What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday – #545

on my desk…

Hello crafty ladies! The time keeps on flying by and I can’t even keep track of what day it is. But I do know one thing, today is Wednesday and it’s that time again! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.

I went to a craft day with my girlfriends on Saturday. I was there from 10am to 9pm and it was so much fun. The theme for the food was “It’s a Small World” like the ride at Disney. The theme was up for interpretation so I decided to make a crockpot Morroccan chicken dish and also some couscous. Everyone brought yummy food and I managed to get a little done. It’s funny how I think I will do more than I actually do. It’s just so much fun getting together and catching up and of course eating. So I wasn’t the most productive but anything is something right?

On my desk this morning, you can see some Christmas cards I made. I used my Finetec watercolor paints. They are so beautiful and I have been looking for more opportunities to use them. I saw this idea online where the person used another watercolor and knew it would be a great one to try my paints on.

Unfortunately the camera didn’t even come close to capturing hte pearlescent colors. They are metallic and sparklie and the contrast on the black is so cool. The problem was that I ordered black watercolor paper and it didn’t arrive in time for me to take on my craft day. So I used plain black cardstock. It came out pretty good with a little warping so I can’t wait to try it with the watercolor paper.

Black watercolor paper.

Above is the paper. It came two days later. So I will try it again with this paper. But definitely will use them for my holiday card giving.

The snowflake dies I used.

These snowflake dies are new. I also used one I already owned. I used white cardstock but I have a frosted white cardstock I am going to use on my next go around.

Finds from my craft closet.

Above I found these items while in my crazy craft closet the other day. I bet there is so much more goodies when I finally clean it!

New purchase.

Check out these pretty embossing borders I bought the other day. I think they would look pretty on my Christmas card envelopes. Can’t wait to try them.

Well I better go so I can make my rounds. My boys get out early today so I will have to extend my visits over the next few days.

Happy crafting!

Belinda

  1. That’s so effective Belinda, love the idea of glittery watercolours on black/dark card. Those snowflakes make great embellishments.
Your crafty get together sounded marvellous, with homemade food as well. I’m amazed you got anything made, i’d have been nattering all day long.
Thanks for sharing, happy WoywW Tracey #5

  3. Hi Belinda. Those cards are just great – well done, a good idea there. Hope the water colour paper ones turn out just as good.

  6. I love to see mica colours on black they just shine so much but I’ve used Oxide inks too and they work well. Great dies too and I suspect you’re not the only one with stash just waiting to be found and reused. Sending you hugs and happy belated WOYWW, Angela x16x

  7. I never get much done either when I go to a crop Belinda. Much more fun to catch up and chat (and eat). Love the Christmas cards. Cool idea. Happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #1

  8. Hello, thank you for the sympathy on my blog the other week. No date for the funeral yet, so we feel a little in limbo at the moment. I didn’t know you could get black watercolour paper. I always think I will do more than I actually do when I take my crafting stuff with me. It is a shame the camer didn’t pick up the colour properly, it is annoying when that happens. It sounds really good though. I hunk I would like to try that xx Angela
