on my desk…
Hello friends! It’s that time again! For those of you that aren’t familiar with WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday), head on over to Julia’s Stamping Ground and you will find desks from all around the world where we get to snoop on other crafter’s desks.
Tool time over here! I have kind of fallen behind on the craft tools out there and while shopping at Michael’s with my son looking for supplies for his science project for school, I happened across the papercrafting aisle (ok, I purposely took a walk there!) and saw this beauty. I have quite a collection of WRMemory Keepers tools. I am facinated in the genious it takes to create these affordable tools that really increase productivity and are a lot of fun once you learn their tricks. So when I saw this Pocket Punch Board, I knew I had to buy it. It has so many uses. It can be used in a card as an accent or gift card holder, it could be used on scrapbook pages to hold additional journaling and more. So I used my 40% off coupon and got if for cheap. So this morning is the first day I got to play around with it.
I have to admit, I am lousy with instructions so I found a quick tutorial on YouTube and then I was off and running. The tool comes with everything you need to create different size pockets. It has the cutting, scoring and embossing tool as well as a handy guide to tell you paper sizes to make different sized pockets.
I even made one that could hold my bookmarks I make. I like how the top peeks out so you can see the bookmark.
The funny thing was I spent more time picking different papers to test out this new tool on.
I am going to definitely make more for the bookmarks. The cool thing is that you can embellish them or simply use patterned paper.
I have to tell my friend Ashley if she doesn’t already own it because it would be great to make valentines for her daughter. My boys are past the age of valentines exchanges at school but they would be perfect for that.
It has the option to create a pocket with a flap or with a top notch. I loved both.
Other happening on my desk. I created a bunch of accents to use on cards with my Nuvo drops. I can just pull them off and adhere them to a card. I just love looking at them all like that. I ordered a pretty red for Christmas time that should arrive this week.
They aren’t exactly the same as enamel dots but so close and I can make as much as I want. So I am really enjoying using them. It was so relaxing making this sheet of drops. Almost like the feeling I have when I color.
One last thing, I thought I would share a great tip, if you do own or buy this fun tool. It’s quite easy to lose your place when you are using the guide so I came up with a great solution. I used a post-it. I place it on the line I want to focus on. The first set of numbers are the final size of the pocket, the second column has the letter and number to set the guides, the third column is the size if you want a flap and the final column is the size paper you need for a cut-out notch at the top. After I finished a pocket I would write down the info on the post-it and then stick it to the back of the pocket so I would know in case I wanted to reproduce it.
I am so tired today. Last night we took my youngest to see an event called the Scribble Showdown where he got to see a group of his favorite graphic animators from YouTube participate in a friendly drawing competition. It was very interactive and he had a blast. My photo is rubbish but I did snap a few anyway. But we got home so late and this girl, need her beauty rest. Ha Ha. So I make no promises to visit all today but I will make visits over the course of the next few days.
Have a blessed day my friends!
