What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday #578

on my desk…

Hello, my crafty friends! It’s Wednesday and I am am a bit late but you know what time it is. Time to snoop. For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

On my desk today is my lovely new laptop case on the left. You can’t see how beautiful the colors are but trust me, they are even prettier in person. It comes with a felt sleeve but why would I want to hide that gorgeous cover? In the middle is one of the new coloring books I showed you last week. On the right is a new adhesive purchase. It is called Sticky Specks and it is suppose to be fantastic and reusable. One of my clever crafty girlfriend recommended it to me. Next to it is the package for children’s masks. We have been using disposable masks so my husband picked up these for my boys to add to the rotation. I kept the package to add to my scrapbook.

I cracked open the new color-by-number coloring book I showed you last week. I swatched my Prismacolor pencils to use inside. I think I will swatch my polychromos so that I can have options and see which one lays down best. It is even more relaxing having someone else decide the color palette.

Can you guess what is happening in this garden photo? Let’s just say I have really annoying squirrels in my yard that love to dig in my pots. I came up with the idea to give my seeds a chance by cutting up screen fabric and using a bungee cord to cover them. Once the seeds peeked out and almost touched the screen I removed it as you can see on the right. I am still not fully in the clear because they love to rummage around flowers so I am keeping my fingers crossed they will leave them alone.

For my weekly zoom craft day with friends I began by swatching this amazing Kuretake paint set that I have owned for (shhh) amount of years. Then I set to work painting some card bases since I knew they would need time to dry before I stamped on them.

I even used my paint palette to mix my colors. It’s so easy to clean.

While they dried I heat embossed some cute images from my new stamp set on black cardstock. Above is all the cards I made during the session. I was quite pleased with them when finished.

This is a close up at the watercolor cards. I am totally going to make more of these. An added bonus is that I think this stamp set makes lovely masculine cards. It’s always hard for me to create masculine cards. Especially since I love floral stamps. The texture is so great on the paper. The one on the far left I colored with Copic markers. That was fun too. So many options with these stamps.

I went bling crazy on this design. But I couldn’t resist because they matched so perfectly. I did create a few without for those who don’t want all the shiny goodness! It was such a productive session filled with a lot of laughter. We will not meet for two weeks because we have July 4th holiday weekend so I will be going solo until then.

June 30, 2001

Yesterday was our 19th wedding anniversary. I took pictures from our album to share. It was a wonderful time. I can’t believe it was that long ago that I got to marry the love of my life. Unfortunately we have a pandemic this year but I hope to really celebrate on our 20th anniversary.

When people tell me I have long hair now I laugh because it’s short compared to those days. Well enough reminiscing, it’s time for snooping!

I hope you all are well.

Belinda

  1. Wow, you were a really beautiful bride!! Happy Anniversary to you both, may there be many more. The lighthouse is interesting in the photo, where is that? I’ve got a soft spot for lighthouses as we have a small but sweet one here in my hometown. You’ve done some lovely crafting, those cards are fantastic!

  5. Hi Belinda. Congratulations to you both on 19 years. You make a very handsome couple!! Lovely wedding photos. Funky cover on the laptop – why indeed should you want to cover that up!! I love those cards – the watercolour backgrounds work really well with the stamps.
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

  6. Hi Belinda, happy anniversary to you both. The photographs are gorgeous. Now squirrels are a different matter and they eat my fruit but we netted the cherry tree this year and they have been delicious. Looks like you’ve had plenty to do this week, all that colouring and what a collection of cards. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x20x

Hi Belinda happy anniversary to you both, and yes – you certainly did have long hair! I do like the stamp set you have used, and agree it will work well for male cards. You’ve made a lovely selection of cards. Great solution for keeping the squirrels of your seedlings – we have grey squirrels in our garden, but they don’t really bother with the fruit trees, and my vegetable plot is empty at the moment- waiting for me to get some gardening inspiration! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Once pay day comes around again, I will be investing in 1 or 2 D ring scrapbooks. Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx #16

  8. Oh wow, Belinda, how beautiful are you??!!! Your wedding photos are just super-stunning, and what an absolutely gorgeous dress too! I love its simple lines, and it shows your stunning figure off to perfection! You both look so happy. Happy anniversary to you both! W celebrated our 34th in May. Doesn’t the time just fly by? Your animal cards are really cute, and I love the beautiful backgrounds you’ve created for them. I love making colour swatches too, and did one for my new Tombow pens recently. It really helps, because the lids aren’t an accurate match to the actual colour. That was a great idea to protect your seeds. I hope the squirrels leave them alone now! I love your laptop cover too – really pretty. So many lovely things to look at in your post this week!

Thank you for visiting my blog, and for your very kind words! So glad you like my finished UFOs. If it wasn’t for Julia’s challenge, no doubt they would have remained in a box in the studio for another 25 years!! I agree that it’s great how much can be achieved over the phone for medical appointments. Before last week’s one, I wasn’t sure f it was going to be any good but it was brilliant. I am looking forward to tomorrow’s one – I’ve forwarded her my bladder diary in advance so she’s got a chance to look at it before we speak. I do feel optimistic that she can help me. Not a whisper on my upcoming operation, of course – I can’t see anything happening before next year now. Things just go on and on but I don’t allow myself to get despondent and try and live my life as best I can and be positive and enjoy it! I think you are very wise to stay at home and not go in until things are a lot better on the virus front – no point putting yourself at unnecessary risk, is there. Whatever your health problems may be, I hope they are manageable and that you don’t suffer too much. Take care of yourself!

    Happy WOYWW,

    • Hi Shoshi! Looks like the squirrels are staying out of my pots. But I know I’m not out of the clear yet.
My upcoming appointment is just an annual physical that’s why I don’t feel the need to risk going in. I am well so no sense risking catching something. The sun finally came out so I’m enjoying time on my deck today. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Anniversary – love the wedding photos!

I really love the giraffe card with the tones of yellow and orange behind it. Lots of lovely cards there.

    I think I need a paint palette!

    Happy woyww!

Lovely cards and use of watercolour. Congrats on the wedding anniversary, looks like a few woyww are celebrating this week. Have a lovely craft week.

  11. I love your wedding dress! And yes your hair is very long there. People are often shocked at how long my hair is because I always have it tucked up in a knot so people don’t see it. I loved your safari style cards too – that black really pops against those backgrounds. Have a lovely week, Lisa-Jane #15

  12. I really hope your 20th Anniversary will be a much brighter one with many celebrations to come. Happy belated special day to you both.
It looks like you have been having lots of fun, sharing crafty times on zoom, I am guilty of many resources untouched for years but at least your paints will stay good for a while until many wet paints which dry up over time.
That stamp set will indeed be great for masculine cards.. I love the added bling..
    Happy WoywW
