My word for 2014 is listen. I am taking the One Little Word workshop for I believe the third year. It’s a great online workshop that encourages you to pick a word for the year and each month she provides you with prompts to help keep the word present in your life. I have enjoyed it in past years and this year I am truly looking forward to it.
I didn’t go looking for the word this year. It came to me after watching Oprah’s Soul Series. It was the episode with Mark Nepo and he was talking about his new book, “Seven Thousand Ways to Listen: Staying Close to What is Sacred”. After watching the show and reading the first few pages of this book, I knew ‘listen’ had to be my word this year. I never had this happen before. I usually brainstorm words and look at other’s for inspiration but this year, I was open and it came.
I hope the focus on this word will help me:
Listen to my body – Listening to when my body is full and stop eating. Listen to how I feel with food to make sure that I feed it only healthy foods.
Listen to my boys and husband – When my they come to me, I will bring all of me to the experience and listen with all of me. No texting, no computer, I must stop and take it all in and be present.
Listen to my desires – Listening to my desire to move my craft business to the next level. Listening to my desire to immerse myself into my genealogy research and my fascination with this discipline.
Listen to the sacred – Listen to my strong need to deepen my faith and spiritual practices. Help me bring my spirituality to the forefront of my life.
Listen to my heart – Listen to my heart as it pulls me toward truly engaging in charitable giving and connecting with those in need.
What a great word. And a great idea. We could all take the time and listen. I can’t wait to see what you are able to accomplish this year. I think it is going to be great.

Listen to your friends and join us scrapping every Wednesday! 🙂
Yes indeed…yes indeed.
I smiled when I read this blog. What a great inner self you have and it comes out when you are around us.
Oh thank you Cathy! I am happy to see you are back from your travelling adventures and look forward to catching up. This snowstorm might prevent me from going to crop on Wednesday.
