 9 in the morning until 9 at night laughing, snacking and working on fun craft stuff. It was at a store so of course I had to look and boy was that a mistake.  They carried three of my favorite brands there one,  which is MFT Die-Namics.  I just can’t get enough of their dies. They are so pretty.  So I bought a crown border, snowflakes, oval stax, jumbo fishtail banner stax, designer label stax and the cutiest icicle border dies.  Then I bought two new MFT stamps one of a little girl with snowballs and the other hugging a snow man.  I justified the insane total expense by saying they were tools that can be used over and over.  (Come on, that’s a good reason right?)

Cute storage I bought at Target.

Another thing I did while walking around the craft store was to get storage idea inspirations and one thing they did that I loved was have wire baskets all over the store with tons of cards in them for you to peruse.  Well I ran out and bought two wire baskets in the dollar section in Target and stuck some of my fall cards in them. In the back are pencils I bought in preparation for my boys’  Halloween exchanges in school. I am going to make something crafty to store the pencils for each child. I will post pictures when I create them.

A wider shot of my desk.

You can see some of my Christmas notecards I have finished and ready to go into my shop and some other images I finished coloring that are ready for use on some cards.  Oh and I made that little box when I was at the crop.  (see I did something) Mr. Huey’s color mist schoolhouse sitting there waiting for me to use it.

Well I am ready for some snooping and that’s just what I’m gonna do!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #175

Hello Everyone! I hope you are all well. I am feeling super happy because on Saturday morning my girlfriends are picking me up and we are going to an all day crop.  Love it!! A day filled with great conversations, loads of laughs and tons of great products at our fingertips (it will be held at a store).  So nothing pretty much should ruin this week while I daydream of the fun.  When you have two little ones around, crops are like little pieces of heaven.

Ok, no desk photo today but I want to share what I have been working on – a card for a card contest. I wouldn’t normally enter, I am more of a watcher. I always read the contests and that voice of mine talks me out of it but my dear friend Ashley pushed me to do it and it was just what I needed to squelch that procrastinator bug I get when I am scared of doing something.

My first card for a card contest.

If you click here you can see more about this card.  That is all I have to share today. Which is probably rather refreshing since I tend to ramble these days.

MFT Guest Designer Contest – October 2012

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a Happy World Card Making day. I spent mine working on my very first contest entry.

The card I am sharing with you today is for the Guest Designer contest at My Favorite Things (MFT) using the MFTGUESTDT1012 sketch.

About a year ago I discovered the Pure Innnocence collection of My Favorite Things stamps at my LSS.  The quality of the impression was important for my coloring and the price was great. I purchased my first stamp and used my Copics to color the girl with brown skin. I loved the result and how easy I could paper pierce or color them.  My crafting girlfriends liked the way I changed her ethnicity with color.  I was hooked from that day forward.

This is my entry for the MFT Guest Designer Contest.

Isn’t she so cute set among the leaves?

I love using this Die-Namic because it is the perfect size for all of my cards and the edges are so elegant.  I paper pierced the little girl’s shirt and colored her and her pants with my Copics.  I used dimensional adhesive to raise the wagon for a 3D effect.  The Jillibean Soup label was just begging to be used with this stamp  so I kindly obliged. Twine was my go to instead of ribbon to compliment the theme. I just had to use the blossom gem since it echoed the blossoms in her shirt and who could resist a little bling?

I put the pop dots to make the wagon 3D

If have not visited MFT before, you should take a look because they sell a variety of fun products for all your crafting needs at great values.
