Yay an excuse to read! Today is Read an Ebook Day! I have been giving my Kindle the cold shoulder lately so I think it’s time we get re-acquainted. Today’s weather could not be more perfect to get lost in a book. It’s cloudy and on and off downpours. So I will be taking 2 hours out of my work day today to do a bit of reading. I have everything set up to go. I will be putting Chai tea in the teapot you see in the photo so I can cozy up with my blanket lose myself.
I recently joined an online book club that focuses on female authors of science fiction and fantasy. It’s a genre that I haven’t read much in a bit so I like the idea of getting introduced to some new authors. Our first selection is what I will be reading today and that is “The Red Magician” by Lisa Goldstein.
Are you celebrating National Read an Ebook Day? If so, whatcha reading?
Have a blessed day!

Good morning! This weekend flew by in a flash but I managed to make the most of it. Saturday, I spent the entire day with some of my crafty girlfriends. I hadn’t seen them since last spring and many since last winter so this reunion was really special. Life kind of has a way of keeping us busy and my schedule which revolves around my family and work didn’t seem to make room for fun with my friends. However, now that the boys are back in school and we are falling into routines, I will be able to make time to be with my friends.
I saw others use black and I thought that it would really make the gears and flowers pop. I didn’t dilute the paint before applying it to the page. As I was completing the painting, I realized that a second coat was necessary to hide all of the brush marks. This technique is a great way to cover a background on a page quickly and then use the black colored pencil for tiny spaces. I have to say that I love the result and I know that this might not work well in all coloring books, but the pages in the coloring book series are thick and no bleeding through occurred. I only used a blank piece of cardstock behind the page as I painted so that I wouldn’t get any on the desk or the next page. Now I am so excited to paint more pages in this book!
As part of my quarterly business purchases, I have bought quite a few new stamp sets and this fall set simply makes me happy. You all know how much I love autumn so I was eager to play with this new set. I stamped them up on Copic paper and watercolor paper to explore the different results. I absolutely love both versions. I even googled and found pink sunflowers so you know I had to take the opportunity to color up some pink sunflowers!
Hello, my friend, I hope you are having a wonderful Friday. The sun has finally come out again after some pretty gray days. I am grateful for the sun coming this weekend but not the humidity. I mean really, we are a little over a week from the first day of fall and I really want to put away my shorts.
Today I included a couple of photos of a completed coloring page I colored this summer. As many of you may know, I started playing around more seriously with my colored pencils after the new year and have been having a blast. I took the summer off from work so my Copics collected a little dust!
Hello! It’s me. I don’t know why it’s such a surprise but the weather has been so strange for the past month. August was brutal with insane heat. September is starting off crazy too. Two days ago, I hoped in the car to bring my oldest son to school and when I was backing up (thank goodness for rear cameras), I noticed this rather large tree limb had landed on the fence and I was about to back into it. I am usually rather good about looking around at the trees in my yard (nature geek) whenever I go outside but that morning we were running late and I still had to go and get back to take my younger son to school. I also didn’t hear any crashing of limbs the night prior only heavy rain and wind.
