Confessions of a Scrapbook Kit Hoarder…#5

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to my new blog series, “Confessions of a Scrapbook Kit Hoarder“. If you haven’t already, please read The Intervention so you can understand the inspiration for this craft project.

My second card from the September kit

My second card from the September kit

Today I wanted to share my second card I made using the September kit. I used one of my stamps from Flourishes.  I love Flourishes stamps. They are so elegant and fun to color. I also used one of my cute border dies that shhh I have had for a year and hadn’t cracked the seal!! So I am now seeing the benefits of this challenge in other ares of my stash.  Great news for me.

I will be back on Monday with another project and hopefully a wrap up of my September kit so I can start planning and work on the October kit… No pressure right?

Have a fabulous weekend and keep crafting!!

Belinda’s Book Nook Review: The Last Camelia

The Last Camellia by Sarah Jio

The Last Camellia by Sarah Jio

A romantic and suspenseful tale about two women whose destiny is bound across the years

On the eve of World War II, the last surviving specimen of a camellia plant known as the Middlebury Pink lies secreted away on an English country estate. Flora, an amateur American botanist, is contracted by an international ring of flower thieves to infiltrate the household and acquire the coveted bloom. Her search is at once brightened by new love and threatened by her discovery of a series of ghastly crimes.

More than half a century later, garden designer Addison takes up residence at the manor, now owned by the family of her husband, Rex. The couple’s shared passion for mysteries is fueled by the enchanting camellia orchard and an old gardener’s notebook. Yet its pages hint at dark acts ingeniously concealed. If the danger that Flora once faced remains very much alive, will Addison share her fate

I picked up this book in a Chatham Massachusetts bookstore while on my Anniversary Escape with Leao.  First drawn to the cover (What can I say?I love beautiful books.)  and read the back cover and knew it needed to be added to my book collection.

I found this book so easy to slide right into. The story draws you in going back in time first with very vivid details. And then delivering you to the present every other chapter. This never was a nuisance it actually made me want to keep reading and guessing what happened. I love gardening and was fascinated by the concept of story line around the Camellia flower. I  truly enjoyed the descriptions of the garden in the book.

This was my first book by Sarah Jio and I will definitely be looking for another of her novels to read.

Happy reading!

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #228

Hello Everyone!  I hope you all are feeling happy today. If not for any other reason then the fact we get to snoop! I am feeling very happy because I am keeping my promise I made on my new blog series, Confessions of a Scrapbook Kit Hoarder and have been creating cards and my first scrapbook LO in a long time. So if you have time to snoop, please feel free to check it out and push me. My friends, April Daqa, and Ria have given me a a nudge or two. (Thanks ladies, it has been very helpful receiving your encouragement.)

Current card I am working on for my Etsy shop.

On to my desk today.  Well I am working on another card and the photo back there is for another LO I will be working on soon.  Tucked next to my lamp is a few cards, one  birthday card I just entered into a card challenge. I am working on the card you see on the desk for my Etsy shop.

As you can see I still haven’t bought another Copics case for my overflow of markers. I filled the first bag quite some time ago and store the excess in these clear compartments. I am waiting for the price to go down before I make the commitment. I received my first case when I received my Copics training so I don’t feel like paying for the second myself. Don’t want to cut into my crafting budget for a storage bag. So I suffer with the inconvenience when I want to move to another room or go to crop.  Enough of my whining…

If you haven’t learned about this amazing creative journey you can take every Wednesday, then head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Have a blessed day!

‘Something Sweet’ Challenge at Mo’s Digital Pencil

Hello everyone,

It has been a long time since I have submitted any entries for challenges. But this one was to “sweet” to pass on.  (I know, comedy isn’t my thing!)

This image is so cute and really fun to color.

I have been a customer of Mo Mannings’ digital stamps for some time now and I love the beautiful diversity in her images.  I own many and when this challenge presented itself I was thrilled because I just needed to pull up this image I already owned. (Yes, I have been known to buy images to enter challenges. Go ahead, shake your head.)

Had fun putting the detail on this image.

I made a birthday card with this image and used pop dots to add dimension to the case. I also added rhinestones to her crown and sparkle to her cake and candles.

Here is the inside of the card,

I am going to go visit the others now. Thanks for taking a look.

Have a blessed day!
