What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #546

on my desk…

Hello crafty ladies! I’m so late and for a very good reason. My glasses broke and the lense popped out. I glued it with trusty craft glue… who says my craft supplies are useful? So I had to rush down the highway to pick out some new frames. And of course it happens on an early release day! I took forever because I have had these frames for about 2-3 years and really love how unique they are but time was not on my side so I picked the best option with the time constraints. Hopefully they will arrive before our Thanksgiving break. Or I will have to arrive with my glued masterpiece!

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Anyhow enough about why I’m late. Let’s look at my desk and the happenings in my craft room. I scored on some lovely craft paper packs at Michaels for a riduculously low price so I thought I would make some holiday cards with the paper.

Left side of my desk.

On the left is my work bullet journal. In the middle is the beginnings of the cards I am making. More photos to come.

Right side of my desk.

On the right is some lovely diecut trees I cut on my Silhouette and will be using them on a card. Also my cards from last week. I still haven’t tested the black watercolor paper. The book is a pre-order that arrived a few days ago. It’s a fantasy novel. The cover is absolutely gorgeous.

I have a really understanding family because I tend to spread out my stuff all over my desk and the floors when I get inspired. (There is truly enough space for us crafters right?) And these paper pads were just what I needed last night to get my craft mojo going. So I selected a few pages from each pad that really jumped out at me and then searched my stash for coordinating cardstock.

Spread out all over the floor.

Then I raided my Silhouette cut files for just the right sentiment. This ‘Joy to the World’ was really pretty. I like that this paper pack is non-traditional colors. I cut some A6 cards go with the envelopes I already own.

Prepping for my assembly process.

I cut out the card front from the pretty papers in preparation for my assembly line.

Finished card.

The color isn’t truly captured by my camera. But it’s very pretty in person and the gold stripes in the plaid are so lovely.

I’m finally on my way to getting my holiday cards made. I will share more as I complete them. I have to catch up with work but will spend the next few days snooping around your desks.f

Happy crafting!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #545

on my desk…

Hello crafty ladies! The time keeps on flying by and I can’t even keep track of what day it is. But I do know one thing, today is Wednesday and it’s that time again! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

I went to a craft day with my girlfriends on Saturday. I was there from 10am to 9pm and it was so much fun. The theme for the food was “It’s a Small World” like the ride at Disney. The theme was up for interpretation so I decided to make a crockpot Morroccan chicken dish and also some couscous. Everyone brought yummy food and I managed to get a little done. It’s funny how I think I will do more than I actually do. It’s just so much fun getting together and catching up and of course eating. So I wasn’t the most productive but anything is something right?

On my desk this morning, you can see some Christmas cards I made. I used my Finetec watercolor paints. They are so beautiful and I have been looking for more opportunities to use them. I saw this idea online where the person used another watercolor and knew it would be a great one to try my paints on.

Unfortunately the camera didn’t even come close to capturing hte pearlescent colors. They are metallic and sparklie and the contrast on the black is so cool. The problem was that I ordered black watercolor paper and it didn’t arrive in time for me to take on my craft day. So I used plain black cardstock. It came out pretty good with a little warping so I can’t wait to try it with the watercolor paper.

Black watercolor paper.

Above is the paper. It came two days later. So I will try it again with this paper. But definitely will use them for my holiday card giving.

The snowflake dies I used.

These snowflake dies are new. I also used one I already owned. I used white cardstock but I have a frosted white cardstock I am going to use on my next go around.

Finds from my craft closet.

Above I found these items while in my crazy craft closet the other day. I bet there is so much more goodies when I finally clean it!

New purchase.

Check out these pretty embossing borders I bought the other day. I think they would look pretty on my Christmas card envelopes. Can’t wait to try them.

Well I better go so I can make my rounds. My boys get out early today so I will have to extend my visits over the next few days.

Happy crafting!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #544

on my desk…

Hello crafty ladies! It’s that time again! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

Right side of my desk.

First off, I have to confess that these photos were taken last night. I knew today I wouldn’t have much time and I knew my desk wasn’t going to change in the morning. So pardon the lighting.

Anyway, on with the snoop…On the right side of my desk is a non-fiction book I am reading for Non-fiction November. I have several other books lined up to read this month. I am thoroughly enjoying this one so far. It is called, “Diamond Doris” and it is about Doris Payne, the true story of the world’s most notorious jewel thief! Now, I never heard about her but then perhaps I am not in the know when it comes to jewelry thiefs! I first saw this book on Hoopla and immediately put the physical book on hold at my library. The three things that really fascinate me and made me pick up this book is that this thief is a female, she is black and she is still alive and I don’t believe in jail! I just have to hear this story!

Sorry the book nerd took over for a minute. Back to my desk, there is also a list I wrote of the remaining Dewert Inktense and Prismacolor pencils I need to get to complete each set. I have slowly been collecting them. Once I knew I enjoyed using them, I began the process of getting them at the best prices online. You can also see my new Nuvo spatulas I purchased for my paste. I will show you next week what I plan on doing with them on some holiday cards. You can also see my laptop in the purple sleeve.

WIP that I am really enjoying coloring.

In the center you can see what’s been distracting me from making my holiday cards! I am really enjoying coloring in this coloring book and can’t wait to finish this one. I am using my Prismacolors on this page.

Left-side of my desk.

Look at this clutter fest!! Piles of projects, pencils I was using on the coloring book, new snowflake dies for some holiday cards. the little white houses, I plan on creating cute winter scenes inside them. I am going to an all-day craft time with my girlfriends on Saturday so I plan to work on these as well as some holiday cards.

A girl has to have what she has to have.

I have been on a purple kick in the craft room and I thought why not some new nail polish. I mean, a girl has to have what she has to have! I plan on painting them with these lovelies later this week. The colors incase you are interested are Sally Hanson’s Purplexed and OPI’s Do You Lilac It? I love nail polish names. They are so funny. The picture isn’t doing them justice but they are so pretty in person. I can’t wait to see what they look like. I will paint the OPI on all except both ring fingers and then paint Purplexed on the ring fingers.

I managed to make all my rounds last week so let’s see if I can do it again. Have a wonderful day ladies!!
