What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #169

Hello Everyone,

I took a week off due to inactivity and or pure laziness to photograph anything of interest.

Cutting cake with dad.

Well I took a picture of my desk today (a day early because I don’t think I will have time to do it on Wednesday).  First of all today is my youngest’s birthday. He turned 5 today. How the time seems to fly by so fast.  I remember his birth and all the in-betweens like they were yesterday and yet I can’t imagine him being 5 years old.  So first I must start off with one of him. As often happens, I take all the photos and I am not in one. I think the only one I found, was extremely blurry.  So this is him and his dad.

Some things a brewin’ on my desk.

On to my desk, well my mother-in-law’s birthday is this Saturday so I put together a card for her. So that is what you see in the middle of the desk.  I colored her with my Copic and used a border punch, pop dots and there you have it.

Birthday card for my mother-in-law.

On the left of my desk, you will see my ATG gun, some Spellbinders tucked under there and some new stamps  (a close up to follow), old photo of my mom and two of her brothers.  In the top middle, is some work in progress tags I am creating with stamps and distress inks. I cut up a bunch so I can crank them out to sell in my shop.  An old Halloween stamp is hiding underneath the ink blender. There is also some new Halloween embellishments from K and Company.  I plan on using them on some Halloween cards.

I have been more productive this week working on personal and work projects which is refreshing despite the fact that it is Back to School rush.

I also wanted to share some great finds I recently acquired at my LSS.  These stamps are so gorgeous and I had looked at them in the past and whined about the high price and then what do you know but they are on the clearance table for %40 off. A girl has to do what a girl has to do and I snatched them at the great new low price. I haven’t gotten to use them since I only had them a week but have big plans for them and look forward to coloring them.

My lastest goodies!

Well I better get going so that I can start spanning the globe looking at other desks. If you haven’t learned about this amazing creative journey you can take every Wednesday, then head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Have a blessed day!

Glitter, Glitter and more Glitter

My first glitter purchase

Okay, I have a confession…I am a crafter that doesn’t like glitter. I don’t know where it began but I have an aversion to it. I am the parent that sneaks after the boys go to bed and toss their latest school creation with loads of glitter into the trash under some other stuff so that I am not found out.  I even cringe when the holidays roll around because I am convinced it is a requirement for teachers to use glitter on almost every project for three months straight.

Why don’t I like it you ask? Well it’s messy. I can’t get rid of it in my car when I transport these lovelies home and they get on my clothes and skin for days after I have discarded them.  Over the last few years, I have found glitter glue my new friend. I like that it pretty much stays put.  No worries.

Well who said I can’t change? I came across the most beautiful autumnal cards that featured beautiful stamps that where colored and then enhanced with glitter. I touched the display and found not much on my finger. So I openned up to the possibility as I talked with my crafter friends while at a crop. They told me the glitter glue is pretty but not as sparklie as real glitter.

So I took the plunge and bought some glitter today. Oh and I couldn’t resist the little Halloween dog stamp.  I have not opened the glitter up to try them yet. I feel like a cat that doesn’t like water. I am hesitant to open even one jar for fear that I will forever be covered in glitter.  But I shall perservere.

So here are the glitters. I will post my first sparkalicious sparkalicious (yup I made that word up) creation once I complete it.  And who said you can’t teach a old (using the word gently) crafter new tricks?

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday – #167

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are having a great day. Well I have started the journey of cleaning my craft room so I am sure you all can relate to that mixed feelings the process always brings up. I am looking forward to finding things better and a tidy place but I am definately guilty of hanging onto to things for way to long.  So I tend to have a hard time purging. I feel I will be forever cleaning this room as long as there is something out there to be bought!

Some resist images I created today!

On my desk I have been playing around with different stamping techniques and today I can’t get enough of the ink resist.  I keep on pulling out more stamps to see how they will look. I found some old Martha Stewart Halloween stamps and just couldn’t stop playing. I am thinking some Halloween cards are in order.

Making fun accents with resist ink technique.

I love the distress ink colors I used. The orange and blue are so vibrant, they make me smile everytime I walk by the desk and see them.   Um… yup, I didn’t put anything away after taking these photos. Some habits take a long time to break.

Well a short post for me today. I feel like snooping so off I go.  Thank you for checking in and I will see you next week.

Well I better get going so that I can start spanning the globe looking at other desks.
