What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #587

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends! It’s Wednesday and you know what time it is. Time to snoop. For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

I am running late. This morning we went to the track and then I did some strength training so I am late to write my post. It’s a dreary day and rain is on the horizon which is fine for me because I won’t have to water the garden.

before

Above is my left cabinet above my desk. I have two above my desk and they are quite messy (I know, an understatement!). Since I plan to reopen my Etsy shop, I want to make the process as seamless a possible so I cleared out all the mess.

after

Now you I can access my inventory quickly. I used to put these in my craft closet. But that never seems to stay clean for long. You know how doors lead to messes. So now I can keep all my inventory in a clean and easy to access location. I am so thrilled. I will work on the other cabinet as soon as I figure out what I want to put in it.

Birthday celebrations

Last Friday, was my youngest son’s birthday. I am now officially a parent of two teenagers. 😀 He is very knowledgeable in the area of computers and wants to build his own gaming PC. So he saved money and took his birthday money to go to a computer supply store to buy some of the components. He also ordered some online so when he completes it, I will be sure to share his final build.

Peeks in my garden.

I am just crazy about these tall Asters. So one more picture and also a peek at my knockout roses. Things are blooming quite lovely this late in the season.

My newest teapot.

My husband bought me this new teapot to add to my collection so I immediately put it to use. The teacup is old and although pretty, not practical because it doesn’t hold the heat and you burn your fingers.

Butterfly in flight.

I captured this butterfly in flight after they visited my Zinnias. They look like I photoshopped it into the photo.

My new craft toy.

After I complained about my hands after using my Cuttlebug, I finally caved and bought myself this new electronic Sizzix Pro. No more handle for me. I emboss and diecut for my business a lot so this tool makes sense. I can’t wait to give it a try.

This week’s harvest.

Thought I would leave you with this weeks harvest. And my melon is growning quite lovely.

I hope you all are well and I can’t wait to snoop.

My desk today has some remnants from my Saturday Zoom Craft session. I worked on two things – cardmaking and scrapbooking. On my desk you will see my Copics I used to color some of the mermaid for my card. Do you remember that card background I made a few weeks ago with the circular tool to make bubbles. Well this is the card that I made using it. I made a variety of sentiments bubbles to add to the cards. You can also see my laptop has a new keyboard cover. I bought it thinking it would be fun to spruce up things while also making it easier during these Covid-19 times, to take off and clean regularly. I bought the turquoise ombre to go with the cool cover I showed you a few weeks ago.

Above, I was working on my OLW scrapbook. I am a little behind so I was working on the July prompt. I made my own cards instead of purchasing the available stamps. (See, I can exercise some restraint!) I printed some photos to go and just need to finish the journaling and then on to August quickly before September arrives.

I liked the cards I made so much that I decided to place it prominently on my desk to keep my mojo on high. I am one of those people that perfection can be paralyzing so I love seeing this visual reminder.

Our deal is that on Saturday’s I take a break from mom duties to spend the day and into the evening zoom crafting with my friends. So it was a pleasant surprise last Saturday when my husband went out and bought sushi for dinner. We ate it on the deck with a glass of wine.

Last week I had this lovely visitor. I always like to think that loved ones who has passed greet us through nature. So I think my mum was checking up on my garden when I saw this beautiful dragonfly.

Could someone tell me to stop shopping? I saw these amazing stencils and just had to have them. I want to use them with my distress oxide and then I would like to use them with my new Gel printing plate. I can see great opportunities to use both. If that isn’t enough, you can see the new stamps that arrived yesterday here.

I leave you with nature. I came home from shopping the other day to find several butterflies enjoying those tall Zinnias I showed you a week ago. They must really like them because they didn’t fly away while I snapped photo after photo. I am so happy because I did not see as many Monarch butterflies, as usual, this year. I can’t wait to catch up with you ladies. I hope your week was a good one.

Happy Mail: New Stamps

Latest stamp order.

Hello! I have been ordering new supplies and products like a madwoman lately. Today one of my orders arrived with some wonderful stamps and a coordinating die.

The top one made me think of fall so I am thinking of some autumnal cards. I also think I can use the sentiments, leaf and pumpkin will be good to use in my bullet journals.

The next stamp is called Lotus lady and I thought she would be good for the some of the spiritual cards I would like to offer.

Underneath the Lotus Lady is a wonderful floral stamp with a large sentiment in the middle. These are cool stamps because they cover the entire cardfront and I can color them in different colors. They also included extra flowers so I can make it more dimensional. I am so excited to work with this one.

The bottom stamp is so cool. It is a 4-season window scene. I bougtht the matching dies because my fussing cutting days are over whenever possible. I look forward to using it this fall to make a cute fall scene.

I can’t wait to ink these babies up!!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #585

Wow, I know I say this often but it seems like yesterday was Wednesday. It went so fast, I did not get to visit many desks this past week. Thank you to all that left your comments. I’m running late on my post because today was one of our track days with the boys and I had to shower before I sit to snoop! Above is my desk on Sunday, after my all-day craft session on Zoom. We stayed on until 8:30 pm! It was great fun.

Princess Tiana wanted to be featured in my post so I told her I would take her picture to share. My sweet friend, Joan, bought her for me from Disney World. She watches over all of my creative happenings.

Above is a photo of the sentiments I stamped out for the cardbases I assembled. I cut up paper and just turned the paper to get the images on the bottom half of the sheet. The MISTI is all about mass production and this tool is great.

I just kept pulling out sentiments and stamped up sheets to be cut for use on the cards.

At the end of the session, I had cut and scored to make this stack of card bases and then glued the pattern paper on them. It’s so satisfying to see a stack of cards.

A peek in my garden this week. Phlox and ferns. I need more ferns, they make me happy. I love their delicate fronds and the way they move in the breeze. The Phlox just makes me happy. If you look closely you can see a variegated Phlox my neighbor gave me from her garden before she moved. I love seeing it come back each year. A plant is a very special gift to a give.

Yesterday I was sitting on my deck steps and Mr. Bee zoomed past me to do his business. So I decided to take his picture.

New editions to the annual garden were these tall asters. They needed staking but the color is so vibrant they almost look fake.

The picture above is a mixture of perennials and annuals. I usually overshop for plants in late spring and when I can’t find places for purchases, I tend to stick them in here. So it’s fun to see what evolves.

Above are some pots I placed infront of my husband’s home office. I planted them from seeds from my father-in-law. He doesn’t know the name but I saw the in his garden last year and had to have them. I know they are called Four o’clocks because of their flower and behavior. They tend to open in the late afternoon into the evening and then close when it gets warm the next day. At the end of the season, it is so easy to collect the seeds for more plants.

Above my husband caught me writing in my journal last Friday. The temperature was nice and I like to write outside whenever I can.

I included the picture above because on Monday, I was working and then sat back in my chair and the view of all the productivity on my desk brought me great joy. I love when that happens.

And finally I completed three card collections from some of the items you saw earlier. When I re-open I will continue to sell single cards and I will also be offering card collections that contain between 3 – 5 cards. I wanted to open first thing in September but I am still building inventory and will have to schedule times to photograph everything so I am going to push to try to launch the end of September. Fingers crossed!
